2 WELCOME TO THE CITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON USING THESE GUIDELINES Wolverhampton is a place of positivity and progress. Like all cities, we have faced many challenges, but together we have made huge strides to bring about change. Our strength and our future lies in our biggest and smallest communities, our businesses, our corporations and our associations. There is great pride and potential in our people. The City of Wolverhampton brand guidelines will be managed by the City Council s design team. 10 SECTION 01 THE LOGO THE LOGO From industry to technology, The City of Wolverhampton has a strong heritage of inventing, making and doing. We have tapped into this idea of innovation and engineering with the construction of our marque. Primary versions to be used on brand lead applications and hero associations. Secondary logo to be used on collaborations and partner creative when primary logo is not suitable. Mark only can be used separately to type, as a graphic or stamp of approval. 11 SECTION 01 THE LOGO LOGO CLEAR SPACE The City of Wolverhampton logo should always be surrounded by a minimum area of blank space. This area of isolation ensures that headlines, text or other visual elements do not encroach on the logo. The area is defined by using the height of the marque to create the invisible boundary of isolation. 11

12 SECTION 01 THE LOGO LOGO SIZE The logo has been designed to be reproduced at a minimum width of 40mm / 150 pixels. There is no maximum reproduction size of the logo. 40mm / 150px 12

13 SECTION 01 THE LOGO LOGO COLOUR There are two colour options for the logo; violet and orange. On dark backgrounds the white or orange versions should be used and on light background the violet version should be used. For mid range colours either can be used. A monochrome version has also been supplied for use in non-colour printing. 13

14 SECTION 01 THE LOGO LOGO POSITION Where possible the logo should be placed in the bottom centre, or top centre of the page. It may also be placed top or bottom right and top or bottom left if this works better with the layout. 14

15 SECTION 01 THE LOGO LOGO FOLDERS Here is an outline of all the logo folders, and a guide for which file type to use for different applications. SCREEN PNG These are the preferred onscreen file type as they have a transparent background. PRINT EPS These are vector files that can be reproduced at any size. JPG These have been added for instances where it isn t possible to use a PNG. PDF These files have the been added as they are easier to preview on most screens than EPS files and can also be used in print. EPS/PDF These files have been added for use within design programmes where a vector file is preferred. 15

SCREEN RGB This version can be used for any on-screen use. BLACK This version can be used for any on-screen use. PRINT PANTONE U Pantone is the preferred professional method of printing the logo. This version will give best results on uncoated paper. PANTONE C This Pantone version is for use on coated paper. WHITE This version can be used for any on-screen use. CMYK For all in-house printing use or external 4 colour printing. BLACK For use when colour printing is not possible. WHITE For use in any colour mode. 16

It should be used as the primary typeface for online and print use. 26 SECTION 04 DEVICES PATTERNS The City of Wolverhampton is a melting pot that brings people together, whether through socialising, culture or sport. We have represented these interactions as a series of pathways that when woven together create dynamic and energetic patterns. The pattern is a good alternative to flat colour or photography, adding an extra level of interest. Provided artworks can be used. Potential to also develop additional orientation of patterns by using provided artworks, as a guide of style, line width and colourways. Please use provided.eps artwork assets. 26
