6 Introduction 2 What is MOVIVISION? 2 Introduction 2.1 What is MOVIVISION? General information Why MOVIVISION? MOVIVISION is a central data management concept for decentralized units of the latest generation from SEW-EURODRIVE. MOVIVISION was particularly designed for the materials handling industry. MOVIVISION offers an easy-to-use interface and functions that tremendously reduce the effort for project planning, startup and maintenance. So that customers have a central place for parameter setting, diagnostics, startup and updates for their decentralized units. There is no need for programming with the convenient MOVIVISION concept; control takes place via parameter setting of prepared drive functions. These functions are based on all the years of experience SEW-EURODRIVE has in the materials handling industry; they make for cost-reducing standardization of the conveyor functions in the system. MOVIVISION is a configuration and diagnostics system with a central database based on a client-server architecture. 7 Introduction Structure of MOVIVISION 2 Advantages of Simple and standardized project planning, parameter setting, configuration and MOVIVISION startup of a system without programming Considerable time-saving factor during startup Catalog of conveyor functions for reuse Standardization of conveyor functions Use of existing conveyor functions (e.g. elevating table, rotary table, trolley, points etc.) with corresponding parameter setting 2.2 Structure of MOVIVISION Server MOVIVISION is a distributed application with remote access to a server application using TCP/IP. The server can be operated on your local computer or on a remote computer. A client connects to the server via TCP/IP using the server s IP address. The MOVIVISION server makes data in the database available to the clients. The server establishes a connection between the configuration and diagnostics tool and the connected, decentral control components. The data exchange between server and decentral control components takes place via fieldbus or service interfaces. MOVIVISION is not required for the actual operation of the system but serves for setting parameters and diagnosing the system. The server administers all data in a central database. The data is separated for the following areas: Devices Catalog User Client The MOVIVISION client visualizes data from the decentral control components on a user interface. The data for every unit is visualized separately for parameters and online data. The two nodes are subdivided into the following levels: "Drive" level "Axes" level "Technological level The displayed data are parameter and diagnostic data. The decentral control components are configured using the client. The unit data are displayed using device standard functions (D-DLLs) and technological functions (T-DLLs). These functions are based on all the years of experience SEW-EURODRIVE has in the materials handling industry; they are developed and tested in-house. These functions refer to small conveyor units. Parameter setting is flexible and customers can adjust the functions to meet their specific requirements. Manual MOVIVISION Software Version

9 Introduction Database Database All data are centrally stored in a database on the MOVIVISION server. The database is divided into the following areas: Plant data The plant database contains all data of the plant, such as the various fieldbus types and connected devices. The database also stores all parameter data of the individual devices. The devices are technologically divided into so-called function groups. Catalog data The catalog database contains components of the plant, such as devices that were configured optionally. If such devices are to be reintegrated into the plant, the data can directly be retrieved from the catalog database. This eliminates the need to reset the parameters. User data The user database contains users that can logon to the MOVIVISION server via a MOVISION client. Users are assigned to user groups. Each user group can be assigned different access rights to system components. Manual MOVIVISION Software Version

21 Structure MOVIVISION client 4 Work and display area The work area is the space between the toolbar and the window s bottom edge. The work and display area is split into two windows similar to the Windows Explorer. The left part shows a list with items you can choose, such as user names or function groups. The view corresponds to a folder structure in the Windows Explorer. The currently selected item can easily be recognized by a blue background. The right part displays the data belonging to the currently selected item. You can resize the windows as you wish to fit in the space available. To do so, position the mouse pointer exactly between the "border" of the right and left part and move it into the required direction. Function call You can call the functions via the context menu (right mouse click) or by clicking on the menu entries in the menu bar. The context menu offers the same entries as the menu bar. Window control You can resize the windows in the same way as in the common Windows programs. The settings are not saved. 26 Administration 5 User administration 5.3 User administration General information In the user administration you specify the users that can connect to the MOVIVISION server as well as the access rights of the individual users. Each user is assigned a user group. A user group consists of one or several users with the same access rights. Access rights apply to one or several functions groups and are assigned to the user group. There are one or several system administrators for each server. A system administrator has the right to insert new user groups, delete existing user groups, delete users, add new users, and change the passwords of existing users. Starting the user administration There are several ways you can start the user administration view: 1.
