1 Information Technology Services mydrive User Guide Using mydrive at RMIT August Launching mydrive 1. Open a Web browser and enter the following URL: RECOMMENDATION: SAVE THIS URL TO BROWSER FAVOURITES FOR FUTURE USE. mydrive Login Screen 2. Enter your NDS credentials then click Log On. 2 2. Using mydrive 1. mydrive Basics Double clicking on a folder will open the folder. Double clicking a file will download it to the browser s default download folder. The main menu bar as displayed below allows you to navigate, upload files and create new folders. You can also perform operations on files and folders by right clicking them. 2. 3 When mydrive is started, two paths displayed. My Home Folder (your home drive) rmit.internal (the top level of the shared folders path) Note: mydrive does not display drive mappings 3. 4 4. Accessing Shared Drive folders Clicking on rmit.internal will display the next path level, which is University. Clicking on University will display the next path level, which contains Colleges and Portfolios. Author: ITS Infrastructure ITS Infrastructure Page 4 of 7

5 Double clicking on the College or Portfolio will display the next path level, which contains its schools/departments and any other shared folders. The Address bar will display the full pathname. Clicking on Back, Forward or Up arrows in the toolbar can also be used to navigate the path. Additional shares may be available within each school/department folder. 5. Downloading files to the local machine from mydrive You can download a file by either double clicking it, or right clicking it then select Download. The file would then be downloaded to the your browser s default download location. 6. Uploading a file to mydrive from the local computer 1. From the desired destination folder on the mydrive page click Upload in the toolbar. Author: ITS Infrastructure ITS Infrastructure Page 5 of 7

6 2. The file selector window appears. Click Choose File, navigate to the desired file on your computer and select it. Click Upload Now to start the upload. If you would like to overwrite a file with the same name in mydrive tick the Overwrite if the file exists box before clicking Upload Now. Note: Attempting to drag and drop a file will only prompt the browser to attempt opening it. 7. Moving or copying files in mydrive 1. Moving and copying of folders are not possible in mydrive. You can reorganise your home drive s folder structure when it is mapped in Windows Explorer such as when you are logged in an RMIT computer on campus. 2. While the moving of files is also not possible, you can achieve the same effect by copying a file to the new location then deleting it from the old one. 3. To copy or delete files you can use the right click menu as shown in point 2.1. If you are copying, after right clicking the file and selecting Copy in the right click menu navigate to the desired location, right click the white space in the folder and select Paste.
