4 Ways To Volunteer Mow the lawn, pull weeds, rake grass, landscaping, etc. Clean gutters Paint shutters, fencing, etc. Build a ramp for wheelchair assistance Take a pet for a walk House chores (ie, washing laundry or dishes, cooking a meal/snack) Reading a book or doing crossword puzzles Picking up prescriptions/deliver groceries Visiting and talking with a veteran Play and/or teach music to a veteran Teach a veteran how to use the computer Relieve a caregiver 4

6 HOMEPAGE - REGISTER From the homepage, you will register for an account. There are four categories in which a person can register. 1. VETERAN : If you are a Veteran and would like to volunteer your services to another Veteran, you would register under this category. 2. CAREGIVER : If you take care of a veteran, and need someone to come in and take care of that veteran for a period of time so that you can relieve yourself of that care, please register under this category. 3. VOLUNTEER : This category is for individuals who would like to volunteer, but are not a Veteran. 4. ON BEHALF OF : If you are an individual who knows a veteran who could use help (IE, you are a neighbor, a friend, church member, etc.), and would like to get some assistance for this veteran, please register here. You will be the person/representative of that Veteran. 6

7 On-Line Registration If you try to click on Login from either location on the homepage, you will be directed to the screen below. It is mandatory to have an account before proceeding to the website. From the screen below, you will have the availability to Click here to register your account. 7

10 On-Line Registration Once you have filled out the on-line registration, click submit. You will receive this message stating your account has been successfully registered. 10

11 Registration Confirmation After successfully registering your account, you will receive an from Volunteer for Veterans. Once you open this e- mail, you will receive a link and message to get you started with the website. Please note, that your user name will be the to which you registered your account. Once you click on the link it will redirect you to a page to create your password. 11

16 Parental Consent Form If the person wishing to volunteer is under the age of eighteen (18), a parent or legal guardian execute a Parental Consent Form for the minor and return it to DAV HQ. 16

18 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES From this dropdown box you can: 1. Add a new request/opportunity on behalf of yourself or a veteran; 2. Search for available opportunities where you, or a group of people, can volunteer within your area, state or nationwide; and 3. View all available opportunities listed, which need volunteer(s) to complete the work. 18

19 MY REQUESTS/ADD NEW REQUEST Once you click on the My Requests/Add New Request it will direct you to this page. You will be able to login from this page and add your opportunity. 19

22 ALL OPPORTUNITIES BY STATE From the Volunteer Opportunities dropdown, if you select and click on View All Opportunities by State this screen will appear. On this screen you can view all available opportunities across all states. 22

26 REPORTING AN OPPORTUNITY Once you click on REPORT THIS POSTING, the screen below will popup showing that you have successfully reported the opportunity 26

28 SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING From the opportunities page, you can share any opportunity on Facebook, Twitter or even yourself or someone who may be interested by volunteering to assist a veteran in their area. 28

29 FACEBOOK SHARING HJ1 In just two simple clicks, this can be posted on your Facebook page. On the All Opportunities by State page, click the Facebook icon and from here click on Post on Facebook. We encourage you to post the volunteer opportunities on your social media page, as it will heighten the awareness of Veterans needs. 29

31 TWITTER SHARING Again in two clicks, this can be posted on your Twitter account. On the All Opportunities by State page, click the Twitter icon and from here click Tweet. 30

32 SHARING If you click the Icon, you can send an from your personal to yourself or others, which will include the link to the volunteer opportunity that you choose. 31
