3 Installing Fizz Traveller 2 Double Click on setup.exe Follow the on-screen installer dialogs. Check your device and install either to phone or storage card Installation may take a long time, as there are a lot of small files to install. Launching Fizz Traveller 2 Once installed, Fizz Traveller 2 will be available in the Programs list. Select the Fizz Traveller 2 icon from the Programs list Select your country s flag to select the desired language You can change the language Fizz Traveller 2 runs in by using the options screen. Personal Data Files Fizz Traveller 2 will create several files suffixed with.dat in the Fizz Traveller 2 installation folder on your device. These files are used by Fizz Traveller 2 to manage your personal settings and data. The fizztraveller.dat file created by earlier versions is not compatible with Fizz Traveller 2. 4 Registering Fizz Traveller 2 Fizz Traveller 2 Registration Information Fizz Traveller 2 will function for 5 days before you are required to enter a valid registration code. You may register either by selecting Register from the Options Menu available from the home time screen or wait until after 5 days in which case the only available option will be the registration screen. To register, simply enter the serial number provided when you purchased the product. Make sure you enter the serial number exactly as shown including the characters. Make sure there are no special characters or spaces anywhere in the number, including at the end and make sure that the serial number you are using matches the product you are registering, e.g. Do not use a Fizz Traveller 2.x serial number with version 1.2 and vice versa. 5 Fizz Traveller Home Screen The Fizz Traveller 2 main screen is called the home screen. You can configure Fizz Traveller 2 to track 6 world city times, one being your main home time. The home screen shows the date, time, current weather (if any has been downloaded) and alarm status. To configure any visual aspects of the home screen, select Options from the Menu. If no weather has been downloaded or it is out of date??? will be displayed. Smartphone Using the soft-key MENU you can choose Change... which will take you to the city edit screen. From this screen you can configure what city is displayed on your home screen. Pocket PC Clicking on the Options menu you can choose Change... which will take you to the city edit screen. From this screen you can configure what city is displayed on your home screen. Home Alarm Using the MENU you can toggle the current default alarm on/off or create a new alarm if s default one does not exist or the default alarm has expired. MENU - Change : City Selecting this menu option will open the city edit screen allowing you to create new cities or edit/delete existing ones. MENU - Fetch Forecast Selecting this menu option will download the 5-day forecast for your current Home City MENU - Show 5 Days Selecting this option will show you the 5 day forecast for the currently selected city, if one is available. To remove this pop-up, select the menu option again or on the Pocket PC, you can tap the Pop-up to remove it. MENU - Options Selecting this menu option will allow you to fully customize your home screen. You can change the theme, or create a user-defined theme with your choice of Skin, Clock Face, Clock hands and Text Color. You can even choose the transparency of your chosen clock face using the transparency slider. MENU - Alarm On/Off This option will toggle your default alarm on and off. You must have a valid alarm set and it must be set as the default for this option to work MENU - Register Selecting this menu option will open the register screen. MENU Full Screen (Pocket PC Only) Selecting this option will remove all menus and leave you with just the clock and date on the screen. You can also tap the clock-face to toggle full screen mode. 6 World Times World Times / Cities The main world times screen shows the date and time for any six cities stored in the city database. One city is always the HOME city, which is the city that is displayed on the home screen. You can quickly make one of the six favorite cities your home default city simply by selecting it. Smartphone Using the soft-key Change City will take you to the City edit screen for the specific city that you have currently got selected - you can now change this city or add, edit & delete others. Pocket PC Using the Options Menu Change City will take you to the City edit screen for the specific city that you have currently got selected - you can now change this city or add, edit & delete others. Tapping on the? icon will give you more information about your currently selected city, such as the dial code if one has been entered, sun rise and sun set times and the GMT. City Edit Screen The city will be selected in the city list ready to be changed to another. You can select another city from the list then press the action button or use the soft-key MENU Select option to change the previous home or 6 world city to the newly selected city. New. You can create a new city by using the MENU option You can edit the selected city by using the MENU option Edit. You can delete a city from the database using the MENU option Delete From this screen you can also see the daylight saving information if the city has one and the dial-code and current time for any of the cities listed. Edit City Information The city information screen is shown if you edit a city. City - The name of the city used in the city lists or displayed with the clocks. Latitude / Longitude - The cities global position. This will be used when displaying the city's location on the daylight/distance map. If you do not know it, see City Lookup below. Time zone - The time zone for the city. This is the offset from GMT that will be used when showing the time or setting alarms for this city Dial code - The cities international dial code. City ID - This is populated automatically by the lookup process. Please do not alter these numbers or weather forecasts for the city will not be correct. 7 New City An important feature of Fizz Traveller 2 is the Internet City Lookup available when you add a new city to the database. This will ensure you not only have the correct city information but also allows you to fetch weather forecasts. From the City list select New City from the MENU. Enter as much of the city name as possible and use the Lookup... option. If you live in the United States - you can enter a ZIP code. This will perform an Internet search for the city name entered and return a list of matching cities. Tab down to the Results selector and scroll through the cities that have been found. You can also press the Action key to show the full list. When you find the correct city, select it and choose the Menu Select. This will take you to the City Information screen as described above, here you can check that all the details are correct and when you are happy, choose Menu Update. Selecting a city from the list then Select will return you to the City Information screen. The benefit of city lookup is the city longitude, latitude and time zone will be set for you. You can now fetch weather forecasts for this city. Note: The city time zone will be an estimate. You may need to configure this manually on the City Information screen. 8 Alarms Fizz Traveller 2 has the ability to set multiple alarms, each alarm having various characteristics such as sounds, message and time zones. The main alarm screen is accessed via the view scrollbar. This screen shows which alarms have been created, are running or have expired. Selecting an alarm shows the alarm details below the list. Default Alarm One alarm can be set as the Default alarm. This alarm is shown on the home screen, and can be toggled on and off from there saving you time navigating to the alarm screen. To set an alarm as the Default alarm, select the alarm from the list and from the MENU select "Make Default. On the Pocket PC, you can tap the D button to make the alarm the default. Activating an Alarm You can activate an alarm that is not expired from the alarm list. Next to each alarm is an indicator as to whether the alarm is running or not. Alarms with a green spot are running, those with a red spot are not. Use the navigation pad to select an alarm in the list, then use the action key to set or unset the alarm. On the Pocket PC, you can tap the green or red button to toggle the alarm. Creating an Alarm From the alarm list you can create a new alarm. From the MENU select "New" and follow the information below on alarm options. Edit Alarms To edit an alarm, select the alarm from the alarm list, then using the MENU select "Edit". Please follow the information below on alarm options. Delete Alarms From the alarm list you can delete alarms. Select the alarm from alarm list, then using the MENU select "Delete" button. Confirm the warning message shown and the alarm will be removed. Alarm Options If you are creating or editing an alarm, the screen will contain various information. Name - The name of the alarm that will be displayed in the alarm list Time - The time of the alarm. This is a 24-hour time. Date - The date of the alarm. Only the current date or future dates can be set for alarms City - The alarm will be triggered using the date and time and selected city time zone. This allows you to set an alarm to trigger on a particular date, when the time in the zone selected is reached. Repeat - A drop list of options that control if the alarm automatically resets for another date. Off - The alarm only triggers once, then expires Daily - Once triggered, the alarm will be set 24 hours on Week- Once triggered, the alarm will be set 1 week on Working Week- Once triggered, the alarm will be set every day of the working week, i.e. Monday to Friday only. Month - Once triggered, the alarm will be set 1 month on Year - Once triggered, the alarm will be set 1 year on Message - When the alarm is triggered, a screen will be shown with the message entered here. If the alarm clock picture next to the time settings is faded out, with a red cross, then the date and time of the alarm has already passed. If this is the case you will not be able to set the alarm. 9 On the Smartphone, Select the bottom arrow to see MORE OPTIONS Snooze - When the alarm triggers the menu can be used to snooze if this drop list is set to a time. Sound - A drop list of sounds that can be played when the alarm triggers. Pressing the * key allows you to test the sound repeatedly until the * key is pressed again to stop it. If vibrate is selected then no sound will play and the device will vibrate instead. On the Pocket PC, you can tap the sound button to play the sound. Repeat - The number of times the sound is played when the alarm triggers. On the Smartphone, choosing the bottom arrow will return you to the previous screen. Set the alarm information, then using the MENU select "Update" to confirm changes. Custom Sounds Additional alarm sounds can be added to Fizz Traveller 2 in two ways. Smartphone Add more WAV files to the sounds subdirectory - you will find this in the Fizz Traveller 2 installation directory. Add more WAV files to the folders below :- \IPSM\Application Data\Sounds ( Smartphone 2002 ) \Storage\Application Data\Sounds ( Smartphone 2003 ) Pocket PC Add your.wav files to the \Windows directory on your device. 10 World Map (Smartphone Only) International Daylight Times Fizz Traveller 2 has the ability to show a real time map of the world, shading those parts of the world in darkness in a darker color. This gives you a clear representation of what parts of the world are awake or asleep. The six main cities that you've selected are available above the world map. Selecting a city will force the city to be shown on the map as a flashing dot. At the bottom of the map screen you will see the current local time of the selected city ( the city that is flashing ). International Date and Time Given the selected world city, the city local date and time is shown supplied in the city database. International Dial Codes Given the selected world city, the cities international dial-code is shown if one is Sun Rise and Sun Set The approximate Sun Rise and Sun Set times are shown for each of the selected cities The current weather for each selected city is also shown if it is available and has been downloaded. 11 Itinerary The Fizz Traveller 2 itinerary screen will help you plan your trips or tasks, making sure you don't forget important things. The itinerary screen is accessed via the view scroll bar. If your itinerary task list is empty, use the MENU to create a new task. See below. If you have at least one task then you will see two controls. A drop list of tasks, and a list below of task items for the selected task. Each task item for a task has a completed state. The state can either be set to completed or not, either by editing the task item or quickly by pressing the * key. On the Pocket PC you can do this by tapping the status box in the item list. Smartphone Pressing the # key will show more information about each task item. Pocket PC Tapping the? button will show more information about each task item. Tasks To create a new task use the MENU and select New. Edit Tasks To edit the main task information, select the task from the task list then use the MENU and select Edit. Delete Task To delete a task, select the task from the task list then use the MENU and select Delete. Confirm the deletion message and the task and the task items belonging to that task will be deleted. Task Information When you create or edit a task you will be shown this screen. Name - The name of the task, this will be shown in the main task list Task Information - General information area where you can add anything to do with the task Enter the task information and select Update to confirm changes Task Item Information When you create or edit a task item you will be shown this screen. Name - The name of the task item, this will be shown in the task item list. Start Time - The starting time of your task item. Date - The start date of our task item End Time - The ending time for this task item Date - The end date of your task item Item Complete - If yes, the item is considered complete. Notes - General information area where you can add anything to do with the task item. Enter the task item information and select Update to confirm changes. 12 Conversion General Conversion Fizz Traveller 2 now allows you to not only convert currencies, but many other types of conversion as well. Using the Conversion drop list, you can choose the type of conversion you want. For example, currency, length, weights to name but a few. Fizz Traveller 2 allows you to quickly do currency conversions between 2 currencies from its built in currency database. You can add custom currencies if you so wish, but these will not be updateable via the Internet and therefore you will have to keep them updated yourself. The main conversion screen is accessed via the View Scroll Panel. The screen shows an amount to convert, two lists, one to convert from the other to convert to and a total. Converting To convert an amount: First select the conversion you want to perform, e.g. Currency Rates Pick the currency you are converting from using the first list Pick the currency you are converting to from the second list. Press the action key (or on Pocket PC tap the calculator) to convert. Decimal places can be set using the * key on some devices but on others you will need to go to the symbol list to enter decimal places. The result is shown in the Results area. Changing either currency from the currency lists will update the total shown. Changing the Currency Rates As currency rates fluctuate, you will need to update the rates of the currencies stored in the database. Use the MENU and choose Update Rates to update the currency rates. When you have the first selector on the conversion screen set to Rates, the last time an Internet update was carried out is shown for your information. Editing Currency Rates Choose Edit from the MENU. Adding a new currency Choose New from the MENU. Deleting a currency To delete a currency from the currency list, first select the currency the use the MENU and select "Delete". Confirm the delete message and the currency will be removed. Update Rates Fizz Traveller 2 supports an automatic rate update from an Internet source. The source is updated on a regular basis helping you keep up with rate changes on the move. 14 Weather Fizz Traveller 2 supports fetching weather by using a connection to the internet and using CustomWeather, Inc. Three screens are available for displaying and selecting weather reports. - 5-Day Forecast, including details for the current day - 48 Hour Forecast - Maps - Airport Delays 5 Day Forecast Screen Fizz Traveller 2 can store a forecast for each of your six chosen favorite cities. On each screen you will see a selector containing the six favorite cities. Moving the selector left or right changes the city and displays the cities forecast if it is available & it is still valid. The latest weather for the currently selected city shown in the city drop list can be retrieved by using the MENU option "Fetch Forecast". The 5-day forecast screen will show today's current weather and also that for the next 5 days. If no weather has been fetched, NO REPORT will be shown and you need to fetch a new forecast. Use the navigation pad to select each day and see the details of the weather for that day. On the Pocket PC you can tap on the day to see more detail. Forecasts for cities To select weather information for another city in your database that is not in your six-city favorites list, you will need to change one of your six main cities. Fetching weather Select "Fetch Forecasts" from the menu to use the Internet to fetch the current weather conditions for the selected city. Fetching weather - All Favorites You can fetch all your favorite cities forecasts in one go by using the Menu, and selecting Fetch All Cities. Clearing a forecast You can clear a cached forecast by selecting the city name in the city drop list, then using the Menu choose Clear Forecast. Options Select "Centigrade/Fahrenheit" from the menu to display all temperatures on all weather screens in deg.c. Use the menu to switch screens from the 5-Day forecast, the 48 Hour forecast or the weather maps. 48 Hour Forecast Shows the weather over the next 48 hours. 15 Weather Maps Global weather maps are now supported for particular areas of the world. Selecting weather maps from the menu will take you to the weather map screen. You can select one of your six world cities from the selector across the top. Using the MENU option fetch map will connect to the Internet and download the latest maps. The map is stored on your device for later viewing offline. When a map is available Fizz Traveller 2 will show the map under the world cities. Additional options available when a map is displayed are: Smartphone - Pan/Zoom Zoom - When the map is selected, the map can be zoomed using the navigation pad, pressing right makes the map bigger and left smaller. Pan - When you have zoomed in on a map, press the action key and the bottom left icon will change and the navigate pad can be used to pan left/right/up/down across the image. A small map in the top right shows the current position of the on screen image in relation to the entire image In Pan and Zoom mode pressing the action button toggles Pan/Zoom * Toggles between the satellite map and the weather map Focus can only be returned to the city selector when in zoom mode Pocket PC - Pan/Zoom Zoom - When the map is selected, the map can be zoomed by tapping the left navigation icon, pressing right makes the map bigger and left smaller. Pan - When you have zoomed in on a map, you can use the right icon to pan left/right/up/down across the image. A small map in the top right shows the current position of the on screen image in relation to the entire image The two middle icons allow you to choose between the satellite map and the weather map Focus can only be returned to the city selector when in zoom mode Airport Delays If you want to see how the weather could affect your travel plans over the next 48 hrs, you can now download airport delays for over 300 major airports around the world. From the MENU Select Airports, choose which one of your six favorite cities you wish to see the delays for and then choose Fetch delays from the MENU The second selector will allow you to choose which airport you want to see the delays for. Select the icon and below it you will see a description, telling you why the delay is occurring All weather data supplied by CustomWeather Inc NOTE The average size of a standard weather forecast fetch for one city, not including maps or airport delays, is generally 7-8 KB. Your service provider sets the cost of your GPRS usage and Fizz Software Ltd takes no responsibility for costs incurred. Please monitor your GPRS download usages at all times. 16 Options Fizz Traveller 2 has various user configurations that can be set from the options screen. The main options screen is accessed via the View Scroll bar Effects Fizz Traveller 2 has got various scrolling effects to make the interface look fantastic. If you have an older device, you can choose to turn these effects off. Home Screen Fizz Traveller 2 can now be set to open on a particular screen when starting. If you'd prefer to see the weather every time you start, just change the starting home screen drop list. Timeout There are two options available here, Default means that after a set period of time, set by the operating system, the device Home screen will come to the front. If Override is selected, then Fizz Traveller will always be at the front. Weather Auto Updating Fizz Traveller 2 supports auto updating weather. You can set this option and Fizz Traveller 2 will take care of connecting to the Internet on a regular basis and fetching the weather for all your 6 favorite cities, keeping your forecast constantly up to date. Currency Auto Updating Fizz Traveller 2 supports auto updating currencies You can set this option and Fizz Traveller 2 will take care of connecting to the internet on a regular basis and fetching the latest currencies, keeping your currencies constantly up to date. Language Fizz Traveller 2 can be set to run in many languages. When initially installed, Fizz Traveller 2 asks what language you want to run in. That language is always used unless altered using the options screen. To change the language used, select a new language from the drop-list. If the language has been changed - when you select 'Done' Fizz Traveller 2 will change the language it s running in. We advise you to quit and restart Fizz Traveller 2 before continuing. Set Device Time - Atomic Clock Fizz Traveller 2 can set your handheld device from an internet Atomic clock if you have an internet connection. Using the Menu, select Update Device Time. Fizz Traveller 2 will connect via the Internet to the atomic clock, and display the date and time local to GMT. If you confirm you want the date and time altered, your time will be updated. Use the MENU to access more options - see below. NOTE: THIS PROCESS CAN TAKE A LONG TIME TO COMPLETE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF TASKS IN YOUR CALENDAR. Network You can now select your preferred Data Connection, either Internet, Corp-Network or Proxy Date/Time Time throughout the product can now be shown as 24 Hour or shown according to how your locale time setting is defined. IntelliTimers To reduce battery usage, a new option is available where Fizz Traveller only creates fast timers (e.g. second hand) when the device is connected to the AC. 17 Fizz Traveller 2 Homescreen Plug-in The Traveller home screen plug-in is the ideal way to keep track of your 6 favorite cities date, time and weather conditions from your device home screen. The home screen will be localized in one of 6 languages, the same language you have chosen in Fizz Traveller 2. Installing the Fizz Traveller Homescreen Plug-in The plug-in will be installed at the same time as Fizz Traveller 2. To activate it you must first launch Fizz Traveller at least once. When you have done this, the plug-in will appear on your phones Today screen by default, you can turn this off by going to Settings/Today and taping the Items tab. Deselecting Fizz Traveller will remove it from the Today screen. NB. You must have Fizz Traveller 2 installed in order for the Home Screen Plug-in to work. Navigating and Using the Plug-in (Smartphone) Picking the layout Once installed, you need to switch to the Fizz Traveller home screen. On your device from the current home screen select Start, Settings, Home Screen. Choose the any of the Fizz Traveller home screen layouts available. Your home screen should now contain the Fizz Traveller home area. The home area has 5 panels accessed by moving left or right once selected. Launch Traveller Pressing action on this panel starts Fizz Traveller. City current day This panel shows the city name, date, time and current day forecast if still valid. So for example, you could move left/right to get to the current day panel, then pressing action cycles through all 6 cities looking at the current day information. You must have Fizz Traveller 2 installed for the home screen plugin to function correctly. You will need to have started Fizz Traveller 2 at least once before the home screen plugin shows any information. The home screen plugin will only work on Smartphone 2003 devices. Navigating and Using the Plug-in (Pocket PC) Launch Traveller Tapping the Fizz Traveller icon on the left of the plug-in will launch Fizz Traveller. City current day This panel shows the city name, date, time and current day forecast if still valid.
