6 Partnership vs Contracting Control: In a partnership there is the power to decide on investments and fire the boss; in case of contracting, the contract itself defines the limits: cost, capacity, evolution SLAs: highly redundancy of the network brings natural reliability ( over fiber cloud); then carrot/stick (above) applies; in case of a contract monetary penalties applies; [Q] what is more important? That your data flows or that you have sticks in case of failure? Scalability: deciding on the roadmap of services; new services = new contract Governance: services using the network will be the one governing its evolution; regular calls Closed user group: the logic is a limited number of participant jointly agreed to aggregate their demand; there will be no reselling. Same logic applies at MS level. Security: end-to-end; lambda offer the first level of protection (physical isolation), then layer 2/3 is protected through diversity of routes; the system is protected by CERTs Price of Partnership: lower lines costs (*); dilution of power; Price of Contracting: higher costs; discharge of responsability (finger pointing); cost of switching (*) Price of lines: Latest international connections survey made by DANTE (as of April 2012) show a cost per Mbits/s per month of 0,75 for dark fibber vs average 1,51 in western Europe and 2,07 in eastern Europe for rented lines. Hence the cost saving is from 50% to 63% thanks to the aggregation of demand at European level. Overall less expansive, more control, more responsability, more scalable.
