1 Your news update from... New Hydrant Management System Released! We are pleased to announce the release of an Advanced Hydrant Management System as part of the IamResponding system! This new feature is included within all existing IamResponding subscriptions, at no additional cost. Over the course of the next 24 hours, you will see this become available on both the Administrative Functions page of your IamResponding website, and in our ios and Android apps. Look for the updated apps, and update to them as they become available. Please be patient as they populate to the applicable app stores. Please note that this new update will not work properly in Internet Explorer 8.0 or older. IE 9, or newer is required. Chrome and the most current version of Firefox also work. There are 2 new permissions associated with this new feature, within your online member profile (permission to add/edit hydrants, and a separate permission to delete hydrants). The default permissions are "No." You (or your local system administrator) will need to go into your online profile (at the IamResponding.com website), to change those permissions in order for you to be able to access the hydrant management functions. These permissions can not be changed from within the apps. Once you have permission to do so, you can add, edit and delete hydrants from the Administrative Functions page of your department's IamResponding website. There, you can upload hydrant locations from spreadsheets, add them individually based on data that you may have, or enter them by clicking directly onto maps that we provide. You can enter and manage any type of water source, from hydrants, to dry hydrants, pools, ponds, etc. For hydrants with known flow rates, the hydrant icons will be color-coded by flow rate pursuant to NFPA guidelines. The Hydrant Management System is also fully integrated into our ios and Android apps, making it available to you on your smartphones and tablets. If you have permission to do so, you can also add, edit and delete hydrant information and locations right from maps within the IaR apps. Please note that water source icons will only be visible on the maps when you are zoomed in close enough for them to make sense as icons on your maps.
2 On the mapping page of the apps, there is a new, selectable option to view no hydrants, your department's hydrants, and all hydrants. Depending on which option you select, you will be able to view just the hydrants and water sources entered by your department, or you will be able to view all water sources entered in any other district by other IamResponding subscribers (very helpful for mutual aid calls). You can only edit water sources entered by your own department. The app updates also refresh the look and feel of the apps in compliance with the recommendations of Apple and Google, and add a few new features and enhancements. A fourth page has been added to the dashboard for you to be able to view and edit (if you have permission to do so) the upcoming events portion of your department's calendar. For when you are mapping the route to an incident location, in the settings page of the app, you can also now select whether you want to view the full route by default, or zoom right in to automatically see just the destination. If you select to zoom in automatically, please set the zoom level to at least 70%, or higher. Though our quality control team works tirelessly on new releases, we simply can't duplicate everything that our 200,000+ users will do. It is possible that you may find some bugs in the new updates. If you do find any issues, please simply send a detailed , with screen shots where applicable, to our support team at support@emergencysmc.com. The apps provide turn by turn directions, and voice navigation to your incident scene, as well as many other easy to use features. You can see who else is responding, see who is on duty, manage your duty and/or availability schedule, send out mass notifications, and much more, right through the apps, in a quick and easy-to-use format! 4 Set up dispatch notifications today, at NO EXTRA COST! Your dispatch information can be directly and automatically imported into your existing IamResponding system, at no additional cost. Your dispatch information will then automatically be: Displayed on your IamResponding screen(s) Sent by push notification to free ios and Android Apps Sent by text message and to any members' phones When dispatches are sent via push notification to our free ios and Android apps, the incident address is automatically imported into integrated Google Maps for turn by turn directions to the incident scene. There is no need for third-party applications offering similar dispatch-texting or mapping features, as this is already included within your IamResponding subscription! Members control which devices and addresses they want the dispatch information sent to, within their own member profiles, so no one else has to manage any distribution lists.
