3 Overview of Bell s Infrastructure Bell Mobility uses a combination of network and handset-based Mobile Location Services technologies Three main locating technologies are used: 1) Assisted GPS, 2) AFLT and 3) Cell Tower 6 5 3

4 What is Assisted GPS (AGPS)? Availability Available in 1X or 1X EVDO coverage GPS Satellites How it works: AGPS technology is based on a fallback approach. GPS technology is first used to position the AGPS Ready cell phone. If GPS is not available (indoors, impaired environments), Assisted GPS will fallback on a series of network triangulation technologies to get the best possible position of the device.
