ONE2 Advanced Features We are going to explore the advanced features of OneNote from inserting videos to using the Send to OneNote Tool. In-Lab Scenario: You will need to create a few notes for your ZOOL368 Ornithology classes along with drawings, videos and diagrams. In-Lab Materials 1. Microsoft OneNote 2. Access to the Internet 3. Microsoft Account to access your SkyDrive 4. Files.zip In-Lab Instructions Step 1: Setting your files Open OneNote and let s create a new Notebook called my Ecology Classes: Step 2: Let s work on your Ornithology Class Open your ZOOL368 section (Tab) And copy the text below and insert into your notes: Ornithology is a branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds. Etymologically, the word "ornithology" derives from the ancient Greek ὄρνις ornis ("bird") and λόγος logos ("rationale" or "explanation"). Several aspects of ornithology differ from related disciplines, due partly to the high visibility and the aesthetic appeal of birds. Most marked among these is the extent of studies undertaken by amateurs working within the parameters of strict scientific methodology. The science of ornithology has a long history and studies on birds have helped develop several key concepts in evolution, behavior and ecology such as the definition of species, the process of speciation, instinct, learning, ecological niches, guilds, island biogeography, phylogeography and conservation. While early ornithology was principally concerned with descriptions and distributions of species, ornithologists today seek answers to very specific questions, often using birds as models to test hypotheses or predictions based on theories. Most modern biological theories apply across taxonomic groups and the number of professional scientists who identify themselves as "ornithologists" has therefore declined. A wide range of tools and techniques are used in ornithology, both inside the laboratory and out in the field, and innovations are constantly made P a g e
Right-click and change the font size: Enter the page title Introduction Notes. Create a new page called Let s add a few notes on the Brown-billed Scythebill. Copy and paste the text below into your notes. This spectacular furnariid (woodcreepers joined this family as a result of a 2006 taxonomic decision by the A.O.U.) was unknown from central Panama (excepting Cerro Azul) at the writing of Ridgely's Birds of Panama. It has recently (since 2005) been found to be relatively common in the cloud forests of Altos del Maria. It is by no means an easy bird- it took me mulitple trips to the area to find one (three heard-only, two seen in September, 2006). Brown-billed Scythebill seems to respond to playback, so it is likely to be observed if present on most occasions. Change the font color UPDATE! Two Brown-billed Scythebills were heard but not seen at Altos on January 7th, 2007; mediocre audio was captured. It seems that this species is heard quite regularly, but only seen with some work. Change the font color by selecting the entire object: 3 P a g e
Highlight the word or just have your cursor in the word and rightclick And change to the correct word. Adding a word to the dictionary find furanriid, woodcreepers, and Scythebill and add them to the dictionary. Correct the spelling of multiple below: This will store these words and apply it to all of the Microsoft Office products Playing with images 4 P a g e
5 P a g e
Align to the left below the textbox Once inserted, the file will appear like the icon below. You may click on the playback option to start the movie. Inserting movie about the Brown-billed Sycthebill Now insert the AVI file as an Attachment: 6 P a g e
Using the Send to OneNote tool On your Windows Task bar you should see the Send to OneNote Tool. To start in your Files folder you should see a notesonvideo.docx file Click on the OneNote Icon with a pair of scissors: 7 P a g e
Open it in Word and using your Send to OneNote send it to your notebook: 8 P a g e
Now arrange your notes: Go to this website: e-gun-birds/?ar_a=1 9 P a g e
and using this tool do a screen clipping: 10 P a g e
Arrange the image to the lower left of the page Click on the diagonal arrow to expand it Now write a quick note 11 P a g e
And add a Movie to See tag: Now select the correct Notebook and section. It should take you to your Ecology notebook under the Ornithology section. Now click on the image 12 P a g e
Highlight this sentence below: Insert a question tag: Step 3: Save the entire section Save the section into a PDF document. Upload this PDF document to the class site. 13 P a g e
Out-Lab Scenario: You will need to create a new Notebook for INFS120. You will embed class notes, highlight and insert text and images. Out-Lab Materials 1. Microsoft OneNote 2. Access to the Internet 3. Microsoft Account to access your SkyDrive 4. Files.zip Out-Lab Instructions Step 1: Get your files ready Unzip Files.zip to your Desktop Follow the instructions in step 2: Step 2: Create a new tab on your INFS120 Notebook Create a new tab in your INFS120 notebook: Now insert the text below into your notes: ---- The first version of Microsoft Word was developed by Charles Simonyi and Richard Brodie, former Xerox programmers hired by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Both programmers worked on Xerox Bravo, the first WYSIWYG word processor. The first Word version, Word 1.0, was released in October 1983 for Xenix MS-DOS; it was followed by four very similar versions that were not very successful. The first Windows version was released in 1989, with a slightly improved interface. When Windows 3.0 was released in 1990, Word became a huge commercial success. Word for Windows 1.0 was followed by Word 2.0 in 1991 and Word 6.0 in Then it was renamed to Word 95 and Word 97, Word 2000 and Word for Office XP (to follow Windows commercial names). With the release of Word 2003, the numbering was again year-based. Since then, Word 2007, Word 2010, and most recently, Word 2013 have been released for Windows. In 1986, an agreement between Atari and Microsoft brought Word to the Atari ST.[1] The Atari ST version was a translation of Word 1.05 for the Apple Macintosh; however, it was released under the name Microsoft Write (the name of the word processor included with Windows during the 80s and early 90s).[2][3] Unlike other versions of Word, the Atari version was a one time release with no future updates or revisions. The release of Microsoft Write was one of two major PC applications that were released for the Atari ST (the other application being WordPerfect). Microsoft Write was released for the Atari ST in Now change the font size to 11 and color to black. Insert a title: 14 P a g e
Insert a Word Icon using the Insert Online Pictures through Bing and arrange it to the right of the document: 15 P a g e
