Example: Home network. b) LAN: When the computers are interconnected in the same office building, school or home for sharing information, then it forms Local Area Network (LAN). Example: Offices and schools. c) WAN: Computers interconnected over a large geographical area that may include a country, a continent or even the whole world is called Wide Area Network (WAN). Example: Internet. d) MAN: When computers are interconnected to extend over an entire city, then it forms Metropolitan Area Network or MAN. Example: Cable TV, Banks and Ambulances. ii. The need of Networking arises due to the following reasons. Explain. ] a) Limited Resources: All computers can easily use just one printer on a network. b) Desire to share information: All computers can share information because of networking. c) Cost reduction: It reduces cost as scanner, printer, modem and internet connection can easily be shared.
