4 Install Scalable Client on Each Delta Server Scalable Client must be installed on each server in your display. Configuring Delta to use Auto Alignment Data To configure Delta for Auto Alignment, you will require a Delta Auto Alignment licence. To confirm that you have a licence, check the About dialog on the Delta server. You should see Auto Align in the list of options. To enable use of Auto Alignment data within Delta go to: View > Preferences > Startup_File Load in the Delta GUI Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 4

5 In the Merge Permanent AutoAlignment section: Click to select Enable and choose the type of Auto Alignment system you are using from the drop-down menu Select whether you want to use Auto Warp, Auto Blends and Black Level options (as available from your Auto Alignment system type: Black Level is currently only available with Dome Projection systems) Click OK to accept changes: Delta will import and use the data. Delta automatically applies warp, blend and black (as available) when Auto Alignment is enabled. Manual Geometry and Blend can be added as normal on top of any Auto Alignment data. More detail on individual systems can be found in their sections within this document. Scalable Displays Each Delta server loads the data in the following directory for Scalable Display Auto Alignment systems. This is the default output folder used by the Scalable Display Client. C:\Program Files\Scalable Display\DEI\LocalCalibration Note: Scalable Auto Alignment works in Flat and Frustum Mode ONLY in Delta. 6 In the Frusta Settings > Advanced Setting area, towards the bottom of the panel, select 'Make Frusta per' Projector In Eye-Point Settings Set the up/down eye-point number Set the Pitch value Note: Eye Point (up/down) and Pitch can be set in Delta or SDT (Scalable Display Technology). For a standard dome positioned hanging from the ceiling, the eye-point is typically similar to the screen radius setting and defaults in as 10, the Pitch value should be Display Clients Tab: Assign the IP address of the Delta Server to the right-hand column. If it does not appear try restarting the SDT Display Client on the host PC. It can be located in the Start Menu. Select Use Remote Display Clients at the top of the dialog 3. Projectors Tab: Make sure the correct number of projectors appear and at the correct resolution. If you set a specific Matrix Mode array in Delta, you should have the same configuration here. It is important to disable any unused displays here. It is best to make this configuration match your desktop configuration in Delta server. If it is not automatically correct, use the custom resolution option and number of rows and columns to make sure the layout matches Delta. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 6

7 4. Cameras Tab: Position your camera and take a picture in auto shot and auto focus mode. Check camera is not asleep Make sure the camera is set to manual shot and focus mode. Also make sure the entire screen image is in view and is not over-saturated. You can use the Show Focus Pattern to put up sample grids. This will help you make sure all the spots are clearly visible. 8 Auto Tune / Exposure are often necessary for large displays. It s worth trying without first though as the process if quite robust. If you can get away with the default short exposure time, the alignment is a lot quicker. For Domes: The base of the camera will determine where North (0 degrees) is. The centre of the camera will determine where the pole is. 5. Screens Tab: Dome Mode: The Dome screen type. There is no need to change any of the settings so leave them at their defaults of 10 and 90. All other modes: Select the screen shape you have and enter the appropriate metrics for the screen 6. In the Image Boundary Tab: Dome Mode: It is not necessary to set boundary points here although you have the option to if necessary. All other modes: Set boundary points of the screen here 7. Calibration Click on the Home Button at the top left of the Scalable Display Manager Click Re-calibrate. This will run through the calibration process. Note: If you have run this previously and have changed some settings in Scalable Display Manager but have not moved your camera or projectors, you may click the Update Calibration button often seen on the bottom right hand side of the user interface to avoid having to retake all the images again. Once final calibrated image is shown, close the Scalable Display Manager. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 8

9 Note: The image show as the final image onscreen by Scalable Display Manager may look as though it does not fill the entire screen. This is normal- it can still be fine within Delta. 8. Refresh the Delta GUI to import the new alignment The Refresh AutoAlign button is available in either Flatplane or Frustum Mode. Click it at any time to re-import the Scalable Displays Auto Alignment calibration data. In Dome Mode, small changes to the Delta Radius number will allow you to finely adjust the position of the dome spring line. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 9

10 Dome Projection For Dome Projection Auto Alignment systems each Delta Server looks for data in c:\autoalignment. Currently Delta only supports Frustum Mode Auto Alignment for Dome Projection. When exporting data form the Dome Projection software, it should be copied to the appropriate server in the C:\AutoAlignment folder. An example for a 2-channel display would be as below. 11 Exporting files When exporting files from Dome Projection you should select: Generic Export as the type. The UV Warp geometry Mode should be selected. This is essential if you wish to use BlackLevel adjustment. Vertex Mapping mode will work if Black Level Adjustment is not required. Shading should be png 32bit Colour Select Black Level Adjust if required.
