1 IPSA Network Licensing Installation and Set Up Introduction IPSA uses Sentinel HASP USB hardware keys to license one or more users from a floating license pool. When an authorized user wishes to run IPSA they request a license from the central license server. If a license is available the license server allows the IPSA to run. When they finish using it, or when the allowed license period expires, the license is reclaimed by the license server and made available to other authorized users. Prerequisites You will need to select one Windows PC to act as the license manager (server). There are no special requirements for this machine, other than it being accessible across the network to all intended user (client) machines and being located in a secure place to ensure the USB key is safe. Group administrator rights are required to install Ipsa on the client machines, local administrator rights are not sufficient. Installation and Configuration There are two parts to setting up the IPSA license manager: On the Client machines: Automatic HASP Installation Section 1 Manual HASP Installation (optional) Section 2 Install IPSA Section 5 Launch IPSA and select Network License option Section 6 If necessary open port 1947 in the firewall (optional) Section 3 On the Server machine: Automatic HASP Installation Section 1 Manual HASP Installation (optional) Section 2 Server License Manager Setup (optional) Section 3 If necessary open port 1947 in the firewall (optional) Section 4 June 2016 Page 1

2 1. Automatic HASP Installation It is recommended that this step is performed on each client first. Once the client machines have been configured the red Network License dongle can then be installed in the server where it should remain. Installation of the device drivers should proceed automatically when the red Network License dongle is inserted. If this does not happen then the drivers will have to be installed manually as detailed in section 2, Manual HASP Installation. Plug in the red USB key. The hardware key is programmed with the number of simultaneous users you requested. This key must be attached to the server at all times to enable clients to logon and use the IPSA. Wait until the USB key hardware is ready to use, the USB device itself should have a steady red light on. This can take several minutes depending on connection speeds. June 2016 Page 2

3 2. Manual HASP Installation The device drivers for the Network License may require manual installation on the client and server PCs as detailed in the following steps: 1. Download the latest drivers from the following link: For Windows PCs the Sentinel HAASP/LDK Windows GUI Run-time Installer should be selected. 2. Scroll to the bottom of the licensing web page to accept the terms and conditions. The download will start automatically. 3. Once complete locate the Sentinel_LDK_Run-time_setup.zip file in the Downloads folder and un-zip the contents 4. Run the HASPUserSetup.exe file in the unzipped Sentinel_LDK_Run-time_setup folder 5. Follow the installation instructions as shown below: 6. Click Next ton start the installation: June 2016 Page 3

4 1. Accept the license agreement and click Next to continue 2. Wait for the installation to complete: June 2016 Page 4

6 3. Server License Manager Setup To setup or check that the license manager has been successfully installed open your internet browser. In the address field type: -or- and press enter. Your browser should then show the 'Sentinel Admin Control Center'. Make sure the hardware key is plugged in. To the left there are the administration options, selection 'Configuration' and then more to the middle of the window and click on 'Access from Remote Clients'. June 2016 Page 6

7 Make sure that 'Allow access from Remote Clients' is checked and that the 'Access Restrictions' has the line 'allow=all'. Click 'Submit'. The settings are stored in a file called hasplm.ini, the exact location is shown below all the setting options. 8 4. Firewall The HASP runtime installer will also normally update the firewall rules to open port 1947 for both TCP and UDP protocols. If required this can be checked by doing the following: 1. Go to the Control Panel, System and Security section 2. Open Windows Firewall 3. Click Advanced Settings 4. Go to Inbound Rules You should see an entry for the Sentinel Licence Manager, as shown below: If this is not shown you will need to manually enable them: 1. Go to Inbound Rules, click New Rule Choose Port as the new rule type 3. Select TCL as protocol 4. Enter 1947 as specific local port 5. Click Next a few times to enter a name for the inbound rule 6. Press Finish 7. Repeat the above creating the same rule for the UDP protocol June 2016 Page 8

9 5. Install IPSA Group administrator rights will be required for the following steps, local administrator rights are not sufficient: 1. Locate the Ipsa2.5.msi installation file. This can be downloaded from or copied from the USB memory supplied with the USB license dongle. 2. Follow the Installer instructions as shown below: 3. Click Run to start the installer: 4. 12 6. Starting Ipsa Ipsa can now be started to check the installation and licensing is correct. 1. Open Ipsa from the Start menu > All Programs > Ipsa 2.5 > Ipsa2 2. The Ipsa Licensing dialog should be displayed as shown below: 3. Select the Network License option 4. After a short delay the licensing text should update to detail the network license configuration. 5. If the network license cannot be located an error message will be displayed.
