2 2.0 Systems Supported ProJet 6000 Control/Service This software package supports both the ProJet 6000 and ProJet D Production Printers. 3.0 Software Release Overview 3.1 ProJet 6000-series & 7000-series Control Software Field Service Print Tray Applicator Calibration Build Added The user is now capable of building our Field Service Print Tray Application Calibration/Verification build. This allows for shorter service down time; the parts can now be ready for the Field Service Engineer when he arrives on-site. This function is accessed through the Advanced tab via the Print Applicator option. Further instructions are listed below for proper usage. Interlock and sweeper stall errors- Intermittent interlock and sweeper stall issues have been resolved. RFID Checking Issues at Print Start RFID failures were leading to the inability to start prints reliably on some printers. This issue should be resolved with the release of version Draw Order after Sweep The order of how models are drawn after the print applicator has swept over has previously been a random order. Now the printer will draw the farthest geometry from the print applicator first, and then in order, move in an organized pattern so that the geometry that has been swept over last is the last geometry to draw. Build Logging A build log in CSV format will be created at the start of each build and log the following info throughout: At Start of the Print: Machine Name, Machine Type, Machine Serial Number, Control Version, Service Version, Machine Tag Serial Number, Vat Tag Serial Number, Vat Material, Vat Install Date, Cart Tag Serial Number, Cart Material, Laser Serial Number, Laser Hours, Laser Power Hours, Build File Throughout the Print (each layer): DateTime, Action, Layer, ZcadLayer, PinHoleType, PinHoleX, PinHoleY, PinRatio, BeamWidthX, BeamWidthY, MaxADCValue, DriftX, DriftY, BlockType, Mode, CureDepth, FillSpacing, Power, Speed, CosenseLevel, OmronCounts, CartLevel, CartZeroBias, CartLevelmm, ChamberTemp, VatTemp, CartTemp, SafetyTemp Move/Edit button there were cases where the Move / Edit button on the Print Queue page would disappear. This has been resolved. Save Log Files the save log files feature that was implemented with version , and enhanced with version has further been enhanced to grab any dsp crash files and to grab the new Build log file. DSP_Dump.dat files In the event of a DSP Crash, the system not outputs a time stamped DSP_Dump file to the printer s log folder. Acknowledgements With the release of , the Touchscreen UI introduced some basic acknowledgements for some buttons that would save a setting when pressed. Further areas were identified that acknowledgements were needed. Now the printer will ask the user to acknowledge set point changes for heater settings & drawing settings. 2

3 4.0 Installation Instructions IMPORTANT: Installation Instructions assume printer is currently running ProJet ControlCode version or newer. If running something older, please upgrade to before upgrading to the latest. 1. Shutdown the ProJet 6000 / ProJet 7000 Printer (toggle on/off switch) 2. Boot up the ProJet Printer (toggle on/off switch) 3. Once the ProJet Touchscreen Interface appears, both the green and blue lights are on, and the system is idle...login NOTE: to ensure that there are no hiccups, DO NOT PRESS OK to Enable / Power up the printer! 4. Retrieve the installer, ProJet6000 ControlCode msi, and place it on a USB Thumb Drive. 5. Plug the USB Thumb Drive that contains the installer into one of the USB slots provided on the side of the Printer. 6. In the Alerts window, an alert will appear referencing the new software version. 7. Access the Software Installation Alert and Press Yes to start NOTE: Pay no attention to the Percentage being displayed. The first part of the installation will count up to 100%, and then the 2 nd part of the installation will take place. The 2 nd part of the installation will count up to about 50%, and then count back down to 0%. This is okay not an issue with the installation. 8. When the installation completes, the Alert will change over and ask if you want to Start the New Software, Press Yes NOTE: The installation only takes 1 2 minutes to complete. If the Alert does not change over to the Start New Software Alert after 5 minutes, the GUI did not refresh properly. You can force this by logging out of the Touchscreen Interface, and then logging back in. Then try step #8 again. 9. Upon pressing yes, the Touchscreen Interface will log out and go to the splashscreen. Once the service starts up, the Touchscreen Interface will reappear and the system will initialize. NOTE: In some cases a Google Chrome page stating Can t find webpage may appear. Give it ~15 seconds and it will refresh. If both the laser and system lights are off and you still are looking at the can t find webpage window, then you can click the link to go to the splashscreen. 10. Remove the Flash Drive 11. Once printer initialization completes, Login to the GUI 12. Verify software installation was successful by clicking on the Settings Button, and then clicking on Printer Settings. This page should display the new version of software ( ). NOTE: If the printer is set up for the first time and version 2246 is installed The user must upload a build via flash drive to initiate the USB profile prior to using the build blade gap GUI options. This will also apply to any machine that has never received a build via USB. 3

4 5.0 Building BladeGap parts Note: The BladeGap files required to perform this function are stored within the data folder. If these files are removed it will result in the inability of the machine to continue building BladeGap parts. 1. Login to the ProJet 6000 / ProJet 7000 User Interface as an admin user. 2. Plug in your USB thumb drive 3. Press the Advanced button on the bottom of the User Interface 4. Press the Print Applicator button in the Advanced menu 5. Press the Build BladeGap button in the Printer window 4

5 6. At this point one of two things will happen a. The BladeGap print will fail because there is already a BladeGap Print in the print queue. If this is the case, you will need to remove the BladeGap print from the print queue. This is done the same way any other print would be removed. (Press the Prints button and scroll to the BladeGap print. Select the BladeGap print and delete it). Repeat step 5. b. If all is well, the machine will indicate that the print was accepted and will begin the building the BladeGap part. 5

6 6.0 Directions for Successful Operation / Potential Issues Grayed out Print Start button If you are ready to start a print, but the print start button is grayed out, the printer may be looking for you to physically remove the previous job from the printer. Please open and close the chamber door and then power up the system; then attempt to start the print again. Note that sometimes this reset may take 1 or 2 attempts to reset the print start button. Logout Button There have been some refresh issues associated with the touchscreen user interface. If the System Enable / Power Up Alert does not appear after a printer door is opened, log out of the touchscreen interface by pressing the Logout button. That automatically refreshes the user interface. Login and the User Interface should display properly. Boot Up Please be patient with the system boot up. Currently we provide absolutely no feedback to the user until the user interface finally appears. Please allow at least five minutes for complete system startup. Power Up Printer & Home Axes The way the Printer operates is that it will not be enabled for motion until you have closed all of the doors and acknowledged the Power Up Alert in the touchscreen user interface. If you get this message multiple times in a row, then you need to verify your door interlocks are working properly. Also make sure that the Emergency Stop button has not been pressed. Once the system has been powered up, the Alerts window will request to home the system s axes. This is intended behavior after every printer boot up! Once the printer s axes have been homed, you can proceed to start a print. Print Completion the system will ask you at the end of the print if you would like to move your print to the offload position. If you have not set the Offload position, the default position is zero which may result in the elevator moving down. Upon pressing Yes to move to offload position, please wait for the elevator to complete its motion prior to opening the door. System Shut down On occasion, the system may not shut down when the button is pressed to do so. In the event of this happening, go ahead and toggle the power switch on the rear side of the printer to shut the printer down. Part Deletion It is possible to delete geometry from an active print by pausing the print, clicking the Print Preview button, selecting the geometry in question and pressing delete. This functionality doesn t work if the print is still in the Support Recoat Print Range (i.e. the print height is between 0 and or 10mm). Keypad the ProJet 3D Printer user interface uses a touchscreen keypad and keyboard in various locations for entering data. Currently the operator will need to pay close attention to what he / she presses because the user interface doesn t flash the buttons pressed. Particularly necessary when dealing with passwords. 6
