1 How do I Post course content? Content is made up of folders, files, links, and assessments (this will be covered on page ## or see separate documentation). It is basically anything you want to share with the students in your course. This could be your course syllabus, a PowerPoint of your lecture, or a pdf of a reading assignment. Folders Folders are used to keep your course organized. You could add folders for each week of the course or use the folders to organize content by topics. Much like on your computer, you create folders and then put documents inside of them. In Blackboard, you must create a folder first and then post your items inside of it. You cannot create a folder and then move items into it. To create folders, follow these steps: 2. Turn the edit mode on. 3. Click Build Content 4. Click Create Folder. 5. Enter the folder information and folder options 6. Click on Submit.
2 Items Items are the things like PowerPoint slides, your syllabus, or reading documents. Most of your course content will be posted as an item. To create an item, follow these steps: 2. Go into a folder (optional) 3. Turn the Edit mode on 4. Click Build Content 5. Click on create Item 6. Complete the Add Item page 7. Click Submit
3 External Links External links are links to web pages outside of blackboard. These could be additional resources for the students, reading materials, or your own personal webpage. To create links, follow these steps: 2. Turn Edit Mode on 3. Click Build Content 4. Select URL 5. Enter a Name. This will become the link the students will click. 6. Enter the full URL including the (It is best to copy and paste the link from a web browser) 7. Add a description into the text box 8. Attach any content and enter any options 5 6 Click browse to find the file. (Optional) 9. Click on submit. Change Open to New Window to YES This ensures that the students don t accidently close out of blackboard when they exit off of the website.
4 Embedded Video You can add video to your course site. It can be something you have created on your computer or even right from YouTube. Using Blackboard 9.1 s Mashup feature, it makes it easy to share videos with your students. To add embedded video: 2. Turn Edit Mode on 3. Click Build Content 4. Select Video 5. Give your Video a Name (required) 6. Click on Browse My Computer and locate the file on your computer. 7. Fill out the video options. 8. Choose your standard Options 9. Click on Submit.
5 Alternatively you can do the following to use a video from YouTube. 1. Follow steps Click on Browse Mashups and select YouTube Video 3. Search for a video on YouTube 4. Browse and select the video you wish to add. Click on select 5. Create the Mashup Item, fill out the description box This information is automatically filled out when you select the Youtube video from the previous page. You can add a description of the video here and maybe information for the students so they know what the video is for.
6 6. Choose your Mashup Options. a. Thumnail creates a small image previewing the video and upon clicking will open a video player within Blackboard (as a pop up) b. Embeded puts the video on the course page and will play within blackboard with out opening up a player. c. Text Link does not show an image and upon clicking will open a video player within Blackboard (as a pop up) 7. Attach or Link Content (optional) a. If you have a question sheet, rubric, or anything else that may go along with the video, you can attach it here by clicking on Browse My Computer 8. Select your standard options 9. After you have selected all of your options you can click on Submit to add the Mashup (video) or click on Preview to see what it will look like.
