3 An Invitation To the Worldwide Forging Community: On behalf of the Forging Industry Association, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 19th International Forging Congress to be held in the United States, September 7-9,. IFC19 th The Congress will open September 7 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois.A complete technical and business program will follow over the next two days covering everything from automation to tooling technology. Several countries/regions have been asked to report on their local forging business conditions as well. Also occurring during this two day period will be an exhibition featuring almost 40 forging supplier companies displaying the latest technology and improvements in their respective areas. From September 11-12, all attendees from outside North America are welcome to attend plant tours based out of Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Los Angeles. See some of the most advanced forging, steel making and customer facilities in the United States. But perhaps the biggest reason to attend IFC is the networking it encourages between forging peers from across the globe. Congress Outline Technical Presentations Approximately 18 technical presentations from North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim covering the following topics: Automation Lubrication Die Life Materials Equipment Developments Net Shape Heating Systems Simulation World Forging Industry Business Conditions Delegates from the North America, Europe,Asia and the Pacific Rim will deliver overviews of forging industry business conditions in their respective regions. Overview of the World Steel Industry Peter Marcus, Managing Partner and CEO of World Steel Dynamics, will offer a detailed look at the steel industry across the globe. O Hare Airport 18.2 miles Exhibition Over September 8-9, almost 40 exhibitors will display their forging-related products and services. Attendees will be encouraged to tour the booths during meals and breaks, with private business negotiation available at anytime. Accompanying Persons Program The Congress will have programs that will feature places and venues of interest for accompanying persons to visit while delegates are in session. Programs will be offered during the main portion of the Congress in Chicago, as well as at the various optional plant tour locations. 5 Language & Translation Information Please note the official language of the 19th IFC will be English.All materials distributed prior to, or on-site will be in English including all presentations and accompanying printed or electronic materials. The organizers of IFC will not be responsible for providing translators. It is recommended the countries in need of translation services bring or hire their own. Translation booths will be provided at the Sheraton for countries notifying IFC of the need for such in advance. Look for more information on translation issues in the Official program and website to be made available beginning March. More Information A detailed program for the 19th International Forging Congress, including pricing and registration information, will be distributed beginning March. Watch the website for up-to-date information on the Congress. Attendees will also be able to register for all IFC events on the website also beginning March.
