8 Support Services - Overview > Group Services & & Experience FES Support Services is the specialist operating company within the Group, the divisions within this company include Audio Visual, Communications, Engineering, Fire and Security, High Voltage up to 66kV, Multi-Utility Installations and Property Services. These divisions can deliver standalone projects specific to their speciality service or can combine to deliver turnkey projects under a single management contract. Fundamental to our philosophy is a genuine commitment to understanding our clients requirements and to delivering the best solution - every time. 14 Long term Partnerships > Partnerships & & Frameworks FES focuses on developing long term partnerships with each of our clients. We have built our reputation on a collaborative and non-adversarial approach to project delivery that avoids the traditional claims and disputes commonly found within the construction and support services sectors. FES targets a small number of new clients in each year, in addition to following up all routine business opportunities. This focussed strategy has been especially successful in broadening our existing client base. As part of our on-going business reviews, we retain high level supply chain partnering agreements with our customers, the longest of which is with Miller who we have worked with for over 40 years. We also enjoy alliances with BAM, Bovis, Balfour Beatty and Sir Robert McAlpine together with strategic agreements with clients such as The Royal Bank of Scotland, AEGON, BAE, IML (Barclays), City of Glasgow, DHL, Virgin Trains East Coast and Babcock. All of these arrangements vary in style and formality, but have stood the test of time. In 2005 we recognised that a number of large end user clients were becoming frustrated with the traditional main contractor route to tendering, especially projects where the building services element was in excess of 50% of the total spend. FES developed a more targeted approach to business development which allowed entry to tendering opportunities at the earliest stage. This was mainly through frameworks for public and private bodies and allowed direct contact with a number of end user clients. 14

16 Quality ISO > All FES Group Companies are ISO 9001 accredited. FES is committed to achieving Zero Defects throughout our projects. We have identified the key principles in delivering Zero Defects as: Ownership Responsibility Commitment We programme each of our projects with a focus on Stop Points for Quality Assurance checks to validate and demonstrate to the Commissioning and Quality Managers that the programmed task is complete, with Zero Defects. These checks allow a verification that all services are installed and complete in accordance with the design and specification. Our comprehensive management structures provide the necessary resources to undertake these Quality Assurance checks and provide personal responsibility to ensure complete delivery of the Zero Defects culture. We design our project delivery strategies to include sectional completion of allocated areas and systems to individual Project Managers. Through this strategy we meet the objectives of ownership and responsibility by placing the responsibility for quality with these individuals. By programming in Stop Points for quality checks, we are able to demonstrate quality on an on-going basis to identify and resolve any issues. This approach, coupled with sectional completion of areas reduces the volume of commissioning at the end of the project and streamlines the completion, commissioning and handover process. 16

17 Environmental ISO > All FES Group Companies are ISO accredited. FES is fully committed to minimising the impact to the environment caused by our work. To meet the stringent environmental targets we have set ourselves, we have developed an integrated set of policies and procedures to ensure we reduce our carbon footprint. Every project we undertake has a specific site waste management plan to ensure as much material as possible is recycled. All waste collection areas comprise separate containers for the various waste streams to allow waste to be segregated by type. In this way, we can maximise the recycling of materials such as paper, cardboard, wood, metals, plastics and glass. During strip out works, assessment is made of all components and where possible items are sent for specialist dismantling and reclamation of any precious metals or other reusable materials. FES is delighted to have been awarded the British Safety Council Globe of Honour award for 2012 in recognition of services delivered to Prudential. 17

18 Safety ISO > All FES Group Companies are OHSAS accredited. FES is committed to Health and Safety across all areas of our business. Our in-house Health and Safety team provides a comprehensive planning, management and monitoring service for all aspects of safety. The Safety Team work with the Project / Delivery Team to create a Site Specific Safety Management Plan for each project. This plan includes the specific processes, procedures and documentation required for the successful management of health, safety and wellbeing of operatives, client staff, visitors and members of the public. The FES commitment to Zero Harm is demonstrated in our accident frequency rate which has been below the industry average since 2007 following a major investment by FES in safety management resources and procedures. Not content with bettering the industry norm, our Safety Management Team have worked hard to implement our Zero Tolerance policy across the scope of our business. 18

Our in-house team of specialists provide Energy Management services both internally and externally to our clients. The Energy Management Team works with the Project Delivery Teams and direct with clients to create an Energy Management Plan for each project. This plan includes specific processes, procedures and documentation required for the successful management of energy. FES s Energy Management Accreditation is testament to our best in class service that Identifies and Manages the risks surrounding future energy supply. Our Energy Management Team will measure and monitor energy use to identify where efficiency improvements can be made. The team work to improve overall performance to cut energy consumption and bills, reduce carbon emissions and meet government reduction targets. 19
