1 Power School Walk-in Scheduling (Secondary) 1
2 Walk-In Scheduler Search for the student on the Start Page. Open the Quick Lookup Screen for the student. From Scheduling Functions, Choose Modify Schedule. There are two tabs on the Modify Schedule Screen. The Enrollments Tab displays the student s schedule (section enrollment) and current course requests. The Requests Tab allows entering and revising of student course requests for the scheduling year. 2
3 Use the Modify Schedule- Requests Tab to Add requests. Click to add requests. At the Create Course Requests screen, Click to Open the Courses to Request Screen. Courses can be entered one at a time by highlighting the course and clicking. To select multiple courses, hold the control key, highlight multiple selected courses, and click. Courses can be entered by typing the comma separated course numbers into the Course List box ,23600,3135H,44100,55300,76400,
4 Submit the Course Request Screen to save the course request. Click The completed Request are shown below. Return to this screen to modify requests. Use the delete to remove requests line by line. Use the to add requests. Click to Submit Changes 4
5 Click the Enrollments Tab to Schedule a Student or to Modify a Student Schedule. Attempt to schedule all courses at once by clicking. The Automated Scheduler resulted in all classes being scheduled. If the results are satisfactory, click. If the results are not satisfactory, click and retry. If a partial schedule is returned, click to save the partial schedule and complete the conflict resolution by manually scheduling the student. 5
6 Scheduling Results Click to Accept Click to Discard After the new courses are accepted, the Modify Schedule screen shows the new schedule. Note the courses are not listed in period order on the Modify Schedule Screen. To remove scheduled courses from the Modify Schedule Screen, click the appropriate box in the Drop column and click. To remove all scheduled courses from the Modify Schedule Screen, click click.. To lock all classes so they cannot be removed, 6
7 Manually Schedule a Student To manually schedule a student, click.the Manually Schedule Student Screen appears with all requests and sections. Sections in green are open while sections in red are full. Sections in grey are already scheduled. Choose sections by clicking in the period box until the student is scheduled. (Illustration below shortened because of space considerations.) Click to save choices and schedule student. Click to return to the Modify Schedule-Enrollments Tab without saving choices. Click to clear the sections choices and begin again. Choose Effective Date of Schedule Choose section Green Open Grey Scheduled Red Full Other Course Requests removed for space considerations. Choose to Submit changes. Choose to return to Modify Schedule Page. Choose to return the page to return to the last saved selections. 7
8 After the schedule modifications are submitted, the schedule is displayed on the Modify Schedule screen. Notice courses are still ordered by course number and not by period number. If this schedule is correct, move to the Bell Schedule View Page or the Quick Look-up screen to see the completed schedule. Individual courses can be scheduled by using the Search Available Courses Function. Click on to open the Available Courses Screen. Courses can be filtered by Period, Course #, Grade, or Teacher by using the dropdowns available. The Enroll date is usually the current date. Check? Yes or No 8
9 After the courses have been filtered, the available courses will appear. Click on the course name to add the course to the student schedule on the Modify Schedule page. Course # Name Period Teacher Enrollment Click to add Use the Schedule Matrix View for a quick view of a single student schedule to determine missing periods. Click on Matrix View under Scheduling Function. Make a selection such as a grade level or letter of the alphabet and move through the Matrix View one schedule at a time to see schedules with conflicts. The example below shows Periods 1, 2, and 3 as missing. 9
10 Search for Students with Less Than a Full Schedule. At the Start Page, cut and paste the following ( *number_of_classes < ) into the search line. (Remove the after the < and insert a number.) Click to search. Searches can be limited to grade level or other identifier by selecting a group of students before running the search. Cut and paste search Click Highlight a student from the Student Selection and open Modify Schedule to solve schedule conflicts. Highlight Student 10
11 Add a Section to a Course- At the Start Page, Click School under Setup. Find Scheduling on the School Setup Page. Click on the Sections Link. Click Click on the Number link to organize courses by number. Click on name to organize courses by name. Click on the name to open the sections page. 11
12 The English 9 Honors sections are displayed. To create a new section, click. Before creating a section, decide on the period offered and the teacher of record. Choose the period of the day and check all days the course/section will be offered. Use the dropdown to select the lead teacher. Check the period and days the course will be offered. (Usually M-F). Use the dropdown to select the teacher. Enter the room number, term, and section number. The section number should be unique among the section numbers for a course during a given year. Use the default for all other questions. Click submit to save the section. 12
