2 OVERVIEW This assignment is carried out to apply all knowledge learnt by the student in Skill Area 213. Assignment consists of THREE (3) tasks and must be completed in a group of THREE (3). In the first task, the students are to create a business card based from the given scenario. The second task will be to create an invitation card. The final task is to create a newsletter to which the contents must be related to the given scenario. All tasks will be created based on the following features and contents given. The common skill that will be implemented in this assignment is: Working with others In a group, it is always helpful to have good and healthy working ethics this can lead to better decisions, trust and a satisfactory output in end results. Communicating Communicating is a life skill that is as important as working with others. Being in a group means being able to communicate to one another efficiently in order to relay intended message/information. Students are to use Microsoft Publisher ONLY when creating the tasks but will use Microsoft Word for documenting. Students can use Microsoft Publisher from version but make sure to save the publisher projects to the minimum standard of 2007 version (.pub). SCENARIO Cacao beans are the all-natural raw material for the chocolate we love. Its scientific name: theobroma cacao. In Greek it is called "Food of the Gods". Other names are cocoa, chocolate, kakaw. Cocoa is a product that can come in forms of powder, roasted, husked, and ground seeds of the cacao. It is a beverage made by mixing cocoa powder with hot milk or water. For the assignment you are required to create: Business Card, Invitation Card and Newsletter. These tasks are related to market your potential product. Product can be in raw cocoa form or any chocolate product. Software Applications (SWA) Page 2 of 9 Micronet International College
3 TASK 1- Business Card [15 marks] Create a business card related with the main theme scenario with the following features with a minimum of: 2 Images 3 Text (refer to Contents) 1 Word Art 1 Bulleted List Contents must be filled-in both FRONT and BACK of the business card. The following contents must include: Full name Job position Company address Contact details (office number, mobile number, company , fax, etc) Company logo Optional details can include: A list of services o Example: Salon: hair perming, straightening, cut/wash, coloring, highlighting, bridal make-up, etc Restaurant: catering for wedding events, birthday parties, formal dinner, hi-tea, etc Technology: OS installation, OS reformatting, computer repairs, upgrading computer parts, etc Map location [note: DO NOT use a Brunei map! 4 TASK 2 Invitation Card [15 marks] Create an invitation card for an upcoming event or a café opening to promote your product. The following features should contain a minimum of: 3 images 1 word art 1 table 1 bulleted list 3 shapes The contents for the invitation card should be brief, concise and will contain the necessary information such as: Event name (birthday party, BBQ party, café soft opening, road show, expo, etc) Location of event Date/ day of event Time of the event Company motto Software Applications (SWA) Page 4 of 9 Micronet International College
5 TASK 3 Newsletter [35 marks] Create a newsletter covering a variety of information about your cocoa product or other cocoa related information for the content. The following features for the newsletter should have a minimum of: 8 paragraphs 10 images 2 bulleted texts 1 numbered text 2 tables 2 word art 5 to 7 pages Newsletter contents must be related to theme topic (cocoa). Contents for the newsletter may contain: What is cocoa? Origins of cocoa Cocoa recipes Tips on how to brew a cup of cocoa Benefits of cocoa Upcoming company events (promotion campaign, road show, expo, consumer fair, etc) How cocoa is processed Coupon, lucky draw Any other related information Content DOES NOT have to contain all the topics mentioned above. All suggested topics are optional. Other information related to themed topic is also accepted as long as the contents are relevant.
