1 Release Note for Nera WorldSet software release Thrane & Thrane Norge AS has released a new software for the Nera WorldSet. The new revision is and can be used on all handsets delivered. SOFTWARE RELEASE INFORMATION: The improvements and new features in this release are: A new version of the Nera WorldSet Loader (USB only) has been made to make it easier for non experts to load the Handset. In the Connection Status screen the user will now see the current GPS Status and how old it is In the GPS Info, available in the Connection Status screen, the user will see GPS Progress info All text messages is now stored in the terminal, not inside the handset memory. Call hold and Call waiting supported. In the Handset Menu Handset settings it is possible to reset to factory settings. This will also delete contacts stored in the handset. PIN and PUK entry has been improved Improved Contacts Management, Handset handles 100 handset entries, 350 terminal entries and 150 SIM card entries. Stability towards the Terminal is greatly improved. Retransmission schemes and Level 1 handling are now much better. A user will not experience a non working handset. When the terminal generates a Warning/Alarm, a pop up box will be shown to the user. E.g.you are not able to register due to wrong GPS In Menu 6.Terminal Setting, it is now possible to set the time zone. The time displayed in the Idle screen (see picture) is by default GMT +/-0 time. 3 Sleep Mode is greatly improved. In sleep mode the Nera WorldSet consumes only 160 mw. In operational mode it consumes 1 W. NB: This software can be used on all Nera WorldSets, only exception being handsets with revision 1.0. If you have a Nera handset with hardware revision 1.0, and software older than 1.4.x, please return this handset to us for upgrade. 1.1 Known issues Sometimes it locks up heavy case. In these cases, remove and insert the ISDN cable again to reset the handset 2. HOW TO READ OUT THE CURRENT SOFTWARE: From Start window select Menu and then select menu 4.Handset settings, scroll down to the About handset menu. 3. HOW TO READ OUT THE CURRENT HARDWARE: The handset hardware and serial-number can be read from the handset label. 4 4. NERA WORLDSET SOFTWARE UPGRADING PROCEDURE: It is possible to use a Nera WorldPro or Nera WorldCommunicator terminal for this upgrade. Note: Nera WorldPro terminal software needs to be or later to support upgrade of the Nera WorldSet Pre-requisite: The Nera terminal shall be connected to the PC via the USB interface, and all drivers installed. If you have a WorldPro1010, the ISDN/USB splitter need to be used. (see picture) Download the loader application (ExplorerIsdnHandsetViaUsbUpgrade.exe), and the Nera WorldSet firmware (H00_U_01_06_08.ldr) to your PC. These applications are available when you unzip: Nera_WorldSet_SW_1_6_8.ZIP 1. Handset: Power off the handset by removing its cable. If your existing handset software version is or lower then that: Power it on and when the blank screen appears press the Off-Hook (Redial) key. If your existing handset software version is or higher then that, Power it on whilst holding down the Off-Hook (Redial) key. 2. Now HS is entered into software download mode. If your existing handset software version is or lower then that:display should be " Welcome To Handset Software Upgradation Mode. Press ok to continue". Press the ok button which should take you to a display "Awaiting response from terminal". If your existing handset software version is or higher then that,you should directly get the display "Awaiting response from terminal" and you are not required to press any button.. 5 3. PC: Make sure that the terminal is detected by the PC application. Browse and select the handset software upgrade file ( H00_U_01_06_08.ldr ) and then press the "Download software to handset" button. If PC application does not detect the terminal, make sure that terminal is connected to PC (or) some other PC application is not accessing the terminal USB port. close the PC application and start again from step 1. If problem still persist, please verify the driver installations or contact us. 4. The handset should now display progress indicator to reflect the download status. 5. When the download is finished, the handset shall display "Flash burning in progress, Do not disconnect the handset". 6. Once flash burning is finished, The handset shall display "PLEASE DISCONNECT THE HANDSET AND RECONNECT IT TO COMPLETE THE UPGRADE PROCESS". 7. Please disconnect the handset and reconnect it to complete the upgrade process. 8. Verify the new software version in the handset settings menu: Menu -> Handset settings - > About. 9.
