1 Installing NAP locked down browser - WINDOWS This is a step by step instruction on the installation and use of the NAP locked down browser. The NAP locked down browser is used in assessments to stop students from using other applications or websites during assessment events. If you have any issues please contact Cabra IT. WINDOWS 1. Use the Locked down browser link on the Online National Assessment Platform home page. ( 2. Select locked down browser in the Tools and resources box -> scroll to Windows -> download the required file. If you already have.net or later installed, use the.msi file as it is a much smaller file to download. If you are unsure if the computer has.net then use the.exe file. Note: All devices need to be connected to the internet so that you can download the app and install it. Install.msi Navigate to the locked down browser installer file (NAP Locked down browser.msi) using the operating system s file explorer. The file will be in the Downloads folder Double-click NAP Locked down browser.msi. The installation wizard will launch. 2 2. Wait for the installation to be completed. 3. When the installer indicates that it has completed the installation, select Finish. 4. Verify that the NAP Locked down browser shortcut is available on the Desktop. Install.exe Navigate to the locked down browser installer file (NAP Locked down browser.exe) using the operating system s file explorer. The file will be in the Downloads folder. 1. Double-click NAP Locked down browser.exe. The installation wizard will launch. It will inform you that the software will be installed on the computer. 2. 3 4. Depending upon your computer setup, you may be asked to confirm the install of the NAP Locked down browser. Select Yes. 5. Wait for the install to occur. 6. Select Close. 6 Run The NAP Locked down browser Cabra Dominican College Installing NAP browser Windows Page 3

4 1 1. Select the Windows Start button and search for NAP Locked down browser. 2. Select NAP Locked down browser to launch it. 3. Refer to 'Connection steps' at the end of this document. Refer to the Windows install section earlier in this guide. Repeating the install steps with the newly downloaded file will upgrade the current installation. 5 Uninstall on Windows 8.1 and 10 These steps can only be performed after you have exited the NAP Locked down browser. 1. Select the Windows icon Select Settings. 3. Select System. 4. 6 8. Select Uninstall. 9. If you are presented with another popup asking you to confirm uninstall, select Yes. If the.exe version was installed, additional steps are required: 10. Select Uninstall. 11. Select Close. 1 Note: The uninstall process on Windows leaves two folders on the computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\nap Locked down browser C:\Users\*******\AppData\Roaming\SafeExamBrowser. 7 Run device check When you start the App you will see the Launchpad. 1. Select Device check. 2. Check the device. Refer to the Technical Readiness Testing user guide. 3.
