1 Mining & Metallurgical Engineering Program Plane Surveying المساحة المستویة 102-C 1-Course Aim The course is intended to teach students basics, principles, techniques Main Aim and applications of plane surveying, using conventional and modern equipments with help of appropriate mathematical procedures. Sub-Aims Provide an understanding of the principles of surveying science and art. Study the basics and field carrying out of lengthener measurements, compass observations, simple traversing, maps ordering, coordinates, areas calculations, levelling, contouring and, and its corrections. 2-Course Content 6.1 Lectures: Study the basics and field work of cadastre, scales and vernierse. Know and understand cut and fill calculations, introduction into the instrumentation (theodolites and EDM/total station) Introduction: Principles of surveying science and art Lengthener measurements and its corrections: chain and tape surveying required tools Laying-out and cadastre some details using simple equipments Compass observations and Azimuths and its corrections Scales and verniers Mapping maps ordering Traversing using combass and simple lengthener tools its corrections Mechanical and mathematical calculations of areas Leveling (ordinary and accurate) Longitudinal and transversal sections contouring contour maps using PC Cut and Fill volumes. 2 Introduction into theodolite / total station, angular measurements. 6.2 Tutorials and Practical (Field and Office): Field measurements of lengthener measurements using chain and tapes its corrections Problems on chain and tapes measurements and corrections Laying out (cadastre) of small areas and details using tape and simple tools Training on compass observations and its corrections Exercise on compass azimuths Exercise on scales and verniers Exercise on maps ordering Selecting and fixing of training traverse points its measuring and correcting Training on estimating areas using planimeter Training on estimating areas through computational methods Field training on leveling using conventional and digital levels Exercise on leveling problems Carrying out contouring for using leveling with help of PC Exercise on cut and fill computations Recognition of theodolite / total station and training on angular measurements.
