2 Northern Dimension Business Council (NDBC) Facilitates networking & cooperation of the leading European and Russian corporates Facilitates high-level dialogue of the leading businesses and authorities NDBC is an independent body no funding from authorities. Companies can participate regardless of their ownership structures and country of origin interest, investment and commitment to ND area are criteria NDBC has co-operation with Northern Dimension partnerships, and other actors (such as Northern Dimension Institute) Main practical work carried out in working groups, which are co-chaired by Russian and other ND partner (EU, Norway, Iceland) country chairmen 2

3 History of NDBC and Aims In 2009 CEO of Fortum Tapio Kuula and CEO of Severstal Alexey Mordashov took the co-chairmanship of the Northern Dimension Business Council Initiated with efforts of the North-West Federal Administration to get attention to the Northern Dimension and get companies participate After that NDBC concept has been developing, and it has established nine sub-groups in different sectors which all have two co-chairmen NDBC co-chairmen: Fortum CEO Tapio Kuula and Severstal CEO Alexey Mordashov 3
