3 EC-Net AX 3.6: What s New? Distech Controls is pleased to announce the availability of EC-Net AX 3.6, the latest version of our Web-based multi-protocol building management solution. This latest edition contains several new features and enhancements, including: Support for new hardware: o EC-NPB-SRAM battery-less Option Card o UPS functionality with on board SRAM and external battery Heightened security features: JRE for Windows upgraded to Additional support for server drivers, including BACnet, OPC, Modbus TCP, ilon, SNMP, and relational drivers such as SQL, DB2, Oracle, and MySQL Digitally signing Niagara AX binary files using the new code signing certificate Usability enhancements: expanded functions for the EC-Net AX Wire Sheet Support of additional operating systems: o Windows Server 2008 R2 o Windows7 Enterprise x86 & x64 o Windows7 Professional x86 & x64 o Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit o Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 o QNX for JACE Devices For a complete list of fixed issues and enhancements, refer to the document entitled EC-Net AX List of Fixed Issues and Enhancements available on SmartSource. Reduce Maintenance for End Users Existing EC-BOS-2/6 AX controllers are equipped with a battery pack that is used to keep the EC-Net AX station running during short power failures and provide enough time to backup the station during longer power failures. However, this battery pack needs to be changed every three years or less (depending on environmental conditions and frequency of usage), which presents a regular maintenance effort and cost associated with proper disposal. The EC-NPB-SRAM is an option card that can be installed in any EC-BOS-2/6 AX controller, and effectively replaces the need for the battery pack. The EC-NPB-SRAM requires EC-Net AX to operate. 3

BTL -Listed BACnet OWS & AWS Drivers Due to the introduction of the BACnet Operator Workstation Software (OWS) and BACnet Advanced Workstation Software (AWS) Drivers, the existing EC-Net AX Supervisor BACnet IP Driver (SDITR- DSABAC0XX) will no longer be available for sale after October 1, The OWS and AWS drivers are enhanced BTL-listed workstations for the EC-Net AX Supervisor, as described below. BACnet Operator Workstation Software (OWS) Driver Users can now add the BACnet Operator Workstation Software (OWS) Driver to EC-Net AX Supervisor. The BACnet OWS device profile is used for monitoring and basic control of a system. This device profile is designed for daily operators who need the ability to monitor basic system status and perform simple modification to the operation of the system. This profile includes features of the BACnet IP Client Driver, along with: Presentation of data Ability to modify setpoints and parameters Adjustment of alarm/event parameters Operator notification and presentation of event information Alarm acknowledgements by operators Alarm summarization Adjustment of analog alarm limits BACnet Advanced Workstation Software (AWS) Driver Users also have the option to add the BACnet Advanced Workstation Software (AWS) Driver to EC- Net AX Supervisor. The BACnet AWS device profile is used to monitor the performance of a system and to modify parameters that affect the operation of a system. This profile is designed for the building operator or technician with a higher level of technical ability. This profile provides support for some configuration actions and ongoing commissioning activities. This profile includes features of the BACnet IP Client and BACnet OWS Drivers, along with: Ability to monitor the value of all BACnet object types Adjustment of alarm routing Creating of new Event Enrollment and Notification Classes Presentation of Event Logs Creation of new calendars and schedules Ability to silence a device on the network that is transmitting erroneous data Ability to cause a remote device to reinitialize Ability to backup and restore the configuration of other devices 4

EC-Net AX Supervisor BACnet IP Driver Phase Out To continue supporting those customers currently using the EC-Net AX Supervisor BACnet IP Driver, the part's features will be included through the EC-Net AX 3.7 release. Therefore, we encourage you to upgrade from the existing BACnet Supervisor Driver to the BACnet AWS Driver prior to the release of EC- Net AX 3.8, to avoid the complications of losing supervisory features that will only be included in BACnet AWS moving forward. Option Cards & Drivers EC-NPB-SRAM Option Card The EC-NPB-SRAM Option Card is a new option for embedded EC-BOS- 2/6 AX Series products that enable the units to operate without a backup battery, and still protect valuable data during power outages. This option card eliminates the need for rechargeable batteries and their periodic replacement. Stores data for up to seven days in the event of a power failure Patent pending EC-BOS AX software restores the backed up data to the EC-BOS AX non-volatile Flash memory upon power restoration Allows the EC-BOS AX to protect valuable data not yet written to the database without a backup battery during power failures Simple OpenADR Client The new Simple OpenADR Client software driver, based on OpenADR specification 1.0, enables communication between EC-Net AX Hosts and Utilities and allows ISO's and Aggregators to support Automated Demand Response Programs. The OpenADR Client driver allows utilities to collaborate with end-user facilities to perform automatic load shedding events to curtail energy consumption during peak usage. The system architecture of the OpenADR program includes three parties: the utility or energy provider, the Demand Response Automation Server (DRAS), and the facility that is consuming the energy. Carrier Comfort Network Controllers (CCN) Driver The new EC-Net AX Carrier Comfort Network Controllers (CCN) Driver allows for the integration of CCN Controllers with an EC-BOS AX.
