This location is between the intersections of Birch Drive Northwest and East Beach Drive Northwest. North Portal Drive runs from 16 th Street Northwest in the north to East Beach Drive Northwest in the south. The posted speed limit is 25 MPH. This speed camera was installed in August 212. North Portal Drive Northwest is a bi-directional roadway with no centerline marking. It intersects Birch Drive NW and East Beach Drive NW. This site has the following characteristics: This site is located in a residential and wooded area with houses, driveways, and on-street parking on both sides of the street. The existing pavement is in good condition. There are stop signs and ramps at the intersections with Birch Drive and East Beach Drive. Crash Data Analysis From the Accident Summary Report provided for the dates between January 1, 21 and December 31, 212, there was only one crash at this location. Although the speed data analysis showed the mean and 85 th percentile speeds to be lower than the posted speed limit, the crash data did show a reduction in the number of crashes since the installation of the speed camera. Due to the crash data reduction along with the specific site characteristics of a residential neighborhood, there is a nexus between traffic safety and the speed camera at this location.
