4 College of Lake y Follow-up Study, Part II: A Report on s by, Fiscal Years Introduction The College of Lake y surveys graduates every year in an effort to develop a demographic and academic profile of its graduates and to examine student success after leaving the college. These findings are presented annually in the Follow-up Study, Part I. This publication, Follow-up Study, Part II, presents findings that are aggregated for the past four fiscal years and presented by academic plan code (formerly known as curriculum code). In this report, Follow-up Study, Part II, information from six categories is presented for each academic plan code and program of study. The categories are: numbers of degrees and certificates granted demographic characteristics of the graduates satisfaction with major program of study placement since graduation employment information evaluation of learning outcomes SECTION 1: Degrees/Certificates Granted, FY00-03 This table displays degrees and certificates granted during fiscal years 2000 through 2003, and DOES NOT include multiple degrees or certificates earned by students. 1 The data reported in the tables presented in Section 1 are based on an unduplicated count of graduates. Please note that each fiscal year is comprised of three terms: summer, fall, and spring. Demographic Characteristics of the s, FY00-03 The demographic data reported include all graduates of fiscal years 2000 through For example, the Demographic Characteristics Table on page 1 indicates there were 1,717 AA degree graduates during this four-year period. Of these AA graduates, 619 were male, the average age was 27, and so on. 1 See page iii for information on tables containing the total number of degrees and certificates granted, including multiple degrees or certificates earned by students. i

5 Satisfaction with Major Program, FY00-03 This table provides information gathered from survey respondents approximately one year following graduation, and cumulated for the four-year period. The response rate is the number of respondents divided by the total number of graduates. The percentages reported are based on the actual number of respondents reporting they were very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with specific elements of their major program. For example, the Satisfaction with Major Program Table on page 2 shows that for AA degree graduates, 97.7% of the respondents were either somewhat or very satisfied with the content of courses in their major program. Placement, FY00-03 The data in this table were gathered from survey respondents approximately one year following graduation, and cumulated for the four-year period. The Continuing includes respondents who reported they had taken college coursework after graduating from CLC. For example, the Placement table on page 2 shows that 60.3% of AA graduate respondents indicated they had continued their education. The Employed is based on all respondents including those not seeking employment. The Seeking Employment is based on all respondents who were unemployed and who indicated they were seeking employment. The remaining data, including the Employed/Related Field, and the When did you begin working at present job/after leaving the CLC program, are based on the number of respondents who indicated they were employed full-time or parttime. Continuing the page 2 example, 72.8% of AA graduate respondents indicated that they were working. Of this working group of respondents, 42.8% were employed in a related field, and 41.2% began their current jobs after completing their College of Lake y program. Employment Details, FY00-03 The data in this table were gathered from survey respondents approximately one year following graduation, and cumulated for the four-year period. All information in this table are based on the number of respondents who reported being employed full-time, parttime, or full-time military. Concluding the example concerning AA graduates, the Employment Details table on page 3 shows the mean salary for all working respondents was $13.55, the average salary for full-time employees was $15.69, and the average salary of part-time employees was $ Learning Outcomes FY00-03 The data in this table were gathered from survey respondents beginning with fiscal year 2000 graduates. The response rate is the number of FY00-03 respondents divided by the total number of FY00-03 graduates. The percentages reported are based on the actual number of respondents reporting they were well prepared or somewhat prepared with specific areas of competence. For example, the Learning Outcomes Table on page 3 shows that for AA degree graduates, 96.9% of the respondents were either somewhat or very well prepared in the use of clear and persuasive written expression. Please note that for some programs, there may not be data for FY00, FY01, FY02 or FY03; in this case, there will be no Learning Outcomes table. ii

6 SECTION 2: Degrees/Certificates Granted, FY00-03 This table displays the total number of degrees and certificates granted during fiscal years 2000 through 2003, and includes multiple degrees or certificates earned by some students. Since it is possible to receive more than one degree or certificate, the number of degrees and certificates granted may not match the number of graduates for a specific curriculum code. Please note that each fiscal year is comprised of three terms: summer, fall, and spring. For More Information Further detail concerning the data presented is available, upon request, in the Office for Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Research, iii
