3 1. Introduction 1. 1 Overview Sales Tracker provides a very practical and easy solution to collecting data. The operator can continuously scan the barcodes he/she needs to capture quickly, and automatically a default quantity of one is entered without having to touch the keypad. If a specific quantity is required at any time all the operator needs to do is to enter it on the keypad. There are three of these processes each creating its own csv file. Each file can be reviewed and edited at any time during scanning. Each of the three processes can be configured for the customer prior to installation Features Sales Tracker is User name and Password protected Names of the 3 data collection processes can be defined in AppStudio Sales Tracker monitors User file and reports any corruption User file is automatically sorted on upload The downloaded file name includes the process name and the user name Ability to have Customer /Project name displayed on screen Time and date stamps every entry Total record displayed on screen for each process View and delete data prior to downloading Edit quantities of each item prior to downloading 2. Customization 2.1 Application This application may be customized in the following different ways: Parameterization Vocabulary localization Language localization Barcode scanning symbology selection Section 3 describes the parameters that may be customized in Sales Tracker. These parameters are set in AppSource Studio. AppSource Studio also gives access to the vocabulary of the application. This allows the application to be translated into different languages. It also means that the application can be modified from the original wording to reflect the end user's requirements. For example, if an end user prefers the term User to User name, then the word User can be substituted. 4 All data input fields in Sales Tracker accept both keyboard and barcode scanning input. The barcode symbologies allowed are enabled/disabled globally in AppSource Studio. AppSource Studio is available for free download on the AppSource website. 2.2 Host Integration This application can communicate with the host over a number of different connection types, such as: WLAN USB It can also be integrated with the host in any one of several formats, including: Excel spreadsheet ODBC database Access database CSV files The desired connection and host format for a given deployment are set in AppSource Studio. This application uses AppSource Link to communicate operationally. AppSource Link gets the application s communications settings by importing the deployment Project that AppSource Studio creates when you customize the application. AppSource Link and AppSource Studio are available for free download on the AppSource website. 3. Parameter Settings 3.1 The use of parameters With the parameters the behavior and design of the application can be matched to the needs and requirements of the end-user. For example: The length of the input fields can be configured Each Process can be named within the parameter settings 3.2 Parameter setup All parameters are setup in AppSource Studio. 5 3.3 Parameter overview There are two main groups of parameters to configure: Scan Field Length - Configure the length of each data field. 6 4. Application 4.1 Log On Options: 1) The user is requested to enter their User name. When keying the operator can use the devices keypad or the SIP (Soft Input Panel) key pad located on the toolbar at the bottom right of the screen. If a valid User name is entered the unit will automatically ask for a Password. 2) After entering their Password the user will be required to press <ENTER> If the Password is correct the Main Menu will then be displayed. Format: Field Description Data Length User name 4 Password 4 3) If Exit is selected on the touch screen the device will exit from the application. Features: 1) If the User file is empty the default User name: SUPV and Password: 1234 will be entered into the devices user file, enabling the user to Log on and upload a new user file if he wishes (4.6). After logging on the default details will be deleted from the user file. 2) If the uploaded user file is corrupt the device will notify the user, delete the file and insert the default User name and Password. 7 4.2 Main Menu The menu options in Sales Tracker may be selected via the touch screen or via the keypad. The values of the keypad that correspond to the visual buttons are assigned according to the order of the visual buttons, starting from left to right, and top to bottom, as shown in the following example: Process 1 (Example = Receipt) = key 1 Process 1 (Example = Stock) = key 2 Process 1 (Example = Receipt) = key 3 Download Data = key 4 Upload User File = key 5 Log Off = key Process 1, 2 and 3 Screen 1 In all three processes the first screen invites the operator to scan the items barcode. 8 Screen 2 After scanning an item the operator is requested to enter the quantity. If no quantity is keyed in a default value of one is entered. The operator is then requested to scan another item and enter the quantity. When there are no more items to scan the operator can select Finish Back to Main Menu Finish takes the operator to Screen 3 Screen 3 On clicking the Finish key the operator is taken to the next menu screen. From this screen the operator has the following options. Continue Scanning takes the operator back to screen 1 Review File allows the operator to review and delete entries and edit the quantities of the items scanned in this Process Finish Scanning takes the operator back to the Main Menu BCP Apps - Sales Tracker - Version 1.00 Page 8 of 13

9 4.4 Reviewing Data By selecting Review File from the Processes Menu the operator can review the data already scanned. By tapping a selected entry the quantity of that entry can be edited. Delete selected entry Back to Main Menu Editing Quantity To amend the quantity the operator enters the new amount and presses <ENTER> on the keypad to confirm. Back to Review Data Deleting Entry When selecting an entry to delete the user is asked to confirm the action before the entry is deleted. BCP Apps - Sales Tracker - Version 1.00 Page 9 of 13

10 4.5 Downloading Data to Host By selecting Download Files from the Main Menu the device will display the Download Menu Review files By selecting Review Files from the Download Menu the operator can view the files about to be downloaded. Any of the displayed files can be deleted at this stage if required. The Data file name will include the Process name and the User name. BCP Apps - Sales Tracker - Version 1.00 Page 10 of 13

11 4.5.2 Download Files By selecting Download Files from the Download Menu the file will be downloaded to the host. The format of each file is the same: [Barcode],[Quantity],[Time and Date Stamp] Example: ,5,02/02/ :26:45 After successfully downloading, the files will be deleted and the user file uploaded. This message will be displayed if no user file is found. By clicking OK the device will return to the Main Menu. BCP Apps - Sales Tracker - Version 1.00 Page 11 of 13

12 4.6 Uploading User File from Host By selecting Upload User File from the Main Menu the User file can be uploaded from the Host manually. 4.7 User file The User file is in csv format. 13 4.7 Communications Error If the device has a problem communicating with the host a warning will be displayed on the screen. Clicking OK will return the user to the Main Menu with no data lost.
