5 AutoVu SharpOS Release Notes 11.0 AutoVu is the IP license plate recognition (LPR) system of Security Center that automates the reading and verification of vehicle license plates.in addition to being seamlessly unified with Omnicast and Synergis, AutoVu can be installed as a standalone LPR system for fixed and mobile applications. SharpOS is the software component of a Sharp or SharpX unit. SharpOS is responsible for everything related to plate capture, collection, processing, and analytics. For example, a SharpOS update may include new LPR contexts, new firmware, Sharp Portal updates, and updates to the Sharp's Windows services (Plate Reader, HAL, updater service, and so on). AutoVu SharpOS 11.0 is a general availability release. This document describes the release in detail as it applies specifically to AutoVu hardware components. This may include information about the following: LPR contexts Sharp or SharpX hardware (including the LPR Processing Unit) Sharp Portal Sharp or SharpX firmware Plate Reader and other related services This document also provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the Genetec AutoVu documentation. 7 What's new in AutoVu SharpOS With each release, new features, enhancements, or resolved issues are added to the product. SharpOS includes the following new SharpOS features, hardware features and enhancements. New features AutoVu SharpOS introduces the following new features and enhancements: Gate control read strategy: A Gate Control read strategy has been added to the Sharp Portal. Using the Gate Control read strategy will reduce the number of duplicate plate reads when vehicles are stopped in the camera s field of view. This read strategy is ideal for fixed Sharp installations where vehicles come to a complete stop when their plates are read, for example, at parking lot entrances or toll booths. Sharp / Security Center communication status test: A new connectivity test has been added to the Extension settings in the Sharp Portal's Configuration page. This test is available when the Security Center extension is selected and is used to determine if an IP address is reachable from the Sharp camera. You can use this test to troubleshoot network issues. New contexts: License plate recognition is now available for the following license plates: Arabic Peninsula Denmark Peru Enhanced contexts: License plate recognition has been improved for the following license plates: California Vermont context now supports stacked characters. Resolved issues in SharpOS 11.0 Resolved issues are software issues from previous releases which have been fixed in the current release. AutoVu SharpOS includes the following resolved issues: Issue Description Previously, the X1S LPR Processing Unit supported a maximum of two SharpX VGA cameras. You can now connect four SharpX VGA cameras to the system while maintaining the maximum framerate (30 fps) For Sharp cameras that are in DHCP mode and are configured to use a hostname to connect to Security Center, if the mode is changed to Static, the hostname will no longer be resolved by the DNS. If the Sharp is then rebooted, it will not be able to connect to Security Center. The Sharp will continuously reboot. EN V11.0.B(4) Last updated: April 29,
8 Issue Description There is no clear method to determine a Sharp camera s communication status with Security Center The auto-exposure on the context camera of SharpX and Sharp 3 cameras can sometimes fluctuate continually which can affect motion detection in the video feed. EN V11.0.B(4) Last updated: April 29,

20 Updating one or more Sharps from Security Center If your AutoVu components are connected to Security Center wirelessly or through a network, you can use the Security Center updater service to push the updates to Patrollers or certain Sharps. What you should know If you have a fixed installation, the Sharp updates are automatically installed after you push the updates from Security Center. Certain older Sharp models already deployed in the field may need to be upgraded to use the Security Center updater service. For more information on which Sharps need to be upgraded, and how to upgrade them, contact your Genetec representative. Sharp 1.5 and Sharp 2.0 units with 512 MB of RAM cannot be updated using the Security Center updater service, even if they are upgraded to the latest version.
