2 Adviser Self Service Guide The Adviser Self Service module in MyRED is designed to provide academic advisers with point and click access to relevant information about students. When first logging on to MyRED you will see a navigation menu on the left hand side of the web page that will look something like this: Within MyRED you can navigate to the major data panels either by clicking on the left hand menu or by clicking on a link within the body of the panel you currently have displayed. Some panels are only available through links or drop down lists within the body of the panel you have displayed. This document will try to guide you regarding the most efficient way to navigate, but how you get from place to place is a personal preference. April 26, 2010 Page 2
3 The initial panel you will see within Adviser Self Service looks like this: The names of the students who are attached to you as an adviser are listed on this initial panel. You can easily navigate to the Student Center panel that contains basic information on any of the students listed by simply clicking on the View Student Details link next to the student. You can also access other students by clicking on the link on this page called View Data for Other Students. Clicking on this link will bring you to a search panel where you can search by a number of criteria. If you already know the student s NUID, that is all that you have to put into this panel to find a specific student. April 26, 2010 Page 3
4 The Student Center page within Adviser Self Service looks like this: This panel is designed to give a quick snapshot of the student s current schedule as well as general contact information such as student addresses, phone numbers and e mail address. In addition, you have links to student schedules, their shopping cart, and their planner. Through the dropdown box you have links to Course History, Grades, Transcripts and Transfer Credit Report. Across the top of the page you also have access to several direct access navigation tabs General Info, Transfer and Academics. April 26, 2010 Page 4
5 The General Info panel displays such things as Service Indicators (holds), Student Groups (e.g. pre health field), addresses, names, phone numbers and e mail addresses associated with the student. You probably will not use this panel very often, but it is available to you. April 26, 2010 Page 5
6 The Transfer panel gives summary information on transfer credit, test credit and other credit associated with the student. For the most part you are going to want to refer to the transfer credit report available through the drop down selection box rather than this panel. The Academics panel lists academic information associated with the student. It is divided into two main areas. The institution/career/program area presents information on the student s academic program(s) both current and previous. April 26, 2010 Page 6
7 The Term Area presents information specific to the term and program selected on the left side of this panel. By clicking on a term this information changes to reflect data associated with that term including the student s program during that term, courses and grades received and summary academic statistics for the term. 15 Search Tab Functions The final tab at the top of the Advisor Self Service pages entitled Search lets you search for class schedule information and course curriculum records within the system.
