5 Overview enables yu t cllect the required data fr review, analysis and checking, and t send it t Oracle fr use by their License Management Services divisin. uses SQL queries t the underlying Oracle databases, and enriches that data with data discvered by Universal Discvery's hst discveries. These privileges must be granted t the DB user whse credentials are used t gather the data. 6 Upgrade Path Yu can upgrade frm Oracle LMS 1.0 r If yu are running Oracle LMS 1.0 r 1.10, simply install Oracle LMS Hw t Deply the Sftware This task cntains the fllwing steps: 1. Prerequisite - Install UCMDB versin CUP 1 r abve This sftware requires the UCMDB versin t be CUP 1 r abve. If UCMDB CUP 1 r abve is already installed, ignre this step and mve t step 2. Otherwise, perfrm the fllwing: T install UCMDB 10.01, fllw the instructins in the interactive HP Universal CMDB Deplyment Guide. T install UCMDB CUP 1 r abve, fllw the instructins in the HP Universal CMDB CUP Release Ntes fr the CUP that yu are installing. Nte: Yu are recmmended t ensure yu have installed the latest Universal CMDB CUP. 2. Prerequisite - Install Universal Discvery Cntent Pack 12 Update 1 (CP 12.01) r abve This sftware requires Universal Discvery Cntent Pack 12 Update 1 (CP 12.01) r abve. If CP r abve is already installed, ignre this step and mve t step 3. Otherwise, fllw the instructins fr installing CP r abve in the HP UCMDB Universal Discvery Cntent Pack Update (CP) Release Ntes fr the Cntent Pack Update that yu are installing. Nte: Yu are recmmended t ensure yu have installed the latest Universal Discvery Cntent Pack Update. 3. Deply the package a. Outline Fllwing is the discvery prcess fr cllecting Oracle LMS data: Cnfiguring and activating discvery, t discver (a) the servers hsting Oracle databases, and (b) virtualizatin infrmatin Discvering Oracle database instances Running the LMS jb n the discvered Oracle database servers t cllect the LMS data Task Nte: This part f the dcument describes all the task steps. Yu may already have cmpleted sme f these steps. If s, yu d nt have t repeat such steps, thugh yu shuld ensure the cnfiguratins are accurate. Fr example, yu d nt need t create a new Management Zne if yu already have ne. Yu must have full read access rights t the target Oracle database server. 12 1. Prerequisite - Set up prtcl credentials Yu must cnfigure the fllwing prtcls: NTCMD, SSH, Telnet r UDA; t discver the hsts where Oracle is installed. Generic DB Prtcl (SQL); t discver Oracle instances. VMware VIM; t discver virtualizatin tplgy. Nte: If yu prefer nt t cnfigure SID in the Oracle credential, yu can discver the Oracle SID in either f the fllwing ways: Run the Basic Sftware Cnfiguratin Discvery Activity t cllect the SID infrmatin. i. G t Data Flw Management > Universal Discvery > Zne-Based Discvery > Management Znes > select a Management Zne > click Activity > Sftware Cnfiguratin > Basic. > select New Discvery ii. Cnfigure the activity. Make sure yu select the Run Oracle Discvery check bx n the Discvery Preferences page. iii. Right-click the new activity yu just cnfigured and select Activate t discver the Oracle CI with SID infrmatin. Run the Data Flw Management > Universal Discvery > Discvery Mdules/Jbs > Discvery Mdules > Hsts and Resurces > Basic Applicatins > Hst Applicatins by Shell jb t discver the Oracle SID. 2. Create a Management Zne G t Data Flw Management > Universal Discvery > Zne Based Discvery, and click the buttn. Select New Management Zne. Click the buttn. d. Select New Discvery Activity > Infrastructure. The New Infrastructure Discvery Activity dialg bx appears. Click the buttn. iv. Select New Discvery Activity > Sftware Cnfiguratin > Virtualizatin. The New Virtualizatin Discvery Activity dialg bx appears. v. Create the activity and activate it by fllwing the nline prmpts thrugh the activity wizard. Yu must enable discvery f the virtualizatin technlgies that are in yur envirnment. 5. Create a Database Discvery activity and activate it a. G t Data Flw Management > Universal Discvery > Zne Based Discvery > Management Znes. b. Select the apprpriate Management Zne. c. Click the buttn. d. Select New Discvery Activity > Sftware Cnfiguratin > Database. The New Database Sftware Cnfiguratin Discvery Activity dialg bx appears. e. Create the activity and activate it by fllwing the nline prmpts thrugh the activity wizard. Yu must enable Run Oracle Discvery in the Discvery Preferences page f the activity wizard. 6. 15 Hw t Access the Oracle LMS Data 1. In Mdeling, navigate t Reprts > Custm Reprts > Auditing > Oracle LMS Reprt. 2. Drag Oracle LMS Reprt t the right pane. Nte: Yu may als duble-click the reprt t make it display in the pane. 3. Click Exprt LMS Data. A Save dialg bx is displayed. The data is saved t a zip file named, by default, OracleLMS<date><time> cntaining the fllwing CSV files: LMS_DBA_USERS.csv LMS_DETAIL.csv LMS_OPTIONS.csv LMS_OVERVIEW.csv LMS_V$LICENSE.csv LMS_V$SESSION.csv See als "Hw t Edit the LMS Data Custmer Fields" n the next page. Tip: Yu may als access the Oracle LMS Data by exprting it using the JMX Cnsle. 1. Lg in t the JMX Cnsle n the UCMDB server. 2. Click Discvery Manager, and brwse t exprtoraclelmsdata. 3. Enter a suitable value (an integer) fr custmerid. 4. Click Invke. Assuming UCMDB is installed in C:\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer, the file is saved t the path C:\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer\runtime\discvery\custmer_<custmerId>, where <custmerid> is the number yu entered in the previus step. 16 Nte: The LMS data frm UCMDB is created in a frmat required by Oracle. Besides this ZIP file, Oracle may require ther infrmatin as part f the LMS data cllectin. If required, yu will have t wrk n that with Oracle. Hw t Edit the LMS Data Custmer Fields 1. G t Mdeling > IT Universe Manager. 2. In Search CIs mde, search fr the Oracle LMS Audit Custmer Data CI in the tplgy map r the CI Selectr, and select it. 3. In the Advanced Pane, select the Prperties tab and click Edit. The Cnfiguratin Item Prperties dialg bx is displayed. 4. Click Dcument Cntent. A file cntaining the custmer fields is displayed. Yu may edit and save the file as required. Names appear in sme reprts. Additinally, names may als appear in the Updated by attribute in the CI Prperties page if a CI was updated by a jb. Names can be changed at any time, hwever, the Jb ID attribute that is assciated with the jb name des nt change. Preferences Page Enables yu t select preferences fr the Oracle LMS Audit activity. Yu may select this ptin and cmplete these fields here, if yu want them t apply t all databases queried by this activity. Otherwise, yu may set unique values fr these fields in the DcumentCntent attribute f the AuditDcument CI instance (named Oracle LMS Audit Custmer Data) stred in the database. 25 Oracle LMS Data Cllectin by SQL Jb Adapter This jb uses the Oracle LMS data cllectin by SQL adapter. Discvery Flw 1. Cnnect t the target Oracle database with Oracle SID r sessin ID using the Generic DB prtcl (SQL). 2. Run the SQL query in the target Oracle database and save the result t the prbe database. 3. Send the cllected data frm the prbe database t the UCMDB server. 29 Trubleshting and Limitatins Prblem: The warning message "Cnfiguratin file X size (Y) is t big" appears when running the Oracle LMS Data Cllectin jb.
