2 9:40 10:40 Insight 360 Basics Insight 360 Setting Up Insert the Insight 360 USB stick into the teacher machine. Open Insight 360 on the teacher machine. Settings Click on the gear icon in the upper right Go through tabs very quickly, Registration/Activation will be done with the Technician that installs the software Mobile Devices (This part is necessary for the software to connect and work with the ipads Make sure Enable Insight 360 Teacher App is checked Computer name must be unique (I suggest Room #-Computer #) Password should be set to south1. (Let them know the Password can be changed at any time if they forget it.) No Save button. Automatically saves. Finding the IP Address they will need this to connect the computer and ipad Click on the Windows symbol Type cmd in the Search field Click on cmd.exe in the Search results In the Command box type ipconfig and hit Enter They will need the IPv4 address Write this IP number down, you will need to put it into the ipad when connecting to the computer. Your desktop should keep this address for quite a while, so you shouldn t need to check it all the time. However, if you try to connect your ipad and it won t connect this may be why. Home Tab don t need to spend a lot of time here. Mention the tutorial videos. Be sure and mention the Message Center notice of Updates Favorites show them how to add websites and files (Refer to handout.) Favorites have to be created in the Insight 360 software on the desktop. Once created, they show up on the 360 Teacher app on the ipad. August 2014 Page 2

3 Connecting The Insight 360 ipad Teacher App Open the Insight 360 Teacher App. There should be two installed on your ipad. The white icon is the teacher app, the black icon is the student app. Insight 360 Teacher App Tools If the computer is on the same wireless network as the ipad, you should see the computer name you put in the settings. Tap the computer name to connect to the computer. If you do not see your computer listed, tap Connect Directly To A Computer. Because your teacher desktop is wired into the network you will have to connect via ip address. On the ipad Tap the Connect directly to a computer button. Enter the IP Address of the computer you are trying to connect to Tap the Connect button Enter the password (south1) Tap the Start Anonymous Class button You should see the computer s desktop shown on the ipad. 4 10:40 10:55 - Break 10:55 11:45 - Advanced Insight 360 and the Student App Teachers Now Become Students Connecting With The 360 Student App Teacher will open the Insight 360 Student App on their ipads and connect as a Guest Student. Tap Connect by IP. Type in the IP Address from the teacher s computer and tap Next. Enter Your Name and tap Join. Welcome screen appears and tap OK. The Wait For Your Instructor screen appears. Show Verbal Quizzes (Refer to handout for directions.) See handout for directions. Show Que Tagging Quiz (Refer to handout for directions.) Talk about how this feature and how it will help you connect to what you have already created. See handout for directions. 6 Adding/Changing Favorites Favorites Launch Insight 360 Click on the My Favorites tab You have 4 pages of favorites o Click on the page you want to manipulate You can name each page by typing in the box beside Page Name To add a favorite: o Click on an open box o Name - type the name of the favorite File browse to the location of the favorite you wish to add, or enter the URL you wish to save. You can also drag and drop a file or URL into an open box to add it to your favorites. To delete a favorite click on the trashcan icon next to the Name field To reorder favorites, you can click on the favorite and drag and drop it to a new location on the current page or drag and drop it one of your other 3 pages.

8 Using Insight 360 as a Whiteboard Once you have connected to Insight 360, you can use your ipad like a white board. To access the whiteboard in Insight 360 click on the Notes button. That will bring up a blank white page on your ipad/computer. You can then write on the blank screen with the pen tool. You can use the Capture Screenshot tool to save any work done on the whiteboard. When you take a screenshot with Insight360 software, it automatically saves a copy of the picture to the hard drive of the machine it is installed on. These images can then be uploaded to a web page, inserted into documents, etc.

9 You can find those pics by going to: On a PC - C: Users (Username) AppData Local Insight360 Data ImageRefs The images are named with a string of numbers and letters so you will have to use a thumbnail view to determine which pics are which. You may also find that the AppData folder may be hidden on your machine. To reveal the folder, click the Start button Click the Control Panel Click Appearance and Personalization Click Folder Options. Once the Folder Options window is open, click the View tab. Finally, under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK. On a MAC - More then likely the folder that the screenshots reside in will be hidden. To go there open a Finder window. While holding down the option key and selecting Library from the Go menu. Once in the Library folder go to Application Support Insight360 Data ImageRefs. 10 Annotating a document using Insight 360 Another useful feature of Insight 360 is the ability to annotate documents and then capture the screenshots. In order to annotate a document you first need to open a document on your computer. One easy way to open a document without having to navigate to it on the computer is to save the document to your Favorites page within Insight 360. Once the page is open you can annotate it using the pen/highlighter tool to mark up the document. Hint switch between the Pen/Highlighter/Line/Shapes/Eraser. By holding down the pen tool button you will be able to choose different sizes and colors. You can also use the Capture Screenshot tool to capture the documents after you have marked up the documents.

11 To Start a Verbal Question Note: This procedure is essentially the same on the Insight 360 Teacher application, although the icons may look different. 1. From the Lesson zone, tap Question. The Verbal Question tab shows by default. 2. Tap Type, and then tap the button corresponding to the type of question. 3. (Optional) Tap 123 to use numbered options instead of lettered options for Multiple Choice or Multiple Answer questions. 4. Tap Back. 5. Tap Answer, and then tap the correct answer(s). 6. Tap Back. 7. Tap Timer to set the timer. Tap Plus or Minus to set the timer with more or less time. 8. Ask your students the question and include all options (if multiple choice). Request students to answer by pressing the corresponding key on their student response systems. Note: You may want to write the question and options using Whiteboard mode. 9. Tap Start. Note: If using the Teacher application, when you tap Start, the image from your device is sent to student devices running the Insight 360 Student application. a. If all students answer the question before the timer is finished, tap Stop. b. To start another question from the Question zone, tap New.

12 Running A Que Tagged Power Point 1. Open the Star Wars Que Tagged PowerPoint. 2. Play the slide show from the beginning. Have is up on your computer screen. Point out to students the Que Tag at the bottom on the Power Point slide. Comment on how easy it is to insert those into files they have already created. 3. Open Insight 360 Teacher App & Connect. 4. Insight 360 will recognize you have a Que Tagged item open and will see the orange tag next to the? icon. 5. Have students connect using the Insight 360 Student App. 6. Tap the? icon with the orange tag. 7. Tap Start. 8. Students will see the first slide with question #1. August 2014 Page 1

13 9. Have them all answer the question. You will see your bar graph begin to populate as students answer the question. 10. Remind students there is a scratchpad at the bottom of their screen to make notes. 11. Tap Stop to end Question # Students will receive feedback with correct or incorrect answers on their ipad screen. 13. Advance your Power Point slide to question #2 on your computer. 14.
