1 1 August 9, 2017 Maxum Workstation Update Release Notes Requirements Maxum Workstation Software will operate best on computers equipped with a multi-core processor, with at least 4 GB RAM (8+ GB recommended). This installation needs up to 2 GB of free disk space. You must log in with Administrator privileges. This will ensure unrestricted access to the system registry. Otherwise, the installation will fail. Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher must be installed. Maxum Workstation Software has been tested successfully with the following operating systems: Windows 7 Professional SP1 (32 bit and 64 bit) Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit) Windows 10 Enterprise (64 bit) Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 (32 bit and 64 bit) Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (64 bit) Windows Server 2016 Standard (64 bit) Patch Installation Instructions: 1) Download the zip file and Readme files to your workstation 2) Unzip the entire contents of the zip file (.exe file and two {XXX} folders) 3) Run the.exe file to upgrade your Workstation and then upgrade Maxum software to each GC as desired. Note: Make sure in step two that the entire contents of the zip file are unzipped to the same folder. All files are required for the patch upgrade. Description of Changes GCP Workstation: 1) Problem: Incorrect text is displayed for the MPa pressure unit selection in the options window used to select display units. Solution: The displayed text has been corrected.

2 2 2) Problem: When selecting any calibrated group in GCP and then selecting "Show calibration", an exception is created and the calibration is not shown as long as the GCP instrument remains open. Symptom: If viewing a newly added group or existing group that has not been calibrated or is using a surrogate peak, then the "Show Calibration works if it is the first peak selected after opening a connection with GCP. As long as the instrument remains open, all calibrated groups work fine for "Show Calibration". The workaround prior to patch 1 was to add a dummy peak or select one that was not calibrated first after opening an instrument connection. Solution: The logic for drawing the information on the screen was modified to make sure that the blank chart was ready before data was written to it. 3) Problem: GCP crashes if you access the result configuration table after saving the column settings. Solution: The logic was modified to correctly save the column settings in the result configuration table to allow GCP to open it successfully during subsequent sessions with GCP. 4) Problem: Exception when linking appai to a limit in GCP. Symptom: When using GCP to link an appai to a limit and save the change, a database exception for invalid foreign key for the appai table is thrown. Solution: The condition throwing the exception was corrected. 5) Problem: Live Chromatogram Help needs to be updated to clearly state that the feature requires Maxum 5.3 software in the GC to work. Solution: GCP Help files were updated appropriately. 6) Problem: Restore Database does not work to a MicroSam. Solution: The restore database software in GCP was modified to provide a reset command after the files had been restored so that the MicroSam would restart automatically. 7) Problem: Text entry in the Peak table is not working properly if "enter" is pressed on a text field in the last row of the peak table. Solution: A correction was made to allow the last row to function correctly with the enter key. 8) Problem: APC (Advance Personal Computer) entries appear incorrectly in GCN as Gateways to Advance Data Highway. Solution: APC entries will be blocked from appearing in the GCN list of network devices. 9) Enhancement: Manual Response Factor column in the Peak Table should be visible by default. Peak Table default columns changed to include Manual Response Factor column.

3 3 10) Problem: Reload From MBM file option is only available after a method is saved. Solution: The software was modified to allow MBM files to be reloaded. 11) Problem: Fahrenheit calculation of temperature ramp rates is not calculated correctly. Symptom: The display and processing of the ramp is incorrect when Fahrenheit is used for Programmed Temperature Applications. Solution: The temperature ramp calculation was corrected when Fahrenheit units are specified. 12) Enhancement: Simulated Distillation result IDs are limited to 100 for renumbering. The limit was increased to 900 for renumbering SimDis IDs. 13) Problem: Method exports are sometimes much slower using 5.3. Solution: Method exports were optimized to improve export performance. 14) Problem: In Network-Serial Settings of GCP the communication standard setting for Port 1 will not show correctly if "Default" is chosen. Solution: GCP was modified to show the correct communication settings when default was selected. 15) Problem: The GCP User Manual released with the 5.30 DVD is an older version. Solution: The latest GCP User Manual from January 2017 will be installed with this patch. 16) Problem: The numeric entries are not always taken correctly when editing methods. In some cases numbers are very slow to display after pressing a numeric key. In other cases the entries are not entered correctly.. Solution: Software was modified to give better performance and more reliable data entry. 17) Enhancement: Change the default temperature setpoint when a new temperature controller is defined. Current is 100 degc, Desired Change is to 60 degc. The pressure controller default was also changed from 100 kpa to 60 kpa. 18) Problem: SimDis peak properties are not updating on the Calibration and Response Factor Correction page. Solution: Software modified to see properties as they change. 19) Problem: Printed chromatograms do not always show the correct source if a chromatogram is printed from file and then later from an analyzer. Solution: Modification was made to pick up the current source correctly. 20) Enhancement: Modify chromatogram overlay with tool buttons for more overlay features (e.g. batch overlay from different detectors). 21) Enhancement: Add the choice to select a chromatogram overlay directly from an analyzer as well as from a file.

4 4 22) Problem: ChromViewer crashes when it's associated ChromChart is closed if the dialog window is still open. Solution: Close OverlayPropertyDlg when its associated ChromChart is closed to prevent ChromViewer crash. 23) Problem: Cycle time in the overlay selection dialog should be in local time instead of GMT time.. Solution: Time shown changed to local time. 24) Enhancement: Add numerical fill down context menu to numeric columns of a method tables (the menu becomes available after selecting at least two contiguous cells in a column). Database: 1) Problem: Serial port configuration changes in the Serial Settings menu disables the Enable Modbus TCP checkbox. Solution: Software was modified to insure that the state of the Enable Modbus TCP checkbox is retained during serial modifications. 2) Problem: A nuisance debug message is filling up log files: setting module to error. Solution: This debug message is now turned off when not in debug mode. 3) Enhancement: A warning alarm has been added to let customers know that the Maxum calendar clock is invalid. (A typical source for this warning would be loss of power with a low battery on Syscon that needs replaced.). HMI: 1) Problem: Real-Time Chromatogram cannot be viewed on the local HMI. Symptom: After selecting View Chrom, after a few seconds an hour glass is displayed and the display reverts back to the Maintenance home screen. Solution: The problem was corrected by building with the correct version of Chart.dll. 2) Problem: Realtime Chrom on the Workstation and Local HMI will not allow autoscale to be disabled.

5 5 Solution: The code was modified to allow autoscaling to be turned off. Stream Logger : 1) Enhancement: Stream Logger should be hardened to run continuously through a wider set of conditions long-term. Software was modified to continue operation throughout a wider set of conditions.
