1 FOR SCHOOLS AND NURSERIES Overview to signing in When you sign into Ten Town you have two options: School sign in Class sign in You can only sign in as a class once you have set up your class details within the school sign in area. School sign in Enter the login details you have been given. You can change the password once you are logged in and if you would like to change your username then just us at info@tentown.co.uk If you have any problems signing in then just call or us. Once logged in you arrive at your control panel (below). This is your own admin area. Here you can manage your classes and pupils; you can also access all of the printable teaching materials; view pupil activity; change passwords and buy additional resources. Class sign in The class sign in allows you to access the online activities and to do this you create different icons along with an image (see below). These icons can be assigned to both individual children an d classes/groups of children.

2 When do I create a individual child icon? If a child is going to access the activities on an individual PC then you need to set them up their own icon. This will allow them to track their own progress around the island Ten Town (0 to 10) and through the episodes of Tia Ten's TV show (10 to 20) When do I create a class/group icon? This is for when you are going to access the online content as a group activity (or for modelling before the children attempt on their own PC). Please note that, even if you are not going to set up individual child icons, you need to set up at least one class/group icon to be able to access the online activities. How to create class and child icons STEP 1: On your control panel select the Manage Classes option. Here can set up your individual class username and password. You can have as few or as many classes as you like. You can come back and edit your classes at any time if you decide to change the way you want them set up. You need to give each class a name eg Nursery or Reception and assign it a username and password (below). You can add, edit and delete classes at any time. STEP 2: Once you have set up one or more classes you can then assign the icons to them. To do this you need to click Back to Account and then the Manage Pupils option. To create a child or group icon, simply select the class and then input the name and select an image. Then click "add" (see below). Eg. creating an icon for Ali in Reception

You are now ready to sign in as a class. First use the sign out option to return to the home page and then select class sign in and input one of the class usernames and password you have just created.

3 Please note the "Number unlocked to:" option relates to the "10 to 20" content. You will not see this option if you only have access to the "0 to 10" content. When you click on an icon it will take you through to the Ten Town interactive map. Here you can select the online activities you would like to play. The Ten Town Map

Opening Tia Ten's Restaurant When a child or group first logs into Ten Town they will see the characters from Zero Pond through to Nina Nine Bows on their interactive map.

As a long term objective, they are challenged to help open Tia Ten's restaurant and make it appear on the interactive map. To do this they must first unlock all the characters on the map.

Only then will they be able to access the games and activities for Tia Ten. To unlock a character they must attempt four specific activities. These are - 1 Watch the animated story 2 Watch the song 3 Play the tracing game 4 Play the interactive find the sets game Where there are two versions of the find the sets game, it is the new version that must be attempted. To help identify them, activities that need to be attempted also have an * by their name. They will receive a tick the first time they try out any activity (left). When they have tried the four set activities for a character they will then see a tick by this character on the interactive map. This means that this character has been unlocked (right). When they have a tick by each character, Tia Ten's restaurant will open and the child will then see a short animation to celebrate this achievement.

There will also be an additional end of series special featuring the Ten Town banquet itself.

5 Guide to the new "10 to 20" content The numbers 10 to 20 are based around Tia Ten s TV show. Each number is introduced in a new episode of the show in which Tia Ten helps King One and his friends prepare for the Ten Town banquet. There will also be an additional end of series special featuring the Ten Town banquet itself. When you login in as a class you will now be presented with the option to go to the original 0 to 10 map or the new 10 to 20 content. When you select 10 to 20 you ll see the Ten Town Player screen which displays the different episodes of The Tia Ten Show. You ll see that only Episode 10 is unlocked. To unlock Episode 11 you must complete Episode 10 s interactive story (and so on). However, teachers also have control of which numbers are unlocked (see Manually unlocking the numbers ). This part of the site is still a work in progress but we ll be regularly adding new content.

When completed each episode will contain the following content: STORIES Interactive Story Episode of The Tia TV Show in which the children need to complete one, or more, challenges to finish the

The challenges are based on reception class maths topics such as measurement, weight, time, money, capacity etc. Completing the interactive story unlocks the next number. Story This is a version of the episode without any challenges. GAMES The children can play the challenges from the interactive story without having to watch the episode. SONGS The song from the episode available separately. TEN TOWN TV In the future we ll be adding short videos on the topics covered in each episode. Also see: View printable activities via the school sign in As with the original content, there will be support material and printable activities available to access. We have already completed some practical activities based on each episode and will be adding tracing sheets very soon. MANUAL UNLOCKING THE NUMBERS Teachers can manually unlock a number before the interactive story has been completed. To do this: 1. Sign in as a school 2. Select manage pupils 3. Select the pupil (or group name)

Example: If you want to unlock up to the number 12 for the AM Group. Click on the Edit icon. Then click on the number option in the right hand field and select the number 12. Then click on update.

Please be aware that while we are working on the content you ll find some numbers don t have an interactive story yet. Therefore you will need to use this manual method to unlock the next number. BROWSER COMPATIBILITY The new content is programmed in html 5 which means that it also ipad compatible as long as you are connected to the internet. We will be producing Apps in the future. We will also be updating the original 0 to 10 content shortly so this will also play on ipads. On a PC the new content will play on Internet Explorer 9 (or later), Google Chrome and Firefox. If you are currently using IE 8 you will need to upgrade to IE9 or one of the other browsers. Important Note for Windows XP users: Windows XP does not allow upgrades to Internet Explorer 9 but users can download Chrome or Firefox. However, please be aware that Microsoft are ending support of Windows XP at the end of March This means they will no longer be producing security updates for XP. Microsoft say: If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP. 8 Summary of "School sign in" control panel options: When you sign in as a school you will be presented with a number of options: View Teaching Resources: Here you will find a wide range of printable resources, sub-divided by character. A good place to start are the character guides which give an introduction to each character and the related activities that are available. The resources also include Practical Activities (PAs) and Consolidation Activities (CAs). The numbering relates to their character. For example, Thelma Three s first Practical Activity is PA3.01. There are also certificates, lyric sheets and finger modelling examples. Manage Classes: Set up new classes. Edit and delete existing classes. Manage Pupils: Add, edit and delete your pupil details. View Pupil Activity: Details which activities each child has attempted in each session. This feature is currently being developed further and will soon provide more detailed feedback on how they have performed on specific games and activities. View Online Resources: This provides a quick link to access all the online activities without having to go through the interactive map. Also provides access to the Ten Town Pond activities. You can return to your control panel by clicking back to account in the bottom left hand corner of the page. Buy Additional Resources: Ten Town offers a range of additional resources that can be purchased at any time during your subscription period. Get Parents Involved: Information on how your parents can receive discounted at home access. For every 10 parents that subscribe you will receive 50 voucher to spend on Ten Town resources. We also offer discounted packages for schools and nursery wanting to arrange at home access for their parents. Change Password: Change main school sign in password. To change your username please call us on or info@tentown.co.uk. View Renewal Date: Display end date of your subscription. You will be sent reminder within the last month. Sign Out: Return to home page Technical Support: If you have any problems or queries while using the Ten Town site please do not hesitate to contact us on info@tentown.co.uk. We normally have someone available to reply to s between 8am to 10pm on weekdays and between 9am to 8pm at the weekends. We aim to reply to all s within one hour.
