Signing in at Customer Office web portal To view HR and MR Image catalogues, for purchasing archive or new KazEOSat-1 and KazEOSat-2 images, the customer need to enter to the web site of the Internet. This will link to the Welcome page of Customer Office web portal (Figure.1). In the Welcome page you may choose the language (EN-English, KZ-Kazakh, RU- Russian). 4 You will see "Login" box on the Customer Office web portal. The customer who has already signed in can fill in the information in the "Username" and "Password" and then click" Login." If the customer is not signed in, it is necessary to click on "Register" on the web portal Customer Office (Figure 3). Complete the registration form provided and click the "Register" button (Figure 5). 4

5 Figure. 5 Registration form After sending the completed registration form to the address specified by the customer as his address, the Administrator will send an message that you have registered and within a week you will have to create an account. After receiving the message from cof@gharysh.kz can log in and view the catalog images and order images from the archive, or order for making new imagery. 5

6 2. Issuing a requisition for archive images To issue a requisition for archival satellite imagery KazEOSat-1 and KazEOSat- 2, a customer should make the following steps. The electronic message from cof@gharysh.kz will specify the name of the server to access the web portal, where the client is signed in (server No1 or No2). Customer has to select the server at the welcome page (Figure 6). Figure. 6 Selecting the server Enter the "Username" and "Password", received by and click on "Login" (Figure 7) at the next web page. Figure. 7 «Login»page After entering into the system a customer will see the main view of the Customer Office web portal (Figure.8), which has the following panels: 1. West panel located on the left side of the display; 2. East panel located on the right side of the display; 6

8 To make an application for the archival images please click on the western panel. In the window that appears, select the tab "Image catalogue" and the sub-tab "Request". Click on "New AOI", and select the area of interest (hereinafter - AOI), which need archival images. Then select the period of imaging interest (for the required image) and you can select other criteria and click on the "Search" button (Figure. 9). Note: In this example, "Astana" is the allocated area, the period of imaging is between and (Figure. 8). Clicking on the "Search" button the system will enable searching for matching images in the directory and displays the result on the screen (Figure 10). Figure. 10 «Number of results for catalogue» tab If the catalogue contains archive images, then it will show up the images found in the sub-tab Results of the Image catalogue tab, where you can see the name of Catalogue (DZZ), Footprint (border of the image), Product (name of the image) and Thumbnail (Quicklook), Acquisition date (date when the image was made), and also metadata. Example: see the lowest image in the list on Figure.11, which is bright. Figure. 11 Image catalogue tab To see footprint and thumbnail of an image on the map, click the targeted image. After that the thumbnail appears on the map (Figure.12) 8

9 Figure. 12 Image shown on the map If a customer considers, that this image meets his requirements, it is required to click on the "Metadata" (arrow Figure.12). In the appeared page, select the name of the image (Figure. 13) and copy it. Рис.13 «Metadata» tab 9

10 After copying the image title, need to close «Metadata» tab and go to «Product request» sub tab (Figure. 14), located in the west panel. There, it is required to indicate period of image (start day, when the client submitted the request and the due date the space image delivery), priority, image application field, type and processing level, criteria for cloud, snow and ice, fog and etc. Insert copied name of the image to the «Commentary» field after completion of the above steps,. (see Figure.14) Then, to submit the request for getting archive image, click on the «Submit» button. Figure 14. «Product request» tab A dialog box with the number of the request is appeared after confirmation (example: CO_ ). Then the client automatically goes to «Task» sub tab of «Product request» tab. The client can see the name of the submitted request, data of the request for quick look here. (Figure 15) 10

11 Figure.15 Sending request KGS personnel will review and process it in accordance with the client requirements once the client s request is received. When the work related to the request is finished the status of the request will be changed («In Process» or «Completed») and in the column «Quicklook» it will be possible to see the required picture. Then, the client can download the completed product via ftp channel. 11

12 1. New request submission. The message from will show the server for entering to the Web-portal, at which the Client is registered in (server No1 or No2). The Client must choose this sever on the welcome page (figure 16). Figure 16. Selecting a server. You need to enter «Username» and «Password», which have been received by click «Enter». (figure 17). Figure 17. «Enter» box. After entering the system the main view of Customer Office Web-portal will be opened. There will be the following panels: 1. West panel - left side of the screen. 2. East panel on the right; 3. North panel on the top; 4. Central panel is in the central area of the screen. 12

The main view of Customer Office web-portal The Customer needs to click on the West panel and select «Request» sub-tab of the «Product request» in the pop-up window for registering a request for a new survey. The Customer needs to select the targeted area, press «New AOI» button and mark the area or the object which is needed (for example, the territory of Astana is highlighted on figure 18 ). After selecting the territory it is required to show the survey period, priority, an application field, type and range of image processing after survey, cloudiness, comments and etc., then click «Submit». 14 It is required to provide information about required imaging mode in the comments. After sending the Customer's request there will appear «Product request» tab with the Identifier in «Tasks» sub-tab (example: CO_ ) (figure 20). Figure 20. Submitted requests' status The Customer can track the submitted requests by looking «Status». After completing capturing of the targeted are its thumbnail will appear in «QuickLook» column of «Tasks» sub-tab and «Status» will be changed to «Completed». The Customer can download the completed image via FTP channel. 14

15 3. Request's status review. For the status of the submitted by COF web-portal requests follow next steps: It is necessary to go to link and select the server, at which the Client is signed in. Then enter the system using «Username» and «Password». The main window of COF Web-portal will open. Click the Western panel on the left side (figure 21). Figure 21. 17 4. Downloading images via FTP channel In order to download the completed images via FTP channel it is necessary to follow next steps. Install FileZilla program (can be downloaded there: After installation you need to enter personal information and click «Fast connection» button (figure 24): Host: cof1.gharysh.kz or cof2.gharysh.kz (depending on server) Login: Your login Password: Your password Port: 21 (default) Figure 24. FileZilla box If the entered data is correct, the folder, where processed images are placed, appears on the right window (figure 25). 17

19 The completed image can be downloaded by dragging it from right to left (figure 26: drag «ORTHO_ » folder into «COF» folder). During downloading files, in the bottom of the screen, there will appear the process bar (figure 27). Figure 27. Download process After completion of downloading the images the Customer can open and see the requested images. 19

20 2. FACEO tools There are next tools on the top of the screen (figure 28): 1. Reset position: returns position to Kazakhstan (Astana) from any place on the map. 2. Places: search location by name (figure 29). 3. Print screen: save current position on the map. When you click Print screen tool, a dialog about the saved image appears (figures 30, 31). This will enable to save screenshot to your computer and print it if necessary. 4. Area of interest (AOI): call pop-up menu of AOI (figure 32). 5. 21 Figure 31. Saved map Figure 32. Area of interest. 1) New rectangle AOI: draw new rectangle AOI on the necessary territory. Then it will be possible to see the available archive images or request a new capture by highlighting the targeted area. 2) Show/Hide: clicking this menu, visible AOI (as yellow rectangle) gets hidden. If necessary it is possible to show AOI again pressing this menu one more time. 3) Move to active AOI center: let you approaching to the center of highlighted AOI (zoom the map to the center of yellow rectangle). Projection 1) Globe: show Earth projection as a globe. 2) Lat-lon: show Earth projection as longitudes and latitude. 3) Mercator: show Earth in Mercator projection. 4) Modified sinusoidal: show Earth in modified sinusoidal projection. 21

22 5) Sinusoidal: show Earth in sinusoidal projection. You can see a version of web browser, Java application and etc. using «Versions» button, which is on the top right of the window (figure 34). Figure 34 Versions You can hide the north panel of FACEO application using «Hide» button. If it is necessary you can show it again by clicking on the northern (top) part of FACEO window. There are next menus on the eastern (right) panel of FACEO application: - Layers (figure 35). - WMS (figure 36). - Measure panel (figure 37). You can activate and inactivate layers in «Layers» panel, also you can let layers up or down by the list of layers, which are performed on the map. Figure 35. Layers 22

23 Figure 36. WMS panel WMS panel (Web Map Service) is a protocol for sending georeferenced images by the Internet. This layer works only when the Internet connection is available. Nowadays 4 WMS layers are available: NOAA Obs, GEOSIGNAL, DEMIS, GEOLITTORAL In order to perform WMS layers on the map click on the list of WMS layers (figures 37, 38) and choose from the list. 24 Figure 38. WMS layers. Measure panel is designed to measure the distance. 4 measure tools are available: line, circle, rectangle and polygon (figure 39). Figure 39. Measure panel After selecting «Line» tool you need to draw a line on the map (figure 40) and the distance in kilometers appears in measure panel. Figure 40. «Line» measure tool. After selecting «Circle» tool you need to draw a circle on the map (figure 41) and information about area, perimeter and radius of the circle appears in measure panel. 25 After selecting «Rectangle» tool you need to draw a rectangle on the map (figure 42) and information about area, perimeter, width and height of the rectangle appears in measure panel. Figure 42. «Rectangle» measure tool After selecting «Polygon» tool you need to draw a polygon on the map (figure 43) and information about area and perimeter of the polygon appears in measure panel. Figure 42. «Polygon» measure tool After measuring necessary territory it will be possible to delete measurements by clicking Remove button, which is on the right of the measure tool (figure 44). 25
