1 Consolidation Exercise 1 Task A Creating a letter 1. In your user area or your memory stick create a new folder called Australia. 2. Open a word processing application with a new blank document. Ensure that the paper size is set to A4 and change the top, bottom, left and right margins to 2.5 cm. 3. Insert the graphic Travel Oz which has been provided. Position the graphic at the top left of the page and resizes it to 2 cm in height maintaining the aspect ratio. 4. Insert the company address aligned right at the top of the page exactly as shown: Travel Oz 25 Oxford Street LONDON W14 6YA Format the text using a 14 point sans serif font. 5. Set a left tab at 3 cm 6. Insert the text below as required with one clear line space below the company address you have just created using bold as shown. 4 Consolidation Exercise 2 Task A Create and edit a poster 1. Create a folder called dinosaurs in your home drive or memory stick. 2. Open the document hatching the past provided and make sure the paper is set to A4 portrait. 3. Set the top, bottom, left and right margins to 2 cm. 4. Using graphic text (word art) add a title of Hatching the Past click the Insert tab then choose WordArt and pick a style. 5. Format the WordArt to be 12 cm wide maintaining the aspect ratio. Centre the title at the top of the page. 6. Save the document as YourName_poster to the dinosaurs folder. 7. Format all text to size 14 point sans serif font. 8. Beneath the final paragraph insert one blank line. 9. Set left aligned tabs at 1 cm and 5 cm. 10. Using the tabs you have just set, input the following information. Use bold where shown. Dates: 04 Sep Feb 2011 Location: Hamilton Venue: Waikato Museum Category: Entertainment Cost: Adults - $12, Children - $6. 5 13. Resize the image to 5 cm high maintaining the aspect ratio. Make sure that everything fits on one page. 14. Add a footer which includes your name, today s date and dinosaur. 15. Save the file as YourName_Poster 3 in the dinosaurs folder. Task B Amending a newsletter 1. Open the file quake provided. 2. Set the page to A4 landscape and set the top margin as 1 cm and the rest of the margins at 1.5 cm. 3. Change the text to a sans serif font size Format the title to 1.5 cm high and 21 cm wide and centre it at the top of the page. 5. Format the text into 2 equal columns with a space between them of 1 cm and make the text fully justified. 6. Insert the image nzfaults below the paragraph ending forces are accommodated in different ways. 7. Resize the image to 3 cm high, maintaining the aspect ratio. Set the text wrapping to square and position at the right-hand side of the column alongside the paragraph Most earthquakes in New Zealand 8. Insert the image Christchurch in the second column below the paragraph ending street after street of buildings had collapsed. 9. Resize the image to 4.5 cm high maintaining the aspect ratio, centre the image in the column. Page 5

Below the paragraph ending forces are accommodated in different ways insert a table 4 column 8 row table and key in the following data: Date Location Magnitude Fatalities 6 February 1995 East Cape May 1990 Weber August 2003 Fiordland November 2004 Puysegur Trench December 2007 Gisborne July 2009 Fiordland September 2010 Christchurch Make sure the table headings are in bold and that the columns Magnitude and Fatalities are right aligned. 12. Make sure that the paragraph starting Phillip Duncan, a journalist starts at the top of the second column you may need to use delete to move it up. 13. Add your name, the date and Earthquake to the footer of the document and format the text to a 9 point sans serif font. 14. Save the file as YourName_Earthquake to the dinosaurs folder and print a copy. Page 6
7 Consolidation Exercise 3 1. Open a new document and set the page size as A5 Landscape with margins all round of 2 cm. 2. Insert a drawing canvas Click the Insert tab Click on Shapes New Drawing Canvas 3. Insert the images greentopslogo, tree1 and tree2 files. Click Insert Picture and look in your home drive or memory stick for the 4. Resize the logo to 2 cm high maintaining the aspect ratio. Right-click on the logo Select Format Picture Make sure the Lock aspect ratio is checked Set the height to 2 cm Click OK 5. Position the images tree1 and tree2 either side of the logo with the logo position between the tree trunks let the letters G and Y overlap the tree trunks slightly. 6. Group the images so that they become one object. Hold down the Shift key Click on the three images Let go of the shift key Right click over one of the images Select Grouping Group Page 7
8 7. Drag the logo out of the drawing canvas. 8. Click in the area of the drawing canvas so that it becomes visible, then press the Delete key to remove it. 9. Apply a top and bottom text wrapping style to the logo and position at the top of the page in the centre. 10. Key in the following: For all0020your gardening needs Monday Friday 8 am to 6 pm Saturday 8 am to 6 pm Sunday 9 am to 5 pm Langley Road, Bixford 11. Centre the text and format to a font of your choice, bold and a suitable size. 12. Copy the logo and reduce it to 50% of its size, keeping the aspect ratio. 13. Apply text wrap in the Behind Text style and move the copied logo to the bottom right hand corner. 14. Insert a clip art image searching on the word flower. Apply Behind Text style text wrapping and move it to the bottom left corner. Adjust the size to suit. 15. Check your layout still fits onto one page and use the spellcheck adding Bixford to the dictionary (right click over the word and choose Add to Dictionary) 16. Save as YourName_Greentops Flyer. 9 Consolidation Exercise 4 1. Open a new document. 2. Insert a drawing canvas on your page. 3. Inside the drawing canvas insert the boxford logo and the conservatory images. 4. Double- click on the conservatory image and then select Send to Back then Send Backward. 5. Move the conservatory image behind the centre of the boxford logo. 6. Group the logo objects together and drag out of the drawing canvas. Delete the drawing canvas click in the drawing canvas area then press delete on the keyboard. 7. Position the logo in the top right hand corner, apply the Top and Bottom text wrapping style. 8.
