2 What does the trust do? The Trust supports formal education for financially and socially underprivileged children from the Neelankarai Panchayat School. Each student is supported for years from Class 6 through college. So far 103 students have graduated from the trust. 9 students have graduated with Engineering degrees. Children s parents work locally in construction, domestic labor and in trades. The trust gives books, school fees, college fees and uniforms and additional evening hours tuition.. The trust counsels the 12th students on colleges and the college grads on careers. They arrange special coaching for Engineering College admissions, College level Courses, Spoken English courses and Java / C / C++ / MS Office etc. The Trust is a 20 year old zero overhead organization run by volunteers. 2

3 What are the students doing? 3 students in Class students in Science and Commerce colleges 3 students have graduated school and are applying for colleges. The school students come over for tuitions every evening. There is a good amount of extra curricular and sports activity. The Engineering students attend college and work on their projects. They also prepare for their job interviews. Some college students attend Computer courses in Java, C ++, etc. Some attend coaching in college level courses like Accountancy as needed. 3

32 In Vijay s words.. My name is Vijay. My father is working as an electrician. I did my B.Tech in Arunai Engineering College. I got 73% in my engineering. I finished my Engineering in May 2006 and I got the job in October I struggled for one year and four months to get the job. In this one year I attended nearly 40 to 50 interviews. My problem is with my English knowledge. I finished my schooling in Tamil medium, so I can t fulfill the need of MNC`s and Indian companies. So I cannot clear the interviews. In this one year I learnt Oracle 9i and Java for my interviews. Now I am familiar with Oracle 9i SQL and PL/SQL. I got a job in DAX NETWORKS LIMITED, which is India s foremost value added service & solution provider of networking products. My job in Dax Networks is as a Systems Administrator (Executive Level). I am very happy to work here. We have Two Dell POWEREDGE 2600 servers. We are using this server as a Mail Server and Sales Logic Server. We have a primary and secondary server for local network, other than this we have a web server which is maintained by Sify. I need to take care all these servers and provide uninterrupted service to the users of Dax and Dax employees. I thank you all from my heart to help me to get this position.
