3 Setting up & Shutting down Connect power source to laptop Connect monitor cable (VGA) (Fn+F8? Or windows+p) Connect USB & sound cable Check sound cable in correct hole (Headphone not mic) Press Power Button Check input source Check if SMART tools/system is running (blue target symbol) Under SMART Technologies (All programs) Shut down projector when not in use Press 2 times

4 Orient/Align the board Use Control Panel (blue target symbol) Also can hold down both buttons on pen tray Use pen (or finger to mark each cross) Will hear a ding Can fix if you goof Push a button on pen tray

5 Pens & Eraser 4 pens black, red, green, blue Can change colors, thickness of lines 1 eraser Can change width of eraser Circle, tap trick to erase large area Can change options in control panel SMART Hardware Settings Pen & Button Settings

6 Using Pens & Eraser Can only use 1 at time Must put back in tray Does not actually matter which pen It matters which tray slot is empty Make sure light is on for pen Smart Ink When outside of SMART Notebook Turn on in SMART Technologies

7 Keyboard & Right Click 2 buttons on tray Bring up on screen keyboard Move to where comfortable Options of layout for keyboard Right click (mouse) Push 1 st then touch item

8 Notebook Software 11 Under SMART technologies (All Programs) Can use SMART board without using Touch screen for Word, PowerPoint, internet, etc. Similar to PowerPoint Create lessons & save Interactive elements Get students up to board!

10 Gallery Easy place to find items to use Gallery Essentials Lesson Activity Search Add to My Content Link to SMART Exchange Must create a free account to download files

11 Object Any text, image, shape Select Item Arrow Down Options Rotate Green dot Resize White circle

12 Toolbar Can customize Right click on toolbar Or use settings wheel Can move to bottom of screen Explanation of each tool - Handout

13 Screen Capture Tool 1. Captures area inside box 2. Captures full page 3. Captures entire screen 4. Captures area inside freehand region Can capture anywhere on computer Close out (X) when done Check box for new page Hear a ding when complete

14 Menu - File Import from PowerPoint Export to PowerPoint to pdf (for teacher website?) Timed Saves Would suggest as you build a lesson but remember to deactivate when using lesson Print Similar to PowerPoint Recent documents

15 Menu - Edit Clone Very useful Copy & Paste in one click Text To add text to text box Can double click as well Clear Page/Ink/Restart Useful during lesson to restart for a new student

16 Menu - View First 5 Side bar Will explain more Screen Capture Toolbar On Handout Screen Shade Useful for showing part of screen Auto-Hide Side Bar Check Transparent Background Nice for working over another application

20 Interactive lessons, tips Can find in Gallery to build your own lessons Interactive activities Can find on Smart Exchange TONS of free lessons and can edit to make your own Start small get kids involved to keep interest Use other gallery items timers, dice, sounds, etc.
