5 The noise is observed in 20 to 30% open position, please see attached video clip. In full open position noise is less and full close no noise is noticed. As per customer same size & class of BDK Globe valve replaced are functioning well and no such noise observed. Line pressure is 25 kg. Suggest that while we attempt to stimulate the site conditions and test, we can send a replacement valve to install in same location and test if same noise is heard. Did R&D who is also marked did a study on this complaint? How do you say we have internal tested and no noise is heard? have you were able to simulate the flow conditions? This is where I was critical yesterday that QA team who are handling customer complaint need to develop the knowledge on Products & application. Unfortunately R&D who has knowledge shy away from problems or getting into any analysis From my experience and from the photograph I can come to a preliminary conclusion that valve is throttled at less than Threshold value for a standard Globe valve ( Refer API 615 for angle ) which will create a vibration in service. To me from the photo it appears that valve is throttled at near closer to or less than 10% opening and is the real cause. Please find out from sight conditions on what angle the valve is throttled? Attached video clip of the noise observed during site visit of our service engineer. The cause of the noise in my view could be due to excessive tolerance between stem and disc connection creating the noise with 25kg pressure of steam flowing in line. 5 valves were supplied through SO no , Invoice No / out of which 2 nos. installed in Dec 16 during shutdown and reported with the problem. BDK valve of same size and class replaced by customer, is working fine and no such noise is reported. Please investigate the problem on receipt of the 2 valves, which is being returned by SA Engrs and forward the root cause of the problem. Complaint No LT is assigned to Umesh N.
