Your new Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is pre-loaded with fitness apps so all you need to do to get fit is switch on, lace up, pop your X8 into the free fitness armband, then head out for a run or a cycle. Your phone will do all of the tracking, timing and motivating for you. But the X8 is so much more than a fitness partner. Head to the back of this booklet to see what else your smartphone can do. Fitness armband Made from durable, breathable neoprene, the armband has an adjustable Velcro strap so it should sit tight and stay comfy as you run or cycle. Your X8 handset will slip neatly into the pocket. Need to use your phone on the run? No problem. Access the touch screen through the clear front of the pocket. And if you re running at night, there are two light reflectors so everyone can see you coming. Calorific an app that ll help you watch what you eat Rather than add up calories which is never as precise as it seems Calorific gives the food you re eating a healthy rating. It s simple: veggies are colour-coded green, while pizzas are red. With a yellow option inbetween. Type in what you re eating and the app chooses which category the food belongs to. The app allocates your food choice to a bar graph. You can easily see how many red, yellow and green foods you re eating encouraging you to scoff less red foods and lots more greens.

3 CardioTrainer preloaded and ready to go Using this app is like exercising with a personal trainer but without the shouting. Instead it s packed with features to keep you motivated. GPS tracking See your route on a map. You ll know where to go and how to go further next time. World high scores Compare your work-out stats with other CardioTrainer users. You could be on top of the world. Music integration Play and control your music mixes without having to switch apps. Pedometer A simple tool. Counts how many steps you ve taken. Voice notifications Hear how you re doing and if you should be going faster, or slowing it down to reach your goals. Facebook integration Show off in everyone s news feeds with your work-out achievements. Add any work-out Manually add work-outs from kayaking to snowboarding to weightlifting. Add time or distance to calculate how many calories you ve burnt. Race Against Yourself Usually 1.92 this unlocked feature records your work-outs enabling you to beat your best times the next time you exercise. Starting your phone for the first time When you start your phone for the first time you will be taken to a set-up guide. Ensure you have your contacts from your previous phone saved onto your SIM so they can be easily imported. Effortless. If only running 5k was as easy. Using your phone Scroll and pan Swipe your thumb up and down against the screen to scroll through lists and navigate around your phone. Swipe left to right (or right to left) to move across screen. Select and open To select or open an application, tap your thumb against the screen. Left key customise your phone Change your wallpaper, add widgets and arrange icons. And to get quick access to your favourite app, long press the icon and drag it onto one of the corners on your homescreen. Centre key aka home key Always brings you back home to the main menu. 4 Your Google account You will need a Google account to use some of the main applications of this phone like Android Market, Google Maps and Timescape. If you don t have an account yet, you can set up a new one directly to your X8. 1. Open any Google application, such as Android Market, on the applications screen 2. Tap Next on the quick setup 3. Tap Create to set up new account 4. Enter your name and create a Username, tap Next 5. Enter and confirm your password, tap Next 6. In case you forget your password answer a personal question and add a secondary 7. Add a secondary if you have one Using Android Market Welcome to the big wide world of apps! Getting the most from your X8 Add the power control widget to your homescreen so you can prolong battery life by turning off functions easily when you re not using them. 1. Press your left key 2.
