How can I learn more about the benefits of Subscription for either AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D? General Product Information 1.1 What is the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension is a comprehensive hydrology and hydraulic analysis application for planning and designing urban drainage systems, highway drainage systems, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension is based on the BOSS StormNET Stand-Alone technology recently acquired from Boss International. 1.2 How can I get Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension? Autodesk customers who are currently under Autodesk Subscription for AutoCAD Civil 3D software or AutoCAD Map 3D software can access an unlimited link version of StormNET Stand-Alone (under the new name Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension) as part of their Subscription benefits. 1.3 What is the difference between Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension and BOSS StormNET? The Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension includes all of the functionality of BOSS StormNET, plus it has the added benefit of enhanced interoperability with AutoCAD 2

3 Civil 3D. In addition, BOSS StormNET was available in 10, 25, 50, 250, 1,000, and unlimited link versions at different price points. The Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension enables you to analyze an unlimited number of links as a benefit of your Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D Subscription. 1.4 What other products did Autodesk acquire from BOSS International and what are the plans for the technology? Autodesk acquired certain assets of BOSS International, including the BOSS StormNET Stand-Alone and BOSS StormNET for Civil 3D technologies for storm and sanitary system analysis, the BOSS RiverCAD technology for floodplain analysis, and the BOSS WaterNetworks technology for water distribution system analysis. At this time, Autodesk has only announced plans for the StormNET Stand-Alone technology. Autodesk will be making an announcement in the future regarding our plans for StormNET for Civil 3D, RiverCAD, and WaterNetworks technologies. 1.5 I purchased a seat of StormNET through BOSS International. Does this mean I automatically get a seat of Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension? Owning a seat of BOSS StormNET does not mean you will be automatically fulfilled with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension is only available to Civil 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D Subscription customers. 1.6 I purchased StormNET from BOSS International. Can I continue to use it and how do I get support? Yes. You can continue to use your copy of BOSS StormNET, and Autodesk will continue to support you until April 30, While we have shifted to an -only support model for software purchased from BOSS International, the product experts at BOSS will be working closely with Autodesk to continue handling your support requests. Moving forward, please direct all support requests for BOSS StormNET to stormsanitarysupport@autodesk.com. While we will no longer be providing updates to the BOSS StormNET software, you can continue to use the software for as long as you want. If you have Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D on Subscription, we encourage you to download the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension from Subscription Center. The Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension offers the added benefits of enhanced interoperability with Civil 3D and greater modeling capacity. The knowledgeable product experts at BOSS will be working closely with Autodesk to handle your support requests, which can be sent in through the standard Autodesk process for logging support incidents. If you do not already have Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D, or you wish to purchase Subscription, contact your nearest Autodesk reseller or visit to find one near you. 1.7 I have a seat of StormNET that I purchased from BOSS International. I also have a seat of Civil 3D on Subscription. Can I continue to use my BOSS StormNET and get access to Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis? Yes. You can continue to use your copy of BOSS StormNET and get access to Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension through your Subscription. Keep in mind, though, that while we will continue to support your BOSS StormNET until April 30, 2011, and you can continue to use the software for as long as you want, we will no longer be providing updates to the software. We will instead shift our focus to integrating this technology into the Autodesk infrastructure portfolio offering at some point in the future. 3

4 1.8 Can I install Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis without AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D on my computer? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis operates as a stand-alone program. However, in order to run it you must have either AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 or AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 installed on the same machine. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis will check for a license of Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D during install and every time you launch it. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2011 cannot be run with earlier versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D. 1.9 Will Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis replace Hydraflow Storm Sewer Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow Hydrographs Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D and Hydraflow Express Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D? Hydraflow Storm Sewer Extension, Hydraflow Hydrographs Extension, and the Hydraflow Express Extension are included for Civil 3D 2011 just as they were in Civil 3D Are there any localized language versions of Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis available? Currently, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis is available for AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D software Subscription customers in English only. There will be a UK English version as well for the UK/Ireland market Does the user have to be fluent with AutoCAD software to use Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension? Although you need have either AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D installed on the machine, you do not have to be fluent in these products in order to operate Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension. 2. Technical Capabilities For additional information beyond what is provided in this section, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. 2.1 What are the benefits of Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis extension? This extension is a comprehensive, hydrodynamic hydrology and hydraulic analysis application for planning and designing urban drainage systems and storm sewers, including highway drainage systems and sanitary sewers. Key features and benefits include the following: Bidirectional exchange of data with AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D Widely accepted hydrology analysis methods, including NRCS (SCS) TR-55/TR- 20, Rational Method, Modified Rational, HEC-1, and EPA SWMM Networks of unlimited size Hydraulic analysis of pipes, open channels, streams, culverts, gutters, and more Advanced routing methods, such as kinematic wave and hydrodynamic routing Analysis of retention and detention ponds Analysis of Stormwater best management practices (BMPs) Stormwater quality modeling based on NPDES requirements Customizable report generation for regulatory review GIS interoperability Works in either US or metric (SI) units 4

5 2.2 What hydraulics and hydrology methodologies are used in Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis? Hydraulic routing is kinematic wave or hydrodynamic, and is based upon the latest EPA SWMM. Hydrology method options include the EPA SWMM, NRCS (SCS) TR-20, NRCS (SCS) TR-55, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-1, Rational Method, Modified Rational Method, DeKalb Rational, and Santa Barbara Unit Hydrograph (SBUH). 2.3 What types of additional scenarios can be modeled with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis Extension? Storm and Sanitary Analysis can model the pressure flow found in inverted siphons. There are several inverted siphon models included with the sample projects that are installed with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis. Using hydrodynamic routing, complex detention pond situations such as interconnected detention ponds with backwater effects can be modeled. For further information, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. Using hydrodynamic routing, tidal boundary conditions can be modeled. There is a tidal model included with the sample projects that are installed with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis. When using the EPA SWMM hydrology method, water quality can be accounted for. This enables you to include rain gardens, green roofs, bioswales, dry detention ponds, wet detention ponds, and other best management practices in your water quality modeling. For further information, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. Complete modeling of curb and gutter storm drain inlets can be accounted for. Complete modeling of pump stations and wastewater force mains can be accounted for. There are several wastewater models including pump stations and force mains included with the sample projects that are installed with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis. Both simple and complex outlet structures including multiport riser structures can be accounted for. Pressurized storage vaults can be accounted for. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can model an infiltration trench by treating the trench as a storage node with exfiltration defined. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis is a 1D flow routing model. However, you can perform 2D flood flow modeling using hydrodynamic routing and creating a grid of storage nodes that are interconnected in both the X and Y directions using open channel routing links. The storage nodes represent the localized ponding in the area that they are defined, and the routing links represent the flow channel to the adjacent storage node. Using this grid representation, a 2D flood flow can be modeled. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis supports modeling of underground storage chambers. The software has an underground storage structure calculator for computing the storage from underground storage pipes, arch pipes, and storage chambers from major manufacturers such as Cultec and others. 2.4 What support is provided for localized rainfall data? For additional information beyond what is provided in this section, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. 5

6 Localized rainfall data supported - this extension includes the Rainfall Designer feature, which helps provide the design rainfall for the specified storm frequency for any location within the United States. In addition, you can create a design storm by specifying user-defined rainfall data and then the appropriate storm distribution. Continuous rainfall events - Using the EPA SWMM hydrology method, this extension can help model single storm events and long-term (continuous) simulation of the surface runoff, subsurface runoff, and water quality. Source(s) of rainfall data are used - In this extension, the rainfall data has come from sources such as NWS, NOAA Atlases, state and local governments, and manual entry. 2.5 Can different time of concentration (TOC) methods be used within a single project? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis uses a single TOC method for a project, but allows the user to override any subbasin s TOC using a manually computed value. 2.6 How are junction losses computed? The underlying EPA SWMM routing engine does not use the energy equation at junctions. Therefore, it cannot apply an entrance/exit loss directly at the junctions. Instead, it treats the minor loss at a junction as an additional friction loss within the conduit. Thus, the software can more accurately represent the loss of energy for water entering a conduit from a junction or leaving a conduit and entering a junction. 4. Exhibits and Reports For additional information beyond what is provided in this section, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. 4.1 What variables can be plotted in profile? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can plot the HGL, EGL, critical depth, and many other variables in the profile plot. 4.2 Can you customize the output reports? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis enables you to create custom formatted reports containing model input data as well as analysis output results. This custom report can then be exported as either a PDF file or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. 4.3 Can you animate the results displayed on the profile plot or plan view? Can the animation be saved? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can animate the results on both the profile plot or plan view with regard to time. These animations can then be saved as a movie file and then played independent of the software. 6

7 5. System Requirements and Licensing 5.1 What are the system requirements and are there any special licensing instructions? There are no special instructions. Requirements are the same for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 and AutoCAD Map 3D They can be found at the following locations: AutoCAD Civil 3D: usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteid=123112&id= AutoCAD Map 3D: usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteid=123112&id= Does Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2011 Extension use Autodesk licensing? No special licensing is required. However, a user must have either a license of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 or AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 and have it installed on the user system for Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2011 to run. Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2011 cannot be run with earlier versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D. 6. Compatibility and Interoperability 6.1 Is it possible to open previously created StormNET files within Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can open StormNET files created with all StormNET versions Is the software compatible with GIS? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can import GIS shapefiles using attribute mapping and geocoding. For further information, please refer to the Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis User Guide. 6.3 Can MicroStation drawing files be imported? Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis does not import MicroStation DGN drawing files. However, you can import MicroStation DGN files using either Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D and then save them in DWG files and import them into Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis. 6.4 Can Bentley StormCAD, SewerCAD, or CivilStorm files be imported? Bentley StormCAD, SewerCAD and CivilStorm can generate LandXML and GIS files, which Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis can import. 7.
