2 Adviser Self Service module in MyRED is designed to provide academic advisers with point and click access to relevant information about students. When first logging on to MyRED you will see a navigation menu on the left hand side of the web page that will look something like this: Click on Self Service Using the main menu on the left, select Self Service. Note the menu options across the top. As you click on the menu links across the top, the available options for each folder will open up in a smaller box. You may click on any of the menu links to navigate to other screens. Clicking on the yellow folder icon will load all page options for the selected folder. 5/16/2013 Page 2

3 The initial screen you will see within Adviser Self Service looks like this: 5/16/2013 Page 3

4 My Advisees Navigation: Main Menu > Self Service > Advisor Center > My Advisees The names of the students who are attached to you as an adviser are listed on this initial page. You can easily navigate to the Student Center tab that contains basic information on any of the students listed, by simply clicking on the View Student Details link next to the student. Click here to search for another student. If you already know the student s NUID number, enter the ID number in the Empl ID: search field and click Search. If the NU ID number is unknown, you may search by First and Last Name or the student s Social Security Number (National ID). 5/16/2013 Page 4

5 Advisee Student Center This page is designed to give a quick snapshot of the student s current schedule as well as general contact information such as student addresses, phone numbers and address. In addition, you have links to student schedules, their shopping cart, and their planner. Through the dropdown box you have links to Course History, Grades, Transcripts and Transfer Credit Report. Across the top of the page you also have access to several direct access navigation tabs General Info, Transfer Credit, and Academics. 5/16/2013 Page 5

6 General Info This tab displays such things as Service Indicators (holds), Student Groups (e.g. pre-health field), addresses, names, phone numbers and addresses associated with the student. You probably will not use this tab very often, but it is available to you. 5/16/2013 Page 6

7 Transfer Credit: This screen gives summary information on transfer credit, test credit, and other credit associated with the student. For the most part you are going to want to refer to the transfer credit report available through the drop-down selection box ( this tab. ) rather than Academics: This tab lists academic information associated with the student. It is divided into two main areas: Institution/Career/Program and Term Summary. The institution/career/program area presents information on the student s academic program(s) both current and previous: 5/16/2013 Page 7

8 Term Summary presents information specific to the term and program selected on the left side of this page. By clicking on a term this information changes to reflect data associated with that term including the student s program during that term, courses and grades received, and summary academic statistics for the term. 5/16/2013 Page 8

9 In the body of the Advisee Student Center screen you will notice several direct links on the page. In addition to these direct links, there is a drop-down selection box that allows you to access even more student level information. 5/16/2013 Page 9

16 Class Search Tab Functions The final tab at the top of the Advisor Self Service page is Class Search. This tab lets you search for class schedule information and course curriculum records within the system. You can specify search criteria when looking at the class schedule. 17 Class Search Results Notice that when a class is presented, only three sections will initially display. To access all of the class sections you can click the View All Sections in the bar at the top of the course listing to show additional sections. 5/16/2013 Page 17

18 Browse Course Catalog When browsing the course catalog you will initially be presented with the following menu: To select the subject area you are interested in first click on the initial letter of the subject. Then you can scroll down to a subject area and click on it to bring up a list of classes. Click on the link to see the entire list of courses. See example below.
