7 SIGMET TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS PROBLEM 1 Issued SIGMET does broadcast with graphic & coordinate in WAFC However graphic & coordinate does not appear in AWC - believed to encounter IP address issues PROBLEM 2 Correction of SIGMETS could not broadcast. Current system does not support correction to be made e.g. : CCA, CCB & etc. However Corobor system can issue a correction but the disadvantage is that it could not be broadcasted SIGMET PROBLEMS

9 SIGMET PROBLEMS LIMITATION OF MESSIR VISSION COROBOR PROBLEM 4 Manual insertion of coordinate for SIGMET Graphical SIGMET not available with the current system plan to be developed soon Overlaying of satellite & radar image for SIGMET issuance does not auto update SIGMET issued does not broadcast via COROBOR Plotting of previous SIGMETs does not appear in one graphic & text display

Polygon description is best to be used Numbering of SIGMET for more than one phenomenon in an instance according to areas A01, B01..etc 2 phenomenon in a single SIGMET! abbreviation AND only for TC & VA SIGMET

11 SIGMET PROBLEMS Common errors not complying to SIGMET GUIDE (5 TH Edition) 2 phenomena in a single SIGMET. ENTIRE only applicable for VA SIGMET

12 CONCLUSION Identify common errors to improve SIGMET quality Coordination & communication within neighbouring s are crucial towards dissemination of graphical SIGMET Implement a centralized Malaysia s MWO & SIGMET coordination procedures To have a standard SIGMET issuance among the ASEAN countries in future
