3 New Features Remote RMM-1400 Intelligent Site Management Device Release Notes Version 5.10 August 2013 These release notes document new features for the Remote RMM-1400 version This document also provides software update instructions. Instructions for use of this product are detailed in the following documents: Remote RMM-1400 Intelligent Site Management Device Command Reference Guide Remote RMM-1400 Intelligent Site Management Device Configuration Guide Remote RMM-1400 Intelligent Site Management Device Installation Guide New Features The Remote RMM-1400 version 5.10 includes the following new features: State Measurements (Issue 69293) Ability to Search Log Files (Issue 72834) Dynamic Alarm Entries (Issue 72933) Web Interface for Module Configuration (Issue 72991) Support for Sprint Wireless Network (Issue 73076) Multiple client routes for site VPN (Issue 73184) Web Service for Controls (Issue 73336) GSM Modem SIM PIN Support (Issue 67746) State Measurements State measurements are measurement table entries that provide transition and duration information for state changes on alarm entries and status points. The measurement table entry provides a new originator which contains a function that references an alarm entry or status point and calculates the measurement value. 1
4 New counts the number of times an originator (alarm entry or status point) transitions to a particular state within a measurement interval. The transition count is reported as a whole number and resets to zero at the start of each measurement counts the number of seconds an originator (alarm entry or status point) is in a particular state within a measurement interval. The duration count is reported as a sum for the current measurement interval and is rounded to the nearest whole second. The duration count will reset to zero at the start of each measurement interval. The following example shows the configuration command to create a measurement that tracks the number of times the Indoor_HighTemp alarm entry transitions to the major state: config meas-table entry HighTempTransitions (alarm-entry Indoor_HighTemp, major) The following example shows the configuration command to create a measurement that tracks the number of seconds the Door_Open status point on Network Element SideDoor is in the Opened state: config meas-table entry DoorOpenDuration (status-point ne SideDoor Door_Open, Opened) Ability to Search Log Files The Show Log Search command can be used to perform case insensitive searches within Remote system log files based on specific criteria (pattern). When a search pattern is specified, the requested recent number of lines (most recent) that match that pattern will display. The following example shows how to search the last 200 lines of the log for the text ethernet X where X represents ports 1 through 4: show log-file 200 search ethernet [1-4] Dynamic Alarm Entries Dynamic alarm entries are created by applications that are installed and running on the Remote RMM Dynamic alarms function like CLI-created alarms and can be displayed with the show alarm-entries command. The dynamic alarms are not visible in the Remote's running configuration and cannot be modified from the CLI. Web Interface for Module Configuration The module web configurator is a basic web interface that enables configuring modules and add-ons. This web interface is used for initial site installation and small, individual site changes once a site is managed in Optima. The module web configurator enables: 2
5 New Features Module installation Application configuration (enable and disable) NE set configuration (including creation of NEs in the set) NE configuration (types and parameters) Global parameters Access to the web interface requires a valid user name and password. The inactivity timeout used for CLI sessions also applies to web sessions. However, if CLI sessions are configured to never time out the web session will automatically default to a 15 minute timeout. Support for Sprint Wireless Network The Remote RMM-1400 version 5.10 supports activation and data connectivity on the Sprint wireless network. The functions that are supported are: Client-initiated configuration, PRL updates, and firmware updates. Network-initiated configuration, PRL updates, and firmware updates. Hands-free activation. The client-initiated activities are available by using the diag controller serial modem activate command with one of the following commands: sprint-config sprint-factory-reset sprint-firmware sprint-prl Multiple client routes for site VPN The Remote RMM-1400 provides secure, remote access to NEs at a site over a VPN. The client-route option to the config controller openvpn command now supports the ability to configure multiple client routes. This is useful for establishing remote access to multiple subnets at the site. Web Service for Controls The Remote RMM-1400 now provides a web service for getting and setting the values of parameters and for executing control actions. External applications, such as Optima, can use this web service to streamline the process of configuring parameters and controls. 3
