3 What is is a unique eportfolio available to all SXU members. Users can build up their me@sxu eportfolio by uploading work samples, projects, writing samples, and a resume. The platform includes several sections to showcase, including experience, skills, and interest sections. Your me@sxu eportfolio also protects users personal privacy by providing adjustable visibility settings. Best of all, your me@sxu eportfolio creates a unique URL per user, allowing one to continue using the tool through their professional development. 3
4 How to Access your eportfolio Follow the steps below to access your eportfolio. First log into Canvas. Click CN Portfolio tab on the left-menu, as seen in the image to the right. You are now viewing your eportfolio, as seen below: 4
5 Getting Started First Time User To set up your eportfolio, it is recommended to use the Image Guide. To open the Image Guide simply click on it, as seen on the righthand side of the page. Read the instructions provided in the Image Guide. Close the Image Guide and then proceed to follow along the blue arrows shown throughout your eportfolio. 5
6 Personalize your Profile With the help of the blue arrows, begin personalizing eportfolio. your Add a Cover Image To add a cover image, click Add Cover Image on the top right-hand side. Within the new window, click Upload, select a photo from your computer, and then click Save. 6
7 Edit your Name and Headline To modify your name or add a title, click on the Edit button next to your name. Make all the necessary changes and then click Save Changes. Add Institutions To add a showcase, click on the Add Institution icon above your name. You are required to complete all the starred sections. When finished click Add Institution. 7
8 Personalizing your About Section If you scroll down the page, you will find the About Section where you can add an introduction and basic information. To edit either section, click the grey Edit button. The Basic Information section allows you to personalize the audience that may view your information. Simply click the icon to the right of the information to change visibility settings. Audience Choices: Public Classmates Instructors Only Me When you have completed the Introduction and Basic Information sections, click the blue Save Changes button. 8
9 Navigation Features Universal Navigation Bar Search Bar Use the Search Bar to make specific searches within your eportfolio. View Notifications - Click this icon to view and clear all notifications. Read and Compose s - Click this icon to compose, show history, and view new s. View New Followers Click this icon to view new followers or clear all recent followers. View Missing Chat Requests Click on this icon to view and clear new chat requests. Help Click on Help for assistance contact information and links to quick tutorials and guides. User I.D. The 2 letter and 4 number combination is your personal user identification. Share this to allow other to view your me@sxu eportfolio. ( CN identification) Settings Click this icon to edit your profile, notification, password and other settings, and to logout. 9
10 Transcripts, Certificates, & Showcases Once you have personalized your eportfolio, the next step is to upload documents for viewing within the Transcripts, Certificates & Showcases Section. To upload a document, click + Add Document or Folder. Next, select the Document Type, Display Name, upload the document, and select the Visibility Setting. Public: All users may view the document Employers: Only employers may view the document. Password Protected: If you share your created password, those with it may view the document Only Me: Only you have access to the document. 10
11 Create a Folder You also have the option of organizing uploaded documents into folders. To create a folder, click + Add Document or Folder. Next, select the Create Folder tab, fill in the necessary information, personalize the folder color, upload documents, and then click Submit. You may adjust the Visibility Setting, as mentioned in the page above. 11
12 Build your eportfolio Another way to personalize your eportfolio is by adding Custom Sections. To begin, scroll down your page until you find the + ADD NEW SECTION box. A new window will open where you can begin building your section. Once you have created the Section title you may type directly into the box or utilize the other features. 12
13 Toolbar Features The Toolbar provides basic textbox functions as well as more advanced ones. Insert a Table Click this icon to insert a table into the textbox. Embed an Image Click this icon to embed an image into the textbox. Attach a File Click this icon to attach a file to your section. Embed a Video Click this icon to embed a video into your section. Note: You may also embed web links. 13
14 Organizing your Sections On the top left-hand side of the page is a Menu that allows you to arrange your me@sxu eportfolio. To open the menu, click on the Menu icon: Once it is open, you may choose to rearrange your me@sxu eportfolio sections by clicking the blue Sort Sections text on the bottom. Click the grid icon next to each section and drag it to the desired place. Once you are finished, click the blue Done Sorting text on the bottom of the page. Close the menu by clicking the arrow facing towards the left-hand side 14
15 Earning Badges & Anar Seeds Badges features badges that can be earned by instructors from your courses or through licensed institutions. Once you earn a badge, it is published in the Badge Section, viewable with lifelong access. Receiving Badges Me@SXU users cannot award badges, they can only receive badges. These are given through the discretion of the instructor or institution. EXAMPLES Instructors: Top 10%, Critical Thinker, Anar Badge. Licensed Institutions: Dean s list, graduating with honors, distinguished awards. (Note: instructors may create personalized badges) Your Badge Options If you hover over a badge you may view information such as a description, the issuer and date received, and a comment. You will also find 3 icons below the badge: Share: Click this icon to share your badge with social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. 15
16 Download: Click this icon to download your badge as a png. Show/Hide: Click this icon to share/hide your badge. Sorting your Badges To change the order of your badges, click the blue text Sort badges. Drag the badges to your favored location and when finished click the blue text Done Sorting. Hide your Badge Course Information You may also hide the Course Info on Badges, meaning that anyone who views your badges cannot see from what class they originate. To do so, check the box on the righthand side of the Badge Section. 16
17 Anar Seeds features a unique award system based on earning Anar (pomegranate) seeds. On the top right-hand side you may view the total amount of Anar seeds that you have earned (the total value of all Anar seeds acquired in all courses). To learn how to earn the Anar seeds, click the blue text Learn about Anar Seeds. A new window will open detailing general information and the point system. Note: the amount of Anar Seeds you can earn may be slightly different per course as they may be personalized by each instructor. 17
18 Recommendations & Compliments Like Badges, users are also able to receive compliments or recommendations from other users. Receiving Recommendations & Compliments Once a me@sxu user has given you a compliment or recommendation, it will appear in the Recommendations and Compliments Section. There are several features once you receive either: Grid: Use the grid on the left-hand side of a comment to adjust it s location in the section. Edit Visibility: On the right-hand side you may edit the visibility of each comment or recommendation by viewers. Delete: You may choose to delete a comment or recommendation by clicking the trashcan icon to the right it. 18
19 Giving Recommendations & Compliments You may also give recommendations or compliments to other users. To do so, first visit their eportfolio Page. (xxxx= type their I.D. here, a number and letter combination) Once you are on their page, locate their Recommendations and Compliments Section and click the blue text Leave (user) a Recommendation or Compliment. Then, select your Relationship to the User, insert your Message, and when finished click Submit. 19
20 Networking & Social Engagement allows users to connect their accounts with other networks as well as engage in social engagement. Find Me The Find Me Section of the eportfolio allows you to connect networks or websites with profile page. To establish the links, click the appropriate option, either + Add a network or + Add a website. Social Engagements The Social Engagements Section shows all the interactions taking place between you and other users. For more detailed information on Social Engagements, click in the grey icon next to Social Engagements. 20
21 To navigate through your Social Engagements, use the arrows on the left-hand and right-hand side. Your engagements are organized from most to least. Visibility Options As with other sections of the eportfolio, you may edit the visibility options of the Social Engagements Section. To change the visibility, click on the visibility menu on the right-hand side of the Social Engagements Section. 21
22 Following & Followers Like other social media, allows users to interact with one-another by following each other. In this way accounts become linked, users able to view each other s posts. Following a User If you would like to Follow a user, you must first enter their eportfolio page. (xxxx= type their I.D. here, a number and letter combination) Once you are on their eportfolio, click on the blue Follow button on the top right-hand side. Once you are following a user you will see the button as: You may unfollow a user by hovering over the Following box and clicking it when it shows a red Unfollow box as : On your me@sxu eportfolio you may view all the users that you are following in the Following Section. Click on the icon on the right-hand side of the section to edit Visibility options. 22
23 Users Following You Users may also request to follow you. You may view all notifications of followers on the Notification Bar. You may view all users who are following you in the Followers Section. Click on the icon on the right-hand side of the section to edit Visibility options. Public Posts Another feature of the is that all public posts you are engaged with will build up on the eportfolio. A post will show if you have: (1) published a new post and saved it as public or (2) replied on a public post. Public posts are viewable to anyone visiting your me@sxu eportfolio. They accumulate below all of the sections. 23
