9 Adobe Portable Documet Format Adobe Portable Documet Format Pritig this book Cadle supplies documetatio i the Adobe Portable Documet Format (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Reader will prit PDF documets with the fots, formattig, ad graphics i the origial documet. To prit a Cadle documet, do the followig: 1. Specify the prit optios for your system. From the Acrobat Reader Meu bar, select File > Page Setup ad make your selectios. A settig of 300 dpi is highly recommeded as is duplex pritig if your priter supports this optio. 2. To start pritig, select File > Prit... o the Acrobat Reader Meu bar. 3. O the Prit pop-up, select oe of the Prit Rage optios for All Curret page Pages from: [ ] to: [ ] 4. (Optioal). Select the Shrik to Fit optio if you eed to fit oversize pages to the paper size curretly loaded o your priter. Pritig problems? The prit quality of your output is ultimately determied by your priter. Sometimes pritig problems ca occur. If you experiece pritig problems, potetial areas to check are: settigs for your priter ad priter driver. (The dpi settigs for both your driver ad priter should be the same. A settig of 300 dpi is recommeded.) the priter driver you are usig. (You may eed a differet priter driver or the Uiversal Priter driver from Adobe. As you select items, the workspace presets views pertiet to your selectio. Each workspace has at least oe view. Every workspace has a set of properties associated with it. You ca customize the workspace by workig i the Properties editor to chage the style ad cotet of each view. Be aware that the chages you make to the workspace are lost whe you switch to aother workspace uless you save them first. Aother way to customize the workspace is to chage the type of view or to add views to the workspace. 29 Workig with Workspaces Opeig a workspace Opeig the default workspace Most items i the Navigator have a default workspace associated with them. Some items have multiple workspaces you ca ope, although oly oe workspace ca be ope i the applicatio widow at oe time. To ope the default workspace, i the Navigator, click the item ame or its ico. Opeig multiple workspaces Each Navigator item ca be associated with multiple workspaces. If the Navigator item has more tha oe workspace associated with it, use View > Workspace to see ad select from a list of alterate workspaces. Refreshig or reloadig a workspace Oce a workspace is ope, it is ot refreshed automatically. Rather, CadleNet Portal refreshes the table ad chart views i the workspace oly whe you maually request they be refreshed or whe the workspace is reloaded. You ca, however, choose to automate the refresh at specified itervals. Whe choosig automatic refresh for a workspace, you should cosider the impact of the refresh o system resources. To defie automatic refresh for a workspace: 1. Ope the View meu, the poit to Refresh Every. 2. Click 5, 15, or 60 miutes; 30 or 60 secods; or O Demad. To refresh a workspace maually with the latest iformatio, click Refresh. To maually reload the saved workspace ad refresh the moitorig data, click Reload. Note that, if you made ay chages to the workspace properties without savig them, the chages will be lost whe a reload occurs. Suspedig or stoppig a workspace CadleNet Portal iterface receives moitorig data from the agets at timed itervals ad, if you have defied automatic refresh for the workspace, refreshes the table ad chart views i the workspace. The refresh process uses system resources. You ca cotrol whe the views are refreshed by Usig Attributes, Workspaces, ad Predefied Situatios 29

30 Workig with Workspaces suspedig the refresh. You ca also stop loadig the workspace if it is ot what you wat or you pla to chage it. To stop refreshig, click Susped. You ca the maually refresh the workspace, or you ca click Resume to resume automatic refresh. To stop loadig a workspace, click the CadleNet Portal Stop ico. Note that clickig your browser s Stop ico will ot stop the loadig of a OMEGAMON XE workspace. Editig a workspace OMEGAMON XE for Oracle comes with a set of predefied workspaces for every item i the Navigator's physical map. You ca edit ay of these workspaces to suit your eviromet. The chages you ca make to a workspace iclude the followig: Split a view horizotally or vertically ito two separate views. Chage the dimesios of the views by draggig the borders betwee them. Chage a view to a differet type, such as from a pie chart to a thermometer gauge. Edit the properties of ay view to chage the data displayed ad how the view is styled. Build a lik to aother workspace so that you ca lik to the other workspace from this oe at ay time. Remove a view from the workspace. The adjacet view elarges to fill the gap. Whe you are fiished editig a workspace you must save your chages either as the curret workspace or as a ew workspace. If you do ot save your chages, they will be lost whe you ope aother workspace or ed your work sessio. 31 Workig with Workspaces Savig the workspace Whatever chages you make to the workspace properties, such as addig or editig a view, are oly temporary. They will be lost whe you ope aother workspace or exit CadleNet Portal, uless you save the workspace. You ca also save multiple workspaces for the same Navigator item. Click Save to replace the origial workspace with the curret workspace. If you do ot wat to replace the origial workspace, save the curret workspace uder a ew ame. If this is a ew workspace: 1. Ope the File meu ad select Save Workspace As. 2. Type a ame for the ew workspace i the text box ad click OK. Result: The workspace is saved with the ame you specify, ad is available to all of your maaged systems of the same maaged system type. Note: The saved workspace is associated with your user ID. Users with a differet ID will ot see your chages. If you have edited the workspace but do t wat to save your workspace, you ca reload the saved workspace as described o page 29. Likig workspaces Some of your product s predefied workspaces may be liked to other related workspaces. Likig workspaces is a quick method for goig from oe workspace to aother related workspace quickly. You ca lik from oe workspace to aother from the Navigator. Simply right-click o a workspace ad the select the workspace to lik to from the pop-up meu that is preseted. While usig a workspace s table view, you ca right-click withi a cell i the table to display existig liks to other related workspaces. You ca defie your ow liks usig the Lik Wizard by followig the directios i CadleNet Portal s olie help. Oce a lik is defied, you ca lik to the subject workspace from aother workspace, edit the lik, or remove a lik defiitio. Note that the lik will ot be saved util the subject workspace is saved. 33 Workig with Workspaces Filterig iformatio Pre-filterig Filterig of OMEGAMON XE for Oracle iformatio is accomplished by likig from cells withi the summary table view at the highest level of the workspace hierarchy to progressively lower-level workspaces. To lik from a specific cell, right-click withi the cell, the select Lik to from the pop-up meu that CadleNet Portal displays. Selectig Lik to causes a list of lower-level workspaces to be displayed. Select the oe you wat from the list. You kow you have reached the bottom of a hierarchical group if Lik to does ot appear i the pop-up meu whe you right-click i a table view s cell. Similarly, you will ot be give the opportuity to lik to a workspace that does ot cotai ay meaigful data. For example, Lik to will ot provide a lik to the Database Locks workspace if the curret row of the summary table has a lock cout of 0. Withi a give workspace, the filterig criteria used to limit the data that is displayed are show i the footer lie of the workspace s table view. As you avigate further dow the hierarchy, the amout of iformatio i the footer teds to icrease. Post-filterig Post-filterig permits you to further reduce the umber of rows beig displayed as well as the colums that are displayed. To set up post-filterig, place the cursor o the table view, press the right mouse butto, ad select Properties. From the displayed dialog, select the Filters tab. Here you ca select the colums to display as well as set up the criteria for which rows to display. To save your filterig specificatios, you must save the workspace before exitig. Sortig Iformatio Sortig is hadled by simply clickig o a colum headig. Click oce ad the report will be sorted i ascedig order. Clickig a secod time will resort the report ito descedig order.
