USE A STEEL TAPE MEASURE 1. Depending on the angle of the bay, you can either position the shutter frame templates close to each other (as per the diagram on page 3) or you may wish to see a gap between each shutter frame after it has been installed (see adjoining photo). You need to decide which type of shutter installation is best for your. If you have handles, ensure the frames will sit clear of these. 2. We recommend using an L frame for this installation. Refer to our choosing your slat size and frame depth guide (page 4). 3. Use a steel tape and measure s at 3 different places, select the SMALLEST width and SMALLEST height. The dimension you convey should include the frame templates (we never add on for the frame). 4. Ideally all sections in a bay should be ordered at the same height. This ensures all rails and slats line up correctly. 5. If you have an inward opening please speak to our team for expert advice. FRAME TEMPLATES Find these at the end of this guide. Use these to understand where your shutter frames will be fixed. 3 Step 1 L frame guidance. In this guide, there are various L frames to choose from. Your range, size and possible handles will determine what frame you will need. Bespoke Deeper L frames can overcome large handles, such as those found on upvc s. MDF & Phoenix ranges: 60mm and 76mm Plain L frame. Waterproof ABS range: 50mm and 63mm Beaded L frames Please note: bespoke deeper frames are available on request Bird s eye view of and frame looking down from above. When taking measurements, remember to include the width of the frame (38mm) left, right, top and bottom (if using a 4 sided frame). Decide which slat size (47mm, 64mm, 89mm & 114mm) you will order. 2. Observe the clearance space required for your slat when they are fully open. (As indicated in red) 3. Add this figure to 26mm, which is the thickness of the panel. Eg. For the 64mm slat: 26mm + 20mm = 46mm, therefore select the 50mm or deeper frame. Why you may need a deeper frame? If ordering the 114mm slat or if you are allowing for handles. To accommodate handles and bigger slats, deeper frames are available. 5 Extra Deep L Frames. This frame works for all slat sizes. This frame is often used on upvc type s with large handles. The Extra Deep frame will allow slats to tilt and avoid hitting the handle. Position your Extra Deep Frame templates as show on the previous diagram The drawing below shows the difference the deeper frame makes, allowing slats to tilt and avoid the handle surround 64mm slats handle shutter hinges here The frame can mount either on the wall or frame. The bottom piece of frame will often sit on the sill. Measure each section width as per the RED lines, remember the width you supply to us should include the frame on both sides! 2. Measure the drop as per the RED lines 3. Measure from sill up to GREEN line for a dividing midrail location 4. Measure from sill up to BLUE line for a cafe style or tier on tier shutter design 5. Ensure frame templates are positioned on sill clear of opening handles 6. We can supply trim in a match to the shutters if your shutter frames will need a small gap between each frame. For a 3 section angled bay, we recommend using a 4 sided L frame, when selecting full height or tier on tier shutters.
