2 Spring Workshop Schedule Registration Deadline: April 3, 2006 Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) Start Date: Thursday, April 13, 2006 Start Time: 6:00 PM *Location: Doe & Ingalls, Danvers, MA Instructor: Barbara Ordione, CPIM *See pages 7/8 for location directions! Classes meet once per week for 10 weeks. Barbara has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience, and has held various positions in operations and materials management. Her education includes a BA from Plymouth State University in NH. Barbara has been a member of APICS since 1993 and she has been instructing certification review and fundamental classes since Master Planning of Resources (MPR) Start Date: Monday April 10, 2006 Start Time: 6:00 PM *Location: Smith & Nephew, Andover, MA Instructor: Preston Holleman CPIM, *See pages 7/8 for location directions! Classes meet once per week for 9 weeks. Preston has more than 30 years of experience in Materials Management, holding both individual contributor and management positions. Arthur has been instructing certification review classes for both Southern NH and North shore Chapters since 1993, and has served APICS as VP of Education for the Southern NH chapter. 4 CPIM Course Descriptions Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) Recommended Prerequisite: None Explore the basic concepts in managing the flow of materials in a supply chain. In the Basics you get a complete overview of material flow from internal and external suppliers to and from your organization. Topics include: Elements of the Supply Chain Just-in-Time (JIT) Total Quality Management (TQM) Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP II) Demand Planning Capacity Management Master Planning of Resources (MPR) Recommended Prerequisite: BSCM Explore the processes used to develop sales and operations plans and identify and assess internal and external demand and forecasting requirements. The course focuses on the importance of producing achievable master schedules that are consistent with business policies, objectives and resource constraints. 5 CPIM Course Descriptions (Cont.) Detailed Scheduling & Planning (DSP) Recommended Prerequisite: BSCM Focus on the various techniques for material and capacity scheduling. Study detailed descriptions of material requirements planning, (MRP) capacity requirements planning, (CRP) inventory management, practices and procurement and supplier planning. Topics Include: Recognizing Techniques and Practices of Inventory Management Mechanics of the Detailed Material Planning Process Planning Operations to Support the Priority Plan Planning Procurement and External Sources of Supply Execution & Control of Operations (ECO) Recommended Prerequisite: BSCM Focus on the areas of prioritizing and sequencing work, executing work plans and implementing controls, reporting activity results and providing feedback on performance. The course explains techniques for scheduling and controlling production processes, the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans and the control and handling of inventories. Topics Include: Prioritizing and Sequencing Work Executing Plans and Implementing Controls Authorizing and Reporting Activities for Push and Pull Systems Evaluating Performance and Providing Feedback APICS North Shore P.O. Strategic Management of Resources (SMR) Recommended Prerequisite: BSCM, MPR, DSP, ECO Explore the relationship of existing and emerging processes and technologies to manufacturing strategy and supply chain-related functions. The course addresses three main topics: aligning resources with the strategic plan configuring and integrating operating processes to support the strategic plan and implementing change. Topics Include: Competitive Market Issues Choices Affecting Facilities, Supply Chain, Information Technology, and Organizational Design Configuring and Integrating Internal Processes Evaluating and Managing Projects We Need You! 7 Location Directions Doe & Ingalls Danvers Warehouse, 125 Waters Street. Danvers, MA From Boston Route 93 North to 95/128 North approx. 12 miles. Merge 128 North (at the 95/128 split) towards Peabody for approx. 5 miles Take Endicott Street exit (#24) Turn left at light on Endicott Street (go about ½ mile). Turn right at Waters street (you can only turn right or left) and go about ¼ mile Turn right into a driveway between Eastern Propane building (looks like the front of a store) and a bridge/storage area for the actual propane tanks. The front of the building you should see Harvey Industries. Doe & Ingalls is located in the middle of the building and the driveway on the left side of the building will take you to the loading docks and Doe & Ingalls entrance. From New Hampshire: Route 95 to Route 125 Route 125 east to Endicott Street (turn left) Go to end Water street (turn right) 125 Water St, Danvers, MA US (one ¼ mile) Turn right into a driveway between Eastern Propane building (looks like the front of a store) and a bridge/storage area for the actual propane tanks. Take a left into Lawrence Riverfront Industrial Park and take your first left. The GEM building is on your left. Go to the second parking lot entrance and follow the signs to the guest parking that is in the front of the building. From Rte 93S: Take the River Rd Exit and take a right off the ramp, then go through 4 sets of lights. Take a left into Lawrence Riverfront Industrial Park and take your first left. The GEM building is on your left. Go to the second parking lot entrance and follow the signs to the guest parking which is in the front of the building. The entrance is in the front of the building. If you arrive prior to 6PM the receptionist will let you in. After 6PM ring the bell and you will be let in. Please take a seat in the lobby and one of the attendees for this session from the GEM Group will come out and get you into the classroom area. Smith & Nephew, 150 Minute Man Road Andover, MA Going North on Rte 93 take the Dascomb Road exit. Left at end of ramp; go through traffic lights and stay on the left side of lane. Proceed approximately 200 yards and on the left you will see a street and the sign Smith & Nephew. Take the left. Proceed down the street and take a right at the end of the chain link fence that is along the back parking lot. Take a right into the back parking lot and there is a set of stairs. Ring the bell someone will let you in. Going South on Rte 93 take the Dascomb Road exit. Left at end of ramp and right at lights. Get over to the left side of the lane and take the left at the Smith & Nephew sign. See above for balance of directions. The manual provides valuable information to help prepare for each exam.
