3 Course Description Name Networking Foundation Prerequisite Basic cabling skills would be an advantage. Certi cation Norbain Academy Certi cate of Attendance Norbain Academy Certi cate of Completion Course Resources & Materials NORBAIN Academy Learning Each of our delegates are issued the loan of one of our Windows 10 i5 modern laptops which are used throughout the course to interact with the class and con gure practical session assignments, We provide note pads and pens. Copies of course presentations (PDF) upon course completion (please allow upto 5 working days ). Copies of awarded certi cates (PDF) upon course completion (please allow upto 5 working days). 4 Course Structure Course Overview A from the ground up course that will teach delegates all the necessary skills required to build a basic network and understand the tools needed to achieve this. This course will include Network Surveillance products as well as other devices common to this discipline such as IP Telephony, NAS (Network Attached Storage), Printing, Routers and Switches (both managed and unmanaged). We will also cover transmission methods, cyber security implementation and network addressing. Course Delivery The Networking Foundation Course is delivered over two days and is lecture based using slide presentations, the lecture is accompanied by both activity based guided practice and questionnaire sessions. Each lecture is approximately 40 minutes followed by the activity session for 20 minutes. Breaks are o ered throughout the day (morning break 15 mins, lunch break 30 mins and afternoon break 15 mins), lunch will be provided (please advise us if there are any special dietary requirements). The course will conclude with a nal practical assessment. A certi cate of completion will be provided for course attendance and also a pass certi cate for the nal practical assessment.
5 Part 2: Delegate Learning Outcomes Objectives Learning Outcome Upon completion of the NORBAIN Academy Networking Foundation Course delegates will be able to demonstrate understanding of the following subjects: What is a Computer Network TCP/IP PING/IP CONFIG Command and Networking Scanning Software Hardware Including Switches, Cameras and Other Host Devices Network Device Con guration IP Addressing and DHCP Routing and Routing Protocols Subnetting TCP and UDP DNS The Internet SNMP Cyber Security and Implementation Troubleshooting Assessment Method During the course delegates will be assessed upon their understanding of each of the above subjects by being given practical exercises (guided by the instructor) or an online questionnaire (where they will be encouraged to work with other delegates). At the end of the course (day 2) there will be a nal practical examination. Outcomes Criteria Each delegate will be able to put into practice what they have learnt and install and manage a fully functional network, they will understand what hardware may be required to design and implement this, they will also be able to communicate e ectively with network administrators and engineers in order to ensure successful system integration.

8 Part 4: Course Policies Attendance Attending Class All delegates are expected to attend all subject lectures as listed on the course subjects outline and schedule above. Attendance certi cates will only be issued to those who participate in all lectures on both days.
