3 Purpose and Main Operation Principle The controller is intended for conversion interface Wiegand (-4, -8, -26, -34) into 1-Wire (Dallas) and vice versa interface 1-Wire (Dallas) into Wiegand-26. 4 Description and Placement of Converter Ports Fig. 1. Ports placement on board P1 Port 1-Wire. The port is intended for connection of devices (reader, keyboard and controller) with the interface 1-Wire. It contains two terminal block outputs. Port placement is illustrated on the fig. 1, where: DS 1-Wire information output; GND 1-Wire return ground. P2 Port RS-232. The port is intended for connection of communication interface RS-232. It is used to transmit data in ASCII format from converter to computer. The port contains three terminal block outputs. Port placement is illustrated on the fig. 1, where: RX data reception; TX data transmission; GND RS-232 ground. 4

5 P3 Port Wiegand. The port is intended for connection of devices (reader, keyboard, controller) with the interface Wiegand. It contains three terminal block outputs. Port placement is illustrated on the fig. 1, where: D0 Wiegand information input; D1 Wiegand information input; GND Wiegand return ground. P4 Port for supply voltage (+12V) input. It is used to connect power source of 12V. The port contains two terminal block outputs. Port placement is illustrated on the fig. 1, where: GND power source ground. J Set of jumpers, which determine converter operation mode: 1. 1-Wire > Wiegand (position 1-2). 2. Wiegand > 1Wire (position 2-3). Converter Operation Modes The converter may operate in one of the following modes: 1. Conversion of the 1-Wire (Dallas) interface into Wiegand Conversion of the Wiegand (-4, -8, -26, -34) interface into 1-Wire (Dallas). Converter operation mode is determined by the position of jumpers J as figure 2 shows. Attention! Before changing jumpers position de-energize the converter! 6 When operating in mode Wiegand->1-Wire the following points should be taken into consideration to enter a code via keyboard: The converter is able to receive only digits from 0 to 9. The maximal admissible length of a code is 10 digits. When entering a code of less than 10 digits, code combination should be completed by pressing the Enter(#) button. Entered combination may be canceled by pressing Esc(*) button. Time interval between digits serial entering should be not more, than 5 seconds. If specified interval is exceeded, entered combination is reset. Attention! The converter was tested using controller Z5R. When connecting a reader with interface Wiegand or any analogous interface (operating with interface 1-Wire) to a Z5R controller through converter Z-26, the following points should be taken into consideration: Reader transmits the read-in code just once and, thus, converter does not support such operations as programming of the Z5R controller using MASTER_KEY. User keys may only be entered using controller jumpers. To transmit data in the ASCII format from converter to the computer (COMport) through the RS-232 communication interface the following terminal parameters should be set: - baud rate 19200; - bit - 8; - parity - no; - stop bits 1. 7 Examples of Converter Usage The main purpose of the converter is to interconnect readers with Wiegand interface and controller with 1-Wire (Dallas) interface. Additional functionality of the converter is the possibility to connect it to the personal computer via RS-232 interface with the purpose to transmit data (code keys), handled by the converter, into the Terminal. 9 Delivery Set The delivery set includes: converter Z-26, technical description and package. Warranty Warranty life of the device is 18 months starting from the date of sale, but not less than 24 month from the date of manufacture. The warranty is considered void and claims are not accepted in the following cases: incorrect connection. nonobservance of specifications given in the present user manual. delayed servicing (once a year). presence of mechanical damage. natural calamity (thunderstorm, etc.). presence of exposure to deleterious substances or insects. marks of unwarranted interference. During the warranty period the Manufacturer will repair the device, if the malfunctions occur through the Manufacturer fault, or will replace malfunctioned nodes free of charge. The repair is performed on the Manufacturer s territory or in the authorized repair shops. The Manufacturer reserves the right to make changes and/or improvements not affecting device main technical parameters and product liability without Client notice. Should any questions regarding warranty repair arise address the Manufacturer or device Seller. 9
