1 Date Subject 01/2017 Software Update Procedure for GRX-3080 Software update procedure GRX-3080 Follow this process to update the GRX-3080 software, and to update a GRX-3000 from generic to Jaguar Land Rover GRX-3080 specification. Note: The location of the icons shown on the display pictures in this procedure may differ slightly to those on the GRX-3080, but the essential information is always correct. NOTE: If the unit is a generic GRX-3000 version an update kit (GHU-3080) to bring the hardware to the Jaguar Land Rover GRX-3080 specification is available from Bosch Automotive Service Solutions:

2 Step 1. Check the current software version The update files required for the GRX depend on the current software version of the unit. Check the current software version of the GRX and download the matching update files using the following process: Switch the GRX on. Go to PRINT/VIEW or UTILITY menu. If the PRINT/VIEW contains VERSION INFO; select VERSION INFO. If the PRINT/VIEW does not contain VERSION INFO; go to UTILITY menu, than select VERSION INFO. Determine the current software version of the GRX The info screen shows the current software version of the tester. Check the current version and determine the required download file based on the table below. 3 Step 2. Preparing the GRX for update During the following update process, the SD card will be formatted and therefore any stored data will be lost. To save any historical data, remove the SD card from the GRX and save the files on the SD card onto a local PC. Insert the SD card into the local PC Store the historical data Store the.csv files stored on the SD card to the local PC first to prevent loss of the data during the software update process. Insert the SD card into the GRX Insert the SD card back in to the unit. Select the UTILITY menu in the Switch the GRX on and select UTILITY in the main menu. Format the SD card Select FORMAT CARD in the UTILITY menu. Format the SD card Select YES when the warning screen appears. Step 3. Download the software update package After checking the current software version on the GRX-3080, the correct software level update can be chosen. 1. Go to the Bosch web shop at the following address 2. Enter GRX-3080 in the KEYWORD SEARCH area. 3. Select the GRX-3080 from the list. NOTE: Each file requires a password before the software files can be extracted. Please refer to the following Administration Bulletins for the correct passwords: Jaguar JAB00053 Land Rover LAB00060

4 Step 4. Save the software update to the SD card Remove the SD card from the GRX Remove the SD card from the unit. Insert the SD card into the local PC Insert the SD card into the local PC. WARNING: DO NOT FORMAT THE SD CARD INSIDE THE LOCAL PC Save the required software update file to the SD card Save the software update file to the SD card from the location detailed in Step 2. Extract the MTRONICS folder file to the SD card Extract the MTRONICS folder from the.zip file to the SD card. Delete the.zip file from the SD card Delete the.zip file so that only the MTRONICS folder is present on the SD card. Remove the SD card from the local PC Remove the SD card from the local PC ready for the next Step.

5 Step 5. Update the GRX software After Steps 1 and 2 are completed, the GRX is now ready to be updated with the software update files located on the SD card. Follow the Steps below to update the GRX software. NOTE: If the incorrect software file has been downloaded to the SD card, the GRX will display the following warning message; Disk does not contain proper update files. If this warning is displayed, repeat Step 1 to 4 to add the correct software file. NOTE: If the s the following warning message; Data card error file or directory not found, the SD card has been inserted into the GRX without any files included. Repeat Step 1 to 4 to add the correct software file. Insert the SD card into the GRX Insert the programmed SD card in to the unit Select the UTILITY menu in the Switch the GRX on and select UTILITY in the main menu. Select the UPDATE menu in the Select UPDATE in the UTILITY menu. Update the GRX software Select option 1 SOFTWARE and select NEXT / OK. Update the GRX software As soon as the update warning screen appears, select YES. SUCCESS UPDATE COMPLETE Remove the software update information from the SD card After the software update is complete, remove the software update information from the SD card. This is to prevent the unit from continuously asking for an update. Select the UTILITY menu in the Switch the GRX on and select UTILITY in the main menu.

6 Format the SD card Select FORMAT CARD in the UTILITY menu. Format the SD card Select YES when the warning screen appears. Step 6. Final check After the software update of the GRX, the unit will have the latest version of the software. Perform a final test to make sure that the correct software version has been uploaded to the unit. Select the Info menu in the GRX display Switch the GRX on and select INFO in the main menu. Select Version Info Select VERSION INFO in the INFO menu. Determine the current software of the GRX The version info screen shows the current software version of the tester. The current software version should be: V2.3 / E for the GRX-3080 If there are any concerns or issues with the GRX, the correct process is to raise a tooling and equipment electronic product quality report (EPQR).
