2 ANDROID HERO + SHIELD GUIDE: For ease of setup have the following prerequisites prior to continuing. Prerequisites: Hero+ Shield installed and set up on your smart devices Introduction: Hero+Shield consists of two parts. Shield is our web browser for safe internet browsing. Shield can be configured to allow or block websites or categories of websites at the touch of a button. The configuration of Shield and the browsing experience is handled in the Hero app. To get the most out of your Hero membership, Please make sure that you have Hero and Shield installed on each device you wish to manage. This guide will be broken down into different parts. Please see the table of contents below. Introduction 1. Profiles, Permissions and Settings 2. Alerts, Requests and Approvals 3. Geofences and Scheduling Guide: 1. Profiles, Permissions and Settings Navigation to each of the features in Hero can be accomplished by using the menu button located at the top left of the app. a. Open the navigation menu and select the Family option. Figure 1.1

3 b. Once the Family screen loads select a profile. ( Figure 1.2 ) For this case we will select the child profile Kinley. Figure 1.2 c. The profile screen for the user Kinley has several options. As an admin user, you are able to manage the profiles of all the users tied to your account. This means editing their profile avatar, birth date, phone number and , filtering settings, app usage and settings, and device tracking. You can access these options and settings from the profile screen shown in Figure 1.3.

4 Figure 1.3 d. To edit the profile, tap the Pencil icon on the top right of the screen. ( Figure 1.3) This will open the profile edit screen. ( Figure 1.4) From this screen you can edit the name, birth date, gender, grant admin privileges, add a phone number and , and finally the permission level.

5 Figure 1.4 e. Once the desired changes have been made, tap the save icon at the top right of the screen. ( Figure 1.4) f. Once the settings save, you will be returned to the profile screen. From here you can tap the Configure Settings button to update device and application settings. ( Figure 1.4) g. To block an app, tap the slider to red. To unblock an app, change the slider to green. ( Figure 1.5) Figure 1.5

6 h. You can tap the Settings tab to change device settings in a similar manner to the app sliders. Tap the save icon to complete the changes. 2. Alerts Alerts can be accessed via notifications on your phone, or by going to the alerts tab in the Hero app. a. From the family screen shown in Figure 2.1, open the menu list from the top left of the screen. ( Figure 2.1 ) Figure 2.1 b. 7 c. From the alerts page, you can tap each alert to review the alert. Tap an alert to begin. Once the alert opens, you will have a preview of the page requested and several options to allow or deny access to the requested website. To allow the website, choose the time amount desired and press Allow. To deny the request, you may add a note for your child and then tap deny. The child will see the note when they get the denied notification. ( Figure 2.3) We also included a website preview button so you can browse the website before making a decision to allow or deny access. Figure 2.3 d. Once you tap allow or deny you will be returned to the family screen. 3. Geofences and Scheduling A Geofence is a virtual barrier that you can create to notify you of activity. For example, if you want to know when your child is leaving the house or school, you can set up a geofence around the house or school and be notified whenever the child leaves that fence or enters the fence. It can also be configured to activate on a daily or weekly schedule. a. From the family screen, open the menu list from the top left of the screen. Select Geofence from the list. ( Figure 3.1 )

9 c. Name the new Geofence and give it a description (optional), then tap the Select the location field to put set your geofence location. ( Figure 3.3) Figure 3.3 d. There is three ways to find the loca on that you wish to geofence. First, you can tap the Locate me symbol at the top right of the screen next to the address bar. (Figure 3.4 ) Second, you can type in the address you wish to geofence, and Third, you can move the map to the loca on you wish to geofence and tap on the map to place the geofence. The boᙀ om of the screen has a slider that determines the size of the geofence. Some loca ons such as schools and churches will require a larger geofence than an office or home. The slider allows you to adjust the size of the geofence at any me! Tap done once you have selected a loca on. ( Figure 3.5) Figure 3.4

10 Figure 3.5 e. Once the location has been added, you can turn on notifications that will notify you when a device enters or exits the geofence. Next tap on the family members you want to be notified about. At the bottom, tap the Add Schedule button to create a new schedule. ( Figure 3.5)

11 Figure 3.5 f. Give the new schedule a title and description. Next tap the start me field to adjust the scheduling start me. ( Figure 3.6)

12 Figure 3.6 g. The start time clock can be adjusted by moving the hour hand on the clock to the time you wish to start. Then the minute hand in five minute increments. Be sure to select AM or PM. Tap Ok when you have selected the desired start time. Repeat this step to set the end time. ( Figure 3.7)

13 Figure 3.7 h. Once the start and end time has been selected, tap on each day of the week that you want the schedule to be active. Tapping the repeat box will repeat this schedule every week. To change what the schedule does when active. You can allow or block apps and device se 靀 ngs. To block the apps, change the sliders to red. ( Figure 3.8) Figure 3.8 i. Tap the Settings tab at the top of the screen. Adjust the sliders for each of the device settings that you wish to configure. In this example, the camera is locked at night. Once the settings and apps have been configured, tap the left arrow to return to the scheduling page. ( Figure 3.9 )

14 Figure 3.9 j. Once all the scheduling settings are set up, tap the save icon on the top right of the screen. ( Figure 3.10 ) Figure 3.10 k. That completes the geofence setup. Turn on the geofence by selecting the slider on the geofence page ( Figure 3.11 )

To remove an unneeded geofence, swipe on the geofence item from right to left. This will reveal the delete option. ( Figure 3.13 ) Figure 3.13 n. To delete the schedule, open the schedule you wish to delete. Tap the delete button ( Figure 3.14 ) Figure 3.14
